He completely justified his selection tonight and I'm gutted that his game ended like that, I hope it doesn't spark the end of his career either and the fans get behind him after it.

Only thing that was his fault tonight was Ramos' OG. Lets get his contract negotiations concluded because since he's returned he's added the wing threat we've missed for too long.

This decision could make him or break him. Rightly or wrongly, we've lost a mammoth tie because of his dismissal. I think the entire club will rally around him, but I am unsure whether that will be enough - he's always seemed to have precarious self-esteem. If he has the character to make amends, we could see a brilliant Nani for the rest of the season, but it could as easily go the other way.

His immediate future will be interesting. Ferguson pretty much has to start him in our next game, else I fear it could really damage him.

I doubt it. It's not just club personnel; pretty much the entire world's sporting media is going to be on his side.

I don't see anything else happening to be honest, the fans will (I hope) get behind him 100% after such an injustice. As bad as it is, this could be a turning point in a good way for him with the fans.

He was just trying to control the ball. One of the worst decisions you'll ever see. Referees have never played the game, hence they have no idea about it.

yeah, I feel the same. In an odd way it could end up rejuvenating his career here. He was one of our best players until that point and I think the reaction from the fans and Utd fans in general was very positive towards him as soon as the red came out.

I think what needs to happen is for Fergie to start him at the weekend though, if he's dropped it could be calamatous for his confidence, if he starts he will have the backing of the fans throughout (more than ever before) and could have a blinder.

Sincerely hope Fergie gets behind him. He repaid his faith him on the field in one of the biggest games of the season. Nani is a confidence player and this incident will be a testament to Fergie's man management if he can make Nani feel he has nothing to hang his head for and that he has a future at United.

Apparently Phelan has said that even the fourth official was shocked and couldn't explain the red.

Yeah, seemed fairly obvious when SAF went down to him and he couldn't come up with a response.

Time for him to regroup and get over this, major step for him now.

Which blows Keane's theory apart. He said the ref was undecided until the 4th official made the decision for him. fecking eejit.

I agree Keane is a cnut and all but he said the linesman made the decision not the 4th official.

Really good performance I thought. Shame the referee let him/us/the world down.

He should start in the very next match - get him past this disgraceful decision asap.

I think hope this makes everyone realise that issues such as contracts etc are bullshit, it's football that counts.

After this injustice, and a huge decision from SAF to include him in the starting line up, I think it could increase the togetherness of our group and Nani in particular.

Hope he bags a couple vs Chelsea.

He should never have been sent off for that. Joke of a decision. Before that he was playing well. He looked fairly dangerous when he managed to get on the ball, yet at the same time we didn't see him dribble into trouble often during the game.

With performances like that we should start to see him starting a few more games in the near future.

we need to get behind Nani and the team and make sure we bring home two cups! Hopefully we can use this to spur us on to and use the anger to put teams to the sword

he is on great form, we should be starting him in the majority of games we have left, all the big ones for sure.

The only way I can make the refs decision make sense, is if it was a double yellow offence. One for the high leg ( I know it was take down and Arbeloa ran into him) and the other for the simulation on the floor. The Ref though didn't brandish 2 yellows, just gave a straight red and I can't fathom the incident.

I hope this decision doesn't crush him. Got a starting role against Madrid at home and I thought he was generally threatening, and it was him that delivered the assist for the OG.

That decision just about sums up his season so far, hopefully he can bounce back.

I hope everyone at the club rallies behind him. Being sent off like that could have a big impact on him mentally. I think its important that the club shows faith in him and I think he deserves to start against Chelsea. Being sent off like that would be absolutely crushing but at least he was playing well and on current form looks to be our best winger. I think he can be really important player in the run-in. Hopefully the chance of doing the double can pick him back up.

Hopefully we'll see a deserved extended run in the side followed up by a contract extension.

I wonder if he had not stayed down and just hopped up and got on with it, would that have made a difference.

It was like a sign of guilt when he was rolling about.

Still a shocking red. But trying to understand the whole scenario and what influenced the ref.

Nah I think the ref was instantly hovering over him and it was always going to be a red.

It was clear ref was ready to show the red immediately, it had nothing to do with Nani's reaction.

btw feel gutted for the lad, I hope this won't do anything bad to him and his united career.

Either way, don't know if its been said, but up until that point, I was quite pleased with Nani's performance; I thought he did himself a favour.
