Maguire | he stays!

Has to be a poker game between us and him and his agent... he must want to leave and we want him gone. Who folds first?

Hypothetically, if we keep him for one more year as cover and Pavard stays put to sign for us next summer as a free agent, will we be better off or worse off, financially?

Exactly it’s just a standoff over money now, could be West Ham who fold first if they get fed up and find another option.

We pay another year of his salary, his value will drop significally, will Pavard be interested next season? Might be a financial loss as well as a sporting one

On the bench :(
Was always gonna be on the bench. We won't sell him until a replacement is sorted. With Bayern rejecting our offer for Pavard, looks like there is still some negotiations to be done there. So Maguire will stay until Pavard is sorted. Would probably expect this situation to be sorted either towards the end of this week or early next week.

We don't want to be doing a Liverpool in that we let the player leave before having a replacement sorted.

He doesnt have the speed or recovery pace for a high defensive line, hence the need to get rid of him. WH will suit him perfectly, low defensive line, no space to run in behind and no need for maguire to be put out of his comfort zone.
I agree to an extent, and I think he’ll excel at West Ham. But it’s less of an issue for England because Pickford actually comes off his line. De Gea is a nightmare for a centre back

This was never getting done before our game, Todibo will probably accelerate now after the Bayern news and Maguire is probably gone by Wednesday.

It would be such a short-term thinking. He will be 31 by next summer, with one year on his contract. Let’s assume that somehow we will be able to sell him for 15’ (a big if), with the wages he is on, it will mean that this year of him as fourth/fifth choice would cost around 25m.

Keeping him will be such a United move.
Yeah. Madness imo.

I find that hard to believe to be true. Think custis is playing to the crowd on this one.

Had to laugh when the co commentator on sky said it was a testament to Maguire that ETH trusted him to sit on the bench while this move was going on.

Yes, let’s take a Sun article at face value as fact. That’s always the smart thing to do!!
Hes clearly asking for a payoff. Its been reported by various outlets before today

The United bench tonight was thin. Calls for selling Maguire and McTom on the cheap are going to leave the manager very short.

I’m not sure the owners will sanction much extra funds either this summer either.

If its true then ruin his career, just send him to the stands and condemn him to individual training for the duration of his contract. We are too nice so everyone thinks they can grab money from us.

Well within his right to ask it. Well within our right to put him train with U18 for the next two years if he maintains this demand.

Was stupid what ETH said for him and then having him on the bench. We should make to him clear that it is either West Ham or reserves.

Forget the 15m figure.. I don't think we are keen on any payoff.. If he wants to play, he leaves.. If not, he stays as 4th choice.. I think we are fine with both..
the transfer fee isnt large enough to considering paying him off to leave..

Yeah didn't come on to finish the game while hanging on, should tell you all you need to know.
