Manchester United V Charlton

Probably have to play Rooney, if not, he won't get a game for a while (up until our tie with Lille).

Saha looked sharp, I hope he starts.

I would play:

GK: The Pole
RB: Brown (Please let him have a run out Fergie)
LB: Heinze
CB: Rio
CB: Vidic
RM: Park
LM: Ronaldo
CM: Fletcher
CM: Carrick
ST: Rooney
ST: Saha

Bring two of these three on when we are up big; Smith, Dong (longshot maybe), Ole.
That's the team i'd start with with maybe evra in instead of heinze but subbed for him if we are doing well.

Hope Ronaldo score a couple to move clear of Drogba in the scoring charts.

What is Chelsea's next opponent, anyone knows?

It is pretty fine with me with me whether Rooney or Larsson start against Charlton. But for now I prefer Saha accompany them as starter.

If possible Alan Smith & Dong Fangzhou also available at bench as well. Hopefully

Why are people resting Scholes? It will have been 6 days since his last game.

Strongest possible team has to play. Rooney will get a rest against Reading so he will play in this game for sure.

Saha will start upfront imo, he came on against Spurs and was excellent.

Rest: The Neviller

3-1 United (2x Saha, Giggs - Holland)

State of the pitch and current form @ Charlton means Charlton have a good chance of fighting this one out.

Playing anything other than the strongest team till were 2-0 would be stupid.

Saha wont start, so Henke. and Carrick in for Oshea, but other wise the same team as Sean_RedDevil

Are you talking about the Charlton pitch? Because we are playing this one at home.

Our pitch, got cut up ral good today. Both boxes looked in a real state. Whenever Crouch got the ball he was more intent in kicking up a divot than the ball, but that is hardly his fault. ;)

will the players be tired after their friendlies?

Doubt it, the England lot didn't really look bothered tbh. Carrick didnt do too much running either. Then again he never does.

int' friendlies aside, what about rio, he looked out of sorts at some of the games?

i don't think he's been out of sorts. In my opinion he's been really good for us in the last couple of games and was Englands best player yesterday ( which is saying alot).

he has been one of our best players this season, he is so consistent that even when he has a great game people dont notice it.

Sir Alex Ferguson has a number of injury concerns ahead of the Premiership clash with Charlton at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Edwin van der Sar is definitely out after breaking his nose in the victory at Tottenham last Sunday. Tomasz Kuszczak will deputise, with Reserves' stopper Tom Heaton likely to be on the bench.

John O'Shea - who took over in goal from van der Sar for the final ten minutes at White Hart Lane - is also unavailable after picking up an ankle knock whilst on international duty for the Republic of Ireland earlier this week.

Michael Carrick (groin) and Cristiano Ronaldo (head cold) should hopefully be fit to face the Addicks, while Wane Rooney has recovered from the hip injury which forced him off after an hour against Spurs.

That looks like a pretty decent line-up to me. Maybe he'll start Larsson though ?? I fancy Ole to get a look in too at some stage. 4-0, no probs !!!

Hope we start with this team..

- - - - Rooney - Saha - - - -
Giggs - Scholes - Fletcher - Park
Heinze - Vidic - Ferdinand - Neville
- - - - - - Kuszczak - - - - - - - -

Subs: Heaton - Carrick - Ronaldo - Evra - Larsson

Prediction: 2-0 United.

We should start with Saha, because he needs games until the champions league match against Lille. Larsson has been brilliant, but I hope he will get a rest. He deserves it. Rooney-Saha for me upfront with Larsson backup.
In midfield Giggs rested for Wales this week so he should be ok for this game. Carrick played 90 minutes for England and has played many games lately, Fletcher deserves a chance.
Ronaldo is so great and we got a lot of important games coming up, we will need a fit Ronaldo for those games so he maybe start of the bench.

Come on Manchester United!

We should not take any risk with Ronaldo and Carrick. Hope they will start on the bench.
Rooney rested for England against Spain so he should be ok to play maybe 90 min vs Charlton.
If we are struggling against Charlton, Ronnie and Carrick will be ready to come on.

Agree with that.

In 2nd Half when Charlton will be tired, Ronaldo will be a very deadly weapon. ::devil:

If we for once take all our chances tomorrow and play majestic football, we can beat this side 8-0 easily.

Realistically, we can expect and 3 or 4 nil, which aint bad of course

I agree about not risking players against Charlton, and I'd play Rooney (as he misses the FA Cup game anyway) and Saha, while Ole and Larsson should/could play in the FA Cup game. I'd also play Giggs whom I'd rest against Portsmouth then. My team:

-----Kusc----------
Gary-Rio-Vida-Evra
Park-Fletch-Scholes-Giggs
---Rooney-Saha----

Still a very strong team who should beat Charlton anyway.

Mike Riley (Leeds, Yorkshire)

Mike Riley is late replacement for Phil Dowd, who is now taking charge of Sunday's Arsenal v Wigan game.

feck, again? :wenger: :wenger: :wenger:

ROONEY FIT FOR ADDICKS CLASH

Wayne Rooney has been passed fit for Manchester United’s Barclays Premiership clash with Charlton Athletic.

Rooney missed England’s midweek defeat to Spain with a hip injury but came through training on Thursday and should be in Sir Alex Ferguson’s starting XI.

Goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak will also start as Edwin van der Sar has been ruled out with a broken nose.

John O’Shea (ankle) is also out, while Michael Carrick (groin) and Cristiano Ronaldo (heavy cold) are both minor doubts.
