What would be funny is we buy him for £30m and then Spurs purchase Martinez £35m..
People are too concerned about stats, and how 'oh he doesn't score enough, or he doesn't get enough assists' but if you just watch him you know that he is pure class.
I think United will get him still, he will be the one to succeed Scholes and if he does come to United I think he will reach an even higher level than he is at already.
It would be good for United to secure the deal (if possible) before Croatia's first match in the Euros, because lets face it if he has a good tournament Levy will get a few extra more million out of him.

It screams out to me that our main problem is controlling possession in the centre of the park. Especially with Carrick needing backup, and the way we improved this when Scholes came back (but he won't last forever). I can't see why we should favour some kind of destroyer over buying Modric
Do you actually think this will happen ? I can't tell whether this is just the usual bollocks or not.
Not really. I'd rather sign someone in the Sahin mould, e.g. for £10-20m, but on wages that are probably somewhere in between £60-80k a week (and a few years younger than Modric as well). In fact I do not really understand why we don't seem inquire about Sahin, he has tremendous potential and might be leaving the Bernabeu in the summer (though admittedly only on loan).
don't know if already posted but from Ladbrokes:

They just want people to bet on the transfer market.
Who is that player? Not saying he doesn't exist, just I don't know who would sit well alongside but also be the same if carrick was missing?Agree totally. He's a very good player but if getting him stops us from getting cover for Carrick, i wouldnt want him. Really think that after adding Kagawa to our offensive options, we can do without a Modric but what we really need is someone who can cover for Carrick and play alongside him.

With Levy around? No chance. It'll be at least £100m and Paul Tunnicliffe on loan to replace him.

Stroke an maybe? Anyone who's seen him regularly got a view.
Btw, I really like the idea of Modric alongside carrick in the two in a 4231 it looks like we are going towards.
With kagawa off Rooney reckon teams would struggle to get the ball off us and we'd have the players to make it count.
Also, most of our games the onus is on us so to me a side without a more defence-minded holding midfielder - a concern for some - is fine.
However, if we ever needed one, which is not often, could tunnicliffe be that man in the next year-18 months and be given the chance to stake a claim?
Like the look of him from what I've seen.

Have we signed Ryan's brother?
Who the feck is Paul Tunnicliffe![]()
Yeah, a lot of people are clueless about his role it seems.
The Sun seems very confident that a deal as been done. Then again it is the Sun.
I feel our back four is just too easy to get at sometimes.
I think The Sun just saw Gail Platt walking around Manchester and put two and two together.
The whole British press is now reporting that it's certain he's off to OT.
Unlike other rumours I get the feeling there's some truth in this one.
I think he's exactly the type of midfielder the fans have been crying out for, a creative player who knows how to keep possession, especially in tight spaces.
