Man United appoint Moyes | Round, Woods, Lumsden, P Neville in; Giggs player/coach; Albert stays

:lol: It's just that this is not a spur of a moment choice. He has been watching Moyes for years and had him earmarked for his job. No matter how much charm offensive Jose tried to use. Will be interesting to see how nice Jose is about us next season.

D'you reckon that Jose thought the job would be offered to him?

But, but...... Brendan invented football, and Moyes is a one dimensional long ball merchant

Yeah, passing attactive football. Thanks a lot Scousers but I think I prefer a manager who has finished ahead of you twice in a row recently and assembled a very good side at low cost proving he has good eye for a player and who can get the best out of his players.

God only knows. Sir Alex's retirement has come as such a shock. Maybe Jose thought he was going to stay another couple of years before retiring. Jose a couple of years at Chelsea, par for the course, and then this job would be his. Only Jose knows.

He doesn't deserve anyone's support because he has not done shit yet. His numbers at Everton are appalling. We have no idea if he is SAF's first choice. For all you people know he could be Glazer's sole choice. He is a lightweight in a heavyweight's ring. I am sick and appalled at his appointment.

 kin hell just seen this. Where do these people come from, theres been a load come out of the woodwork since Wednesday you never hear of.

Frankly thats a good thing looking at some of the posts.

Welcome David Moyes. To a successful tenure at the greatest club on earth!!! And at least he wont be jumping ship in 3 years.

And while everyone is entitled to their opinion, I dont get why there's such upset. If Mourinho has already agreed to join Chelsea, are there any other managers who meet all the "requirements". Success in another country does not guarantee success here. And the second most successful manager of the last 26 years - Arsene Wenger - was hired from the fecking J-League!

Moyes setup to play to the strengths of the players he had at Everton. There's a big difference at Manchester United...he's got a squad in a completely different league and can basically sign almost any player he wants.

That's the point though, it's an entirely new experience for him. He's not used to the demands at a club of this size at all. He's never had the expectations to live up to that he will here and my personal opinion is that he doesn't have the necessary tools to make a success of it.

It's a massive, massive risk this appointment.

Philadelphia according to posters info.

Haha, good point about Wenger :)

By the way, why did Sir Alex retire so suddenly? Had someone let the cat out of the bag and he had to announce it a couple of weeks early?

This game is all about taking risks, on and off the field. Sometimes they don't pay off and sometimes they do. All we can do now is get behind our new manager, rather you feel negative about the appointment or not.

There's no better man I'd want behind a risky decision than SAF anyway. He gets things wrong, but more often than not, gets them right.

Think so.He just moved quicker than the rest.Never going to let the press get the jump on him, yet again he put one over on them:lol:

He hasn't really explained it but he's said before that when he retires it would be because of health reasons. It takes many months to recuperate from a hip replacement surgery. He wouldn't be back until November. And who knows how his health situation is going to be like then?

Moyes is his ideal replacement and he's out of contract this summer. The puzzles fit.

Seriously why are people so sure that Mourinho would pick us if it came down to United and Chelsea?

He's unfashionable but everything else about him seems like the perfect fit, listening to Yorke and Cole speak about him only strengthens this view.

I'm giving him my full support.

Sunday will see Fergie asking for the same from the fans, I'm sure.

GGMU!

Six years, moyes won the lottery and we got the wooden spoon. I always thought the handover would be handled better but this seems rushed.

I don't have much faith in him, United will stick with him but we have dropped the ball big time.

Don't get me wrong like, the minute he takes control he's got my full support. I just don't see anything wrong about speculating about such a monumental decision at this early stage.

One thing that will be good is that once things settle (hopefully it gets to that stage) he won't overshadow the club and the team, which Mourinho/Pep might have (well, one definitely would have). I would've enjoyed Jose's antics though for the most part.

rawk and bluemoon can't stop laughing.

It's gonna be a challange, very interesting summer. But already miss Sir Alex.

Can the mods merge all of the Moyes threads? It's hard to keep track of them all.

And merging them into a single 10,000 post thread makes things easier?

Anyway, this is a new policy they're trying to get in place, less megathreads.

Will there be a movie about us and Moyes in his first season just like with Project Rodgers? :smirk:

Let them laugh, we have just won the league. Our club is nicely set up for years. City is a madhouse and Liverpool is all potential and no substance. Take no notice. If Mancini doesn't do better in CL next year, then he will get his marching orders.

Dropped the ball? feck me, he's only signed the papers a few hours ago and he's being written off. Judge him on results for christ sake.

What the feck have rawk got to laugh at?

They outspent us the last two years, and have finished below the team our next manager is currently in charge of both times, despite him spending less.

What do they think will happen when he can spend as much as they do with a team already 30+ points better than them.

If hes shit, what the feck is brenton.

Wow, one with an actual fecking David Brent mongoloid in charge and a guy who's playing unlimited funds Football Manager in real life and relinquished the title with a whimper in charge.

Yeah, we are the ones who've dropped the ball with our manager here....

They signed Joe Allen, we missed out on a good 'un there.

I love that they see this as such a fantastic news. They need something to be happy about after the season.

There's an FA Cup Final this weekend and not a single solitary feck is currently being given. Imagine how mad that is driving city fans. Then again they've probably forgotten themselves such is the obsession with us and Fergie.
