Calm down, it was hardly orgasmic by any means. Its a gritty match and we've showed the greater strength on the ball likes of Rafael, Anderson and Rooney have impressed but our midfield in general has done just enough to keep us on top even though they've been rather meh.

Arsenal have a very lightweight lineup out tonight, pretty much the same again as the past 5 years then.
 
I'd feel more confident if Anderson sat abit deeper to protect that gaping hole on the counter, other than that can't complain so far.
 
Don't see any reason why a 442 with Berbatov wouldn't work against them. Hopefully a tactical change in the second half.
 
Lucky to get the goal but no doubt you need a bit of luck along the way :). If we can get another I think Arsenal heads might drop. Arsenals passing has been weak compared to normal games so far but we've done well so far.
 
Strange game this is. Thank feck we scored, cause I don't think we had any clear chances. As I said before, I don't see us losing this one, was worried about wasting chances,but we did quite the opposite- scored with no chances at all

I agree i dont like him playing this far forward would rather see him deeper spraying passes about. Still a goal to the good so cant complain
 
Great half from us

Important to not gift them a way back in because there'll be room for us to exploit...Andersonj and Rafael played well, Fletcher and Carrick have broke play up but sometimes played a nervy ball.

Arsenal are 14/1 to win on bet365 :eek:

thought Webb has been good so far. He let them off with warnings earlier on. But has since shown cards.

I thought Arsenal have been good too. When they had the ball they have looked very good. But being cautious they have not had that extra man up front.

We have contained them well so far.

I tell you...I have been thrilled by Anderson.

We have some player on our hands...finally. ;)

I think we've been lucky Arsenal have been really shit on the counter, every decision they have made has been wrong. Plenty of times they've just made a few passes and our midfield is gone.

I agree, I don't see why Anderson can't be used deeper and we have Berba dovetailing with Rooney.

As it is, we're one nil up and if it ain't broke, don't fix it.. we have the right lineup out there to protect this lead hopefully.
 
Rooney and Rafael have played well, both sides have given the ball away cheaply on numerous occasions, sloppy and nasty stuff in there tonight but we have just edged it, nice header from Park.
 
All this talk about us playing the best football we've seen this season.....what? We've looked solid and kept the ball well but we've hardly created any clear cut chances. Watch a tape of us against Blackburn the other week and see how good we can be.

Webb should've clamped down after the first challenge by Clichy. He also missed a foul on Fletcher which may have lead to a goalscoring opportunity...and a possible handball.
 
Can't believe Ando's freekick, I was waiting for an epic freekick like the one that he got in the friendly with Bayern a few years back.

Erm. Have you seen how effectively we've been able to cramp them from room with our 3 men in there.

I see no reason to change it at all.

The highlight reel for this first half for me is Ando taking that FK in the end. :cool: It was spectacular.
 
I'd expect to see Berbatov on for Anderson soon. There's no way he can keep this pace up unless he's been running up sand dunes all summer.
 
2nd half came at the right time for them. They were about to hit the self-destruct button.
 
I don't think we should be changing anything. This formation and selection of players clearly works. And with regard to Rooney not getting much service, be that as it may, he is dropping deep and linking up well with the likes of Anderson and Nani. There are chances in which he could have done better to score but if we keep on playing like we did, we should be able to see it through.
