So it seems that there's only one way to qualify - beat Benfica.

Funny, that we never score when I watch United game in my room. Something like 10 games watched in my room so far, 0 goals scored by United. Strange.

Couldn't defeat (or score) against a club minus it's two best players and on home soil...I'm not too optimistic of getting 3 points in Portugal when Benfica will be needing a win to possibly advance. Things go wrong, and United not only crash out of CL, but no UEFA Cup spot either.
 
No, Benfica would have 7 points then, 1 more than we got.

The only thing that could play in our favour is that Benfica should come to attack. That, ofcource, does not mean they will.

Them needing to win could be a good thing in Benfica, it will leave us some space, we always do well when teams come at us, I think its the defensive nature of the opposition which we struggle with these days.

They'll have to come out firing. A win is the only thing that keeps them alive in Europe.

Yes, we needed a win, but it was not a must-win game, as draw still gives us a chance. In Lisbon we will got to win.

I will watch Benfica game in the living room, we are usually lucky, when I'm there.

Therefore:-

If we beat Benfica we are definitely through. If we draw we will go through if Villareal win at home to Lille.

Not an ideal position for us but we are still very much alive.

i just worry that we don't seem able to score goals in CL
 
Look at it this way we've never won the uefa cup so lets not loose at Benfica!!!!! Anyway the champions league is boring :rolleyes:
 
My verdict on tonight:

All round good performance, Rio looked alot better, Ruud played well. Rooney again shone out. Park looked good when he came on, and Saha didnt look too rusty. Nice to see GN come back! :)

Did anyone notice, ITV pundits really dont want United to go through, or was that me?

if Villarreal and Lille draw we're out because we lost in the away game against Lille on NOV 2.
