Trying to equalize. There is no difference losing 2-1 or 3-1 you nitpicker.

feck off.

A defender's job is to backtrack. Countless other times they go forward but are back to pick up the counter. City were passing the ball around, spent about 6-7 seconds in the box...plenty of time to get defenders back.

Clue.

3rd place for us again  I'm going to sleep, feck citeh

We played shit... If we carry on doing so then yes we're fecked, simple as that really...

Re the ronaldo sending off.

Anyone remember the 2-footed lunge on Veron by Gerrard at Anfield in 2001? Cos I seem to remember the reason he didn't get sent off was because he made no contact. Funny that

Come on, just because Veron was not sent off does not mean that Ronaldo should not have been sent off. That was Bennett's only correct decision in the match.

the red card was laughable, yes he was frustrated and went with studs showing, but if you see the replay, he was just lunging, never gonna make contact (even though the commentator kept on going about how the citeh player CLEVERLY avoided it). Fook me, he'd have had to do a long jump to connect with Ronaldo's challenge...it should have been a yellow, only because he made an unnecessary lunge due to frustration..but it was never like he went to get the player's leg..far from it...ridiculous...eager to hear Fergie's comments on this...fooking Pleat kept on going how about he deserved to go..is he an ABU or what???

what about when Stephen Jordan actually made contact with Rooney's knee in the first half...lunged in with studs showing....yet nothing given and Mr Pleat saw nothing wrong with that...

by the way, was it David Pleat or Trevor Frabcis..whomever it was..what a fecking cnut!

Sorry for my ignorance, But why is Wes Brown not Playing????
Silvestre iwas on probably SAF wanted someone to communicate with Evra.
Silvestre ruined United today. I would have thought that O'Shea who is no- nonsense today should have stayed and Silvestre substituted. I guessed the coaches might have thought that they need Silvestre's speed to counter Vassell but it is not Vassells speed but the fumbling of Silvestre that caused United dearly today. Again tactical unawareness of the coaching team that led to United downfall. United should have try shooting more often from outside the box instead of getting the crosses in as David James is not fully fit.
Another setback for United is the poor standard of refreeing. Some of the decision is so obvious that the refree and linesmen are favouring City.
Trevor Sinclair got immediate attention by the refree but Rooney's first half crock by Jordan did not get any attention and also no immediate attention on Saha head knock.
Do the EPL have some sort of anti-corruption board to check on the refree and linesmen? They or their relatives may have betted secretly in the bookmakers against United since the odds is good for City winning.

I would love to know why Halsey was replaced by Bennett in the first place

THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE will investigate claims that referee Mark Halsey celebrated with Manchester City fans after their recent play- off victory at Wembley. The Hertfordshire official was allegedly seen drinking with City supporters at the hotel where he was staying, the Wembley Hilton, hours after refereeing their penalty shoot-out win against Gillingham.

City came back from two goals down to take the game into extra time with a dramatic equaliser deep into stoppage time. They went on to win the penalty shoot-out, after the game finished 2-2, and returned to the First Division at the first attempt.

The Gillingham chairman, Paul Scally, was said to be unhappy and has already spoken to the Football League to demand action. A League spokesman, Chris Hull, said they had received a number of enquiries. There was nothing wrong with the referee enjoying a quiet drink in the bar afterwards but the League proposed to investigate the matter further. Gianluca Vialli, the Chelsea player-manager, has hung up his boots and vowed: "From now on I will only be a coach." The 34-year-old Vialli told an Italian newspaper: "I'm not playing any more. The time has come for me to become a more conventional coach, Italian-style, someone who goes more deeply into things." He added: "Obviously, every time I think about it, my heart twinges." The Leicester City manager Martin O'Neill has labelled Tottenham's reported pounds 6m enquiry for his striker Emile Heskey as "derisory". The Spurs director of football, David Pleat, confirmed that his club had spoken to Leicester about Heskey's availability, while Liverpool are also said to be interested. But O'Neill insisted no bid had been made for the powerful 21-year-old England prospect. "I would prefer Emile to stay," O'Neill said, "but if he decides it's time to go then we will look for the best price. He has only a year left on his contract and is therefore in the driving seat."

All right, providing Bennett doesn't send half our team off for failing to foul City players, let's get stuck in and get something.

You feck off you prick. If Rio and Gary had tracked back, that would have given United no chance of getting the equaliser.

Beyond words...there's no excuse for this!

Before the game I wouldnt swap a single of their players for any of ours. Afterwards I'd have given Silvestre away for free, but STILL wouldnt want any of their players..... How the hell then can we be so bloody poor.

Started well enough, reasonable approach play, but constantly broke down, and always with what should've been a bread-n-butter pass. Ruud had a stinker (very poor first touch - credit to Distin mebbe), Ronaldo poncin around with no end product, nothing to offer in midfield, and then we come to Silvestre..... What a stinker. Praying that Vidic is the answer :(

Fergie and Rooney in ref row after City defeat

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and striker Wayne Rooney are facing a Football Association investigation into allegations that they confronted referee Steve Bennett at the interval of their team's 3-1 defeat away to Manchester City.

The pair are alleged to have hurled expletive-ridden outbursts at Bennett in the tunnel at the Eastlands Stadium after United took a 2-0 deficit into the break.

Rooney is also said Saturday to have caused damage to United's dressing room door as he swore and hurled abuse at the referee in front of numerous eye witnesses.

United were infuriated at City's first goal by Trevor Sinclair which, they claimed was offside, and of a booking Rooney received for dissent just before the half-time whistle.

Matters worsened in the second half as Cristiano Ronaldo was shown a straight red card for a lunge at Andy Cole and, if Bennett reports the United pair in his post-match paperwork, worse could follow with FA disciplinary sanctions a possibility.

Bennett was not originally scheduled to officiate in the match but took charge after fellow referee Mark Halsey cried off earlier in the week through injury.

Defeat left United 13 points behind leaders Chelsea ahead of the champions' match away to bottom-of-the-table Sunderland on Sunday.

Btw. did Fowler show us that there was still no amputation on his hand ?
