Man Utd vs Arsenal (sunday)

That's just lies.

I think they have better quality in depth, just not the quantity, which seems to be the opposite with us.

Really big players missing, Ronaldo is probably our best midfield player and he's been a little cnut and fecked off elsewhere, Ole is a very valuable player, aswell as obviously Ruud and Louis who are top class centre forwards, the former probably the best in Europe. And Wes is a big part of our defence, I fear for us without him at the back, for some reason we seem like we have a defence who are strangers to each other. Aswell as Heinze who Fergie see's as a big part of our defence. And obviously Rio too.

And even Kleberson is a creative player who has looked good when given a run.

Added to Fletch who played in the middle hasnt played since May, Quinton hasnt played for half a year, Scholes has only played 60 minutes, with all the above in consideration, I dont think we did too bad.

Seems like most of the Arses youth players are ready for the step up...and true they have more quality in depth.

GH got slaughtered by so many (Mancs contributed to this plenty) for signing Heskey. And maybe rightly so. Now let's be consistent - your Scotsman is a plank for spending £7m on forlan when he's clearly shyte.

Fact is, shit happens - and when it does, you need backup players who can do a job. Yours dont look good enough. Arsenal's do.

We were out 8 players.

Arse were out 3.

Our backups started the game. Our reserve players fininshed it against Arsenal's backups.

We all know we've got a tough couple of months ahead of us. Rubbing our faces in it doesn't change that.

Who are your '8' ? Are you saying they all would've played?

Arsenal were missing Campbell, Vieira, Pires and Ljungberg, all of whom would be in their first 11. That's 3 quarters of their midfield.

Yes you missed players, but i dont think you had 8 first teamers out.

Boro must be breathing a sigh of relief. I'm a huge fan of Fergie's, but he fecked up with Forlan. Okay, he made a mistake, but he should have got rid of him at the first opportunity after the last season.

Seems we agree that he's a bit of a plank then. Good.

'shit happens', what kind of cretinous comment is that?

Look at the players missing, key players and also players who PROVIDE our strength in depth.

Arsenal are pretty thin on the ground in terms of depth, no better than United certainly, your telling me Cygan is an apt replacement for Campbell over a stretch of time? You're saying Gilberto and Fabregas are good replacements for Vieira? Pennant can replace Pires? Ludicrous, they won today primarily because of our lack of match fitness and injuries, I thought it was pretty even when we had Keane, Giggles, Scholes, Smith on the pitch, they were replaced by youngsters who got over-ran by players with more experience and match fitness than them, as you would expect.

Reyes should have scored after his good run
Uniteds defence was shite for the first 2 goals
Smith goal was fantastic
We should never have had that many reserve players on at the same time.
How on earth Ashley Cole could even think about claiming that goal I don't know

I'm just gutted we lost, I don't believe this bullshit about it being bad luck. A trophy is a trophy

Right now that pointless match is over we can focus on some real matches. Don't worry I'm not like some Man utd fans, I won't be bragging about this match next April if we are about to lose the title

Some real plus points though, apart from Gilberto our midfield was all under 21 and all 3 were really good especially Reyes and Cesc. Reyes MOM and rightly so, have high hopes for this kid and he is getting better and better with every game. Thought Cesc would get dominated by keane but he held his own against him. Pennant also in the 2nd half really showed his quality, his decision making needs improving but otherwise did well. RvP came on and did pretty well as well imo, held onto possession well. Lauren looked VERY rusty but our other defenders did well, Cole had yet another brilliant game.

Don't think the mancs need to be too upset about this as many of their main players were out. Oh and 2 people were arrested over that lighter thing and rightly so.

Van, they're better than you. Their 1st team is better than your first team. Their backup is better than your backup. Their manager has a better knack of signing good unknowns than yours.

Those are major contributing factors as to why they beat you today, and why they're better than you.

The longer it takes to see reality and accept that, the more it'll hurt each time they beat you.

Don't let the moron wind you up.

We shouldn't even allow people who have no interest in the game, to post in here.

Good thing then that they so rarely beat us...
Last 10 matches we have won 4, you have won 3 and 3 drawn...

Does any body have Smiths goal on file yet?

Our defense was poor... We need to shape up over the next few weeks to stay in serious contention so that when the big boys return we can make a surge to the finishing post...

Agree with that. Our makeshift defense was shite, as was Forlan and Bellion. I'm sure they've been working hard but sorry they just don't make the grade.

read through the posts earlier......someone had said Howard played like shit?

Watching the match now (delay on FSW) where the hell was all the defense on that first goal by Silva...THREE attckers btwn Howard and any other red shirt. WTF

I rang the "wake up call" bell after the 3 USA losses - I was mocked.

No need to panic, after all this just another "meaningless friendly" - according to many posters here. :nono:

That's like us saying we were out Beckham in last year's Shield. Viera is a gonner. Face it.

And I'm sorry, but Pires isn't going to be a first teamer if you guys have any sense. Reyes is much better.

We were out RVN, Saha, Brown, Heinze, Rio, and Ronaldo/Ole who would have started if able to.

We were missing 3 quarters of our defense, both of our strikers, and a key winger.

And if they had been fit, Miller and Kleberson would have gotten second half action as well.

A nonsense game as it always is, with absolutely no bearing on what will happen in the coming months. Yeah winning is always better than losing, but as I said of little or no consequence, just a nice day down at Cardiff for the fans. Some plus points from The Arsenal point of view, Fabrigas, Reyes and Pennant, but nothing to get too excited about.

Not what they're like on arse-world. One goon thinks Reyes and Toure are world class and would walk into any team in europe. He also says all the youngsters are world class too.

Let's face it, in all our pre-season matches we've fielded significantly weakened sides, lacking any real consistency in selection. The positive is that fringe players have been given valuable experience. Yesterday, not only that, but the senior players must surely have had half a mind on Wednesday, which, unlike friendlies, is kind of important.

Sure the defence looked shakey, but no surprise given how rusty O'Shea and Fortune must have been, and with Keane playing at half pace. And our second half forward line was mainly Carling Cup players. The real work is being done on the training pitch. Wednesday will be the ideal competitive preparation for a flying start on Sunday.

I can't think of any reasonable excuse as to why O'Shea should be rusty. He's played in all of our pre season games.
