Manchester United v Aston Villa

Sentimental pick, If Nani's fit he should start over Young.

Hardly.

I wanted Nani to start too but Fergie's clearly easing him back in. He's had what? ABout 20mins of football in how long?

No point rushing him and forcing a recurrance. He'll get some minutes I'm sure.

Good lineup. Decent bench. Hope we are 1-0 within 10 minutes and score another by half time just to ease the nerves of the players and the fans.

Is that too much to ask?

Great bench, I think we will score couple of goals in second half(too). Where is Smalling?

I hope the game is won by half time, because I have to go to work and I'll miss the second half :(
As long as we have a pretty comfortable lead, I'll be happy.

Reading the last page, you could think Young has been terrible recently.

Haters?

Either that or Nani is a better player than him?

Very disappointed he's not starting. This would be the perfect game for him.

what is with all the Nani love in this thread? Come on, he has only played 20 minutes in our last game, I wouldnt throw him in at the start. No need to rush him at all.

I was hoping both of them started, and dropped welbeck so we have a front four of nani, young, Rooney and Valencia interchanging. I think we used this for a bit in the away game to villa.

Young has been pretty good in recent weeks though so it's understandable if he's kept his spot for now.

He has? He scored against Blackburn but I don't remember him doing much else, he's been getting subbed early doors lately as well cos he doesn't do anything.

Or maybe some fans wouldn't mind seeing Nani back in the line up, anyway i expect to see him come on at some point today

I don't think we were bad actually. Only the last 15 mins or so but apart from that we did fine and with an in-form striker we should have won by more

Considering we played a weakened side who has been struggling away from home all season - and they were down to 10 men after 13 minutes.

Yes we were bad

He didnt deserve to get subbed against Wigan though, I was expect Giggs to come of for instance before anyone else in midfield. He was tracking back fairly well, just nothing happening at the opposite end. The hole team was shite against Wigan.

Probably starting Young since we are playing Villa - and that bench. We can't complain about lack of attacking options today

Given, Hutton, Collins, Baker, Lichaj, Bannan, Gardner, Clark, Ireland, Weimann, Agbonlahor. Subs: Guzan, Johnson, Delfouneso, Heskey, N'Zogbia, Cuellar, Carruthers.

What is wrong with smalling... Personally I wish he was on the bench not jones

I'd agree there, he's such a fantastic defender, if Rio went lame I know which I'd prefer to see coming on to replace him...

My reply:

We're at home to a struggling Aston Villa. It's the perfect game to play him in. He's a fit lad, I'm sure he'd manage, and he's a much better player (no offence) than Young.

We only have 1 game a week from now on, it's not like he has a lot of games to ease his way back in. 20 minutes a week is hardly going to do him a world of good.

He did more than just score at Blackburn, he gave us some much needed width on the left and was key in us winning. He was fine against QPR, dive and all, and he did a great job against Wigan defensively in the first half. SAF decided to change the system at half time as we were getting murdered in midfield so he took off Young, through no fault of his own.

Basically it's a bit unfair to say he is only playing today for sentimental reasons.

We've got an expert on this, his name is Park Ji Sung.

Yeah everyone was shit against Wigan but he ranges from average to mediocre pretty much everytime he plays.

One of the weakest Villa sides I have seen come to OT for a long time. No excuses today, come on United!

I really hate it when we play against Agbonlahor. Also Bannan has shown some quality, including against us in the 2-2 at Villa Park last season.

But on the other hand: BERBA!!

Villa going to frustrate us arent they and look like a top 6 side? :side:

ffs, I only woke up a few hours ago and 4pm cant come quick enough. Its like im not doing anything because I cant wait for the game.

Exactly.

No point starting Nani today when McLeish will have Villa backs to the wall. I have a feeling that this game will be very much like the Blackburn one, where we'll be banging on their door non-stop but leave ourselves open to the counter.

Young has the fitness to keep up a high tempo for 60 minutes; Nani will have a greater impact against tired legs with his trickery.

Looking forward to this, I want to see Welbeck earn his place today. Too much fancy shit recently and not enough end-product.

...You can't just drop young as soon as Nani becomes fit. Terrible man management and no faith being shown whatsoever if he did.
