hopefully this team will play unless we make a signing this week in midfield which could change things

I like this one the most because it doesn't metion Ronaldo....

But it mentions Rooney and he has been suspended ;)

So Rio and Gary are fit and sharp. Great news.

I think we'll see Fletcher playing in the middle. Scholes/Giggs is too lightweight against the likes of Diop, and Giggs defensive positioning is poor compared to Fletcher's.
I reckon we'll see something like this:

..................VDS..................
Neville...Rio...Brown....Heinze
Ronaldo...Fletcher...Scholes...Giggs
...........Saha...........Rooney.......

It's a 4-4-2 on paper but I can imagine that Giggs will play more as a CM and Ronaldo as a forward, so it'll be more like a 4-3-3.

We've got cover in either Evra or Silvestre.

However, even if you combine them they are nowhere near as good as Gabby. I'm anxious to see Gabby play a full league game again...

yeah, i'm worried if Silvestre plays because he is far from reliable and is always capable of making a stupid mistake. Evra well, maybe he should get the nod since he had a decent pre season. Would love to see him continue in that form.

Skysports.com Prediction: 2-2

A frustrating afternoon for the former Premiership champions.

-What the feck are they talking about, Fulham are such shit, I dont see them netting against United.

well they easily scored 2 when they came to old trafford last time.... they are a decent team it was one of the better attacking games i saw at old trafford last season

Youngsters join Antwerp

Four United youngsters have joined Royal Antwerp on loan until January.

Darron Gibson, Danny Simpson, Jonny Evans and Fraizer Campbell have flown to Belgium, and will spend the next four-and-a-half months learning their trade in the Belgian second division.

All four players appeared for United’s first team during pre-season. Gibson, Simpson and Evans were heavily involved in the Club’s South Africa tour, while Campbell scored the winning goal against Macclesfield at Moss Rose.

Simpson is in his second spell at Antwerp, after spending five months with the Belgians in the second half of last season.

Heinze, Vidic, Carrick out; Rooney inUnited will be without Gabriel Heinze, Nemanja Vidic and new signing Michael Carrick for their season opener with Fulham on Sunday, but Wayne Rooney has been passed fit to play after overcoming a groin strain.

Carrick is set to resume training next week after making good progress since injuring his ankle in only his second match for the Reds.

Vidic is still recovering from the knee injury which ended his World Cup, although he is also expected to return to training in the coming days.

Heinze, meanwhile, is likely to miss the next three weeks after Sir Alex Ferguson revealed that the Argentine is still feeling the effects of the cruciate ligament damage he suffered11 months ago.

Despite representing his country at the World Cup, Sir Alex says Heinze still needs to build up his muscle strength.

"It's not quite what it should be," explained the United boss. "Gabby's therefore going to do some work in the gym over the next three weeks to build up the quadriceps.

"He did very well to get himself fit enough to take part in the World Cup after being out for so long, but I think he stretched himself and the consequences are he's not fully ready for us."

Sir Alex is determined to get to the 2006/07 campaign of to a winning start, but believes the Reds face a stern test against Chris Coleman's side.

"I think Fulham will have a go on Sunday

ya,rooney is in.i think fergie is ready to gamble with rooney, with him having the luxury of resting in the next three games.dont wanna see a non-100% rooney on the first day of the season though.
mickey will be played at left back.fulham have height(as fergie acknowledged),playing evra is a big risk.so it will be mickey,he's not the most reliable against forwards going for long balls though.
does anyone think we might see o'shea at left back if not midfield?
is smith fit for this one?
according to me the team should be:
-----------saha--------------
----------------rooney-------
--giggs:devil: ------------------ronnie
-------------scholes----------
------------o'shea------------
-mickey:boring: ------------------gazz:devil:
----------wes:devil: -------rio-------

Heinze, Vidic, Smith and Carrick are out.

My team:

--------VDS-------
GN---RF---WB---PE
CR---PS---RG---JSP
-----WR---LS------

No were experimenting with cloning after the successful events of Dolly the sheep we now want 3 Wayne Rooney's and we're in the process of getting another Rio Ferdinard.

I reckon it will be
VDS
Gaz Rio Wes Evra
O'Shea
Giggs Scholes
Park Saha Ron

6-1 to Utd with goals from Giggs, Scholes, 2 for Saha & 2 for Ron. That will shut up some of the doom merchants for a couple of hours
