Yeah if we didn't have a complete meltdown and beaten Bournemouth and Norwich, half this malaise could have been avoided. That being said, Liverpool have been the complete Jekyll and Hyde team with a clown college supply of goalies. Klopp will eventually sort that mess out.

We are already there. Half the season is gone and we have 30 points. 60 points at the end of season meant 7th place last season. We had 64 at the end of Moyes' season. With him still in charge we had 34 points after 19 games. That's all without taking performances into account.
I disagree. When RvP scored that hatrick, he did that 'for himself' , when Rooney scored from the half way line, that was a piece of individual brilliance, Evra's driven goal etc. These weren't part of a team game plan.
Against Chavs, we were clearly playing as a team with renewed motivation. Our problem recently has been a confidence shot to pieces, possibly caused by the early CL exit which no one expected.
Could you be any more specific there? So scoring goals isn't part of a team game plan?

I am also in the LVG out camp becuase I cant see this being turned around, but I want us more than anything to turn it around and if that is with LVG at the helm then so be it, for United the best possible outcome is for LVG to turn it round it will give us stability, remains with our youth and club ethos and gives direction.
Now our direction dosent look good but if it changes and LVG has a massive turn around it is a hell of lot healthier and better for our club than a new direction a new philosophy and a new project with a new manager, So for fans who would like to see us beat or are wishing for the manager sacked you should wish for a turn around and get behind the lads every week no need to boo and cause more uncertainty around our club. We have did it before and we will certainly do it again we will be back amongst the trophies soon

They should not have a non-football man have overall control of a football club. In what other business/industry would you see the owners appointing a CEO who has virtually no experience in that industry to operate the the ONLY business line of that company.
Do you see them running the Tampa Bay Bucs, the NFL franchise they own, in the same manner? Clearly no as they entrust the operations of the franchise (on the sporting side) to a President and a general manager, who are football men.
Further Ed has a vested interest in keeping LVG because he's Ed's hire.
My point is that the club is not being run in a modern and appropriate manner because (i) the owners are after money, not footballing success in that being competitive (not dominant) is sufficient for their objective and (ii) Ed is out of his depth as a footballing executive.
I can't believe he hasn't been sacked yet, the mind boggles .. This means that Woodward is off his rocker too , seriously we are desperately falling behind in the standings. LvG talks about how things could turn around in five weeks but its far easier to fall down the table then go upwards. fecking Leicester will surely finish above us.
I think Mourinho survived two votes of confidence.
Van Gaal's methods and poor man management is such that he's unlikely to suddenly win the players back. What I expect is things to reach a head sometime this season.
I'm pretty sure we'll regret this (looking at Van Gaal's past history, he's brilliant but for only a limited period, after that it tends to go pear shaped). The players wont go out to lose, but an unmotivated group means that when we do go a goal down against an attacking team(not bus-parking Chelsea), heads will drop.
But the board have made their choice, We have to live with it.
if losing at home to Norwich after that run didn't get him fired, and abject display v Stoke didn't, I think he's well past the peak of the storm now.

I agree, he's weathered the storm and the performance against Chelsea has secured his immediate future. If we get a few more results I think a contract extension is on the cards.

I think the article reeks of a briefing from the club. In fact in my more conspiratorial moments I think Mitten and a few others got briefed at the Chelsea match to change the story. They've all been running the "grumbles of discontent" line for weeks. Suddenly the matchgoers have a different, more tolerant perspective (not the impression I got at the Norwich game nor what I'm hearing from ST holders I know) Suddenly people like Mitten are pretending not to know the difference between trying to support the team in the match and backing the manager.
Tin foil explanation or not I suspect it could be that some key people want Giggs in but think that him getting the job (even as caretaker) now, while Mourinho's available, is a poisoned chalice. A portion of the traditional United ITK press has actually become more supportive of LvG since Mourinho was sacked despite the results being crap.
If this hadn't been the most inconsistent season in recent memory for top teams and Chelsea hadn't plummeted off the face of the earth, we'd be screwed already. As it stands we are still just in touch but it's hard to imagine us keeping that way unless we get some firepower in, in January, no matter who is manager.

We're on the same page mate. That article, such as it was, was designed to get the message out that we're sticking with Van Gaal. Mitten is a tool, in more ways than one, but this rubbish about match going supporters seeing themselves as a cut above those that don't has pissed a lot of people off. Many locals want to go but can't afford it. Mitten doesn't seem to worry about them as long as he's got his cozy little gig where he can pass himself off as the voice of the Stretford End, or whatever.
Van Gaal is on record as saying Giggs is in pole position for the job and I don't see any reason why that would change, absent a run of results that sends us plummeting down the table. Even then, he'd still have his backers on the board.

No idea how reliable the 'Red Issue' is but I saw on Twitter (yes I know) that they are saying there is some sort of power struggle going on between Fergie & Woodward,, Fergie wants Giggs in and will guide him and has never really wanted LvG, Woodward doesn't want to fire the man he hired as it'll be an admission of failure, also Fergie doesn't want Mourinho and has now supported LvG more to prevent any chance of Mourinho getting the job.
It reads like something from a kids playground and I'd be ashamed of what the club have become if it's true, but this sudden support of LvG is a bit odd, even Scholes has said he deserves more time now, are they just padding for time until Mourinho is snapped up.
Re Mitten the guy should think very hard in furture before trying to alienate a lot of the fans, and more importantly to him his readers, if the club have asked him to write it in return for future information I don't know, but the guy has fallen in my estimations, and tbh he didn't have that much further to fall anyway.
To be honest, you can give about as much credence to RI Twitter posts as you can to some of the ravings on here, mine included!

Bloody hell.. the talk of commercialization or money in football is about 2 decades late. Liverpool fans similarly bemoaned about 'Sky money' for a decade during their own decline. Let's not go down the same path. We have to operate in current reality of football world rather than look at the past.

Not saying its true, but Fergie's post retirement influence was a huge worry for a lot of us.

Probably not true but if it is (and sorry to say this) SAF needs to have zero influence at the club.
Fergie always stressed the importance of control. Listen to his old interviews and read his books. Control, and the importance of keeping it, is hammered home as the single most important part of management, in his view. Make of that what you will but I doubt Fergie's views on the subject have changed much since he retired.
I know. However, if he's doing that post-retirement, then I'm afraid how he handled his leaving and post-leaving would leave a blot on his legacy. I refuse to believe it. He's not worked for 26 years building an empire only to wreck it by refusing to let it move on.

I think football is a drug, there might be withdrawl issues for fergie post retirement. He may be "missing" the control he had. I think if we see fergie as a "human" then its very easily possible. Imagine being the most powerful man in the most famous club in the world and then suddenly being a mere director, who has almost 0 power. It is possible although difficult to believe.

Also a supposedly leading forum who calls club manager 'Van Loony' on their official twitter account and constantly go about berating everything related to club are not be taken seriously.
Fergie hammered home the concept of a manager having full control at a club rather than a transfer committee or a director of football, now that he is retired, there's every reason to assume he advocates the same for the current manager and not himself.
And if Moyes was part of his this big plan to maintain control, it had a strange way of playing out given Moyes chucked all of SAF's men out and tried doing things his own way. This just seems like an eye catching conspiracy theory.
Makes him appear as a madman rather than human. I think he's moved on. I don't trust his judgement regarding the succession plan of the club, but I don't think that means he's trying to keep control of the club.
RI were so pissed off that Woodward wouldn't have an interview with them that they spread his contact info on twitter and encouraged people to send him abuse. I wouldn't pay much attention to them.
