Starting to think Mourinho has improved United more than Guardiola's improved City.
Before Guardiola City were good going forward and weak at the back, and still are. Before Mourinho United were dull and reactive, and that has definitely been resolved.

Rude awakening for Pep but he is too good a manager not to adjust his style in time for the benefit of the team. 4 months in a new league doesn't define a manager.
We can still be pretty reactive.
Coming into the season I did not think they had too many holes in their squad to win the title. But, I thought we would win the title and that Chelsea will not make CL places. So I obviously know nothing.
From when I heard about him playing Clichy and Sagna as hybrid fullbacks/central midfielders I did start to question him. Just sounded like madness that waited to bite him back. I've always rated Pep, but he does seem to have a tendency to overcomplicate things.
I can't wait to see Pep's post match interview, he will be even more condescending and bitchy than normal.
He is going to need an entirely new backline next season.
My bad, I forgot about Bayern but again that was more of a tap in than a real challenge.

Are you serious? Unproven? He won 14 trophies in his first 4 years alone in management and he didn't exactly take over a Barcelona team that was sweeping all before them, they were in turmoil. If Pep is unproven then who in Gods name is proven?
I think he means in a competitive league like the PL where there are no clear top teams like the Bundesliga and La Liga.
Barcelona did sweep all before them though. It's like saying Conte took a side who finished 7th to first when, in reality, it was a top side suffering an indifferent season.
This City side are in much worse shape than the Barca side Pep took over

La Liga was highly competitive before he took over Barcelona, he turned them into the clear top dogs. They had finished 18 points behind Madrid the year before Pep. It's typical of modern football these days, players and managers written off after months at a new club/league. I hope to feck he fails spectacularly but I doubt it. He knows now he has to adjust his style.
Pep's style is outdated. Been shown up in an embarrassing fashion several times with Bayern against the Spanish teams. Said it before he even managed a game for City, he's going to struggle in the EPL.

Well if he doesn't know now he will never know. I feel he always imagined his style would work in any league, any environment, total confidence in his ability. But now he surely realises you need a different way for the Premier League.

If any league is going to give you a rude awakening about probably being too smart for your own good it's this one, players feed off the emotion of the crowd and play with so much adrenaline here that momentum changes things very quickly. The physicality of the league also makes those who rest a week and play no midweek games thrive more. Look at Leicester last year and now Chelsea and Liverpool.
He's made a huge mistake with the Hart/Bravo situation and doesn't seem to have improved Stones at all, it's a test for his coaching and man management and probably one he will rise to eventually. So far I don't think there's ever been a single manager who hasn't been found out at one time or another in this league. The key is adapting.
