Manchester City facing Financial Fair Play sanctions

So they can get their money back? That's rather silly, it's way too soft IMO.

You can only hope this is so lenient because it's a warning shot as it's early days for FFP. If they are equally lenient in the future then FFP is pointless and no one will respect it.

What is that ? : "Furthermore Manchester City agrees that revenues from the sale of assets within their group structure will not be included in future break-even calculations"

They "sold" their intellectual property to “related parties” i.e City’s American and Australian franchises and the club’s own women’s team

So they tried to cheat, thanks. ;)

It's basically a "don't spend a shit ton of money this Summer" sanction.

City have just about got into "the club", whereby you can stick 2 fingers up and say "we're trying" They are now fine going forward. Laughable.

I know it sounds stupid, but it's still only their first breach of the rules, I'd assume the punishments will go up further should they continue, the wage cap is what they'll struggle with though, although Lescotts going off their books, but don't they still have to extend the deals of Yaya, Aguero AND Silva? So theres the Lescott money already.

I guess I was on all three there, extended in 2013.

Haha, laughable.

Will they even notice that?

Four players and a couple of quid?

They will because it's endless, if they don't comply, it's just gonna be worse, since the uefa will comeback every years.

They can't spend a lot this summer and the next one, they can't re-sign their young stars with better contracts, etc...

Four players will have a big effect because of the Home Grown Rule (that city will struggle to comply with unless they sign some decent English Players)

They'll have to get younger players, and probably a couple of British players. Unlike Chelsea their academy is not yet ready to supply their homegrown needs so they probably are going to find it tough. Its a harsher penalty than it seems.

And decent English players aren't cheap so with them not being able to spend much this summer due to the various limitations and with Lescott leaving and Barry presumably wanting to go, it will be pretty tough on them.

That squad limit will definitely inconvenience them. Might have to leave a couple of decent players out of their CL squad completely in order to comply with the home grown rules.

Is it my impression or there's not a single mention of the fake sponsorship deals. They say they can't improve the 2nd tier commercial partnerships, which probably means they can't increase those revenues further, but the ones they already made were probably accounted as fair revenue then. Am I reading this right?

A load of hypocritical bullshit, it's what it is. No surprises there.

The squad limit will definitely be a pain. They've been told to reduce spending this summer and next too, correct?
They'll find it hard to manage that. 2/3 key players get injured and they'll be in a spot of bother.

there was 1 contract that has been re-evaluated from 300m to 100m but i'm not sure for who.

Well the Premier league already has the fairest split of any major league. The difference between the highest earner and the lowest this year was only £35M (£97M vs £62M).

The real problem is the rampant commercial and matchday income, where United dwarfs most other clubs.
So we're not allowed to utilise a global appeal and fan Base that we've built up and earned over many many years yet city are plaudits to have billionaire owners come in and sweep up every player for no other reason than winning the lottery of buyers within 5 years. Good one that.

So the club themselves say that the net spend sanction won't even effect them. With player sales and £50m this really won't hurt them at all.

The Sheik is probably sipping his champagne and laughing.

Isn't it just "expenditure"? I don't think they mean net spend. So it's £50m and no more regardless of sales. They'll probably need those either wayto achieve the €20m loss for next year. They can only lose 30m in the next two seasons.

It looks as it really forces them to put a brake into it. But the overall feeling I get is that them and PSG are getting a sort of "well, you've joined the circle just in time".

Anyone know how the FFP calculations will be done next year. I mean will the accounts of 2012-2015 be taken into consideration?.

Nothing but a CL ban will do. If they can get 300m from their owner for stadium name rights, these fines are pocket change.

MCFC's actual statement says it's €60m + player sale cash I believe.

They only fielded 21 players this past season anyways apparently, so this punishment is literally useless.

I think the useless part is your grasp of it to be honest

Possibly, I think I misread that. All UEFA statement says is that they will have to limit their spending. I was confusing two different €60m.

Biggest limitation seems to be only 30m loss allowed during next two seasons then.

Out of this 21 players, eight have to be homegrown. How many do city have who are good enough in europe.

Does that mean the next round of FFP for city will be only in two years time??.

This will pretty much put a stop to the next big team in the land. No one will be able to buy a team and buy loads of players to enhance it unless the team already has a good income ( like us :) )

I actually didn't mind the rise of chelsea and city. They made this league better.
