Manchester United v Liverpool

Good result, poor performance but we were comfortable for the entire game and didn't need to up the pace. Giggs & Carrick were excellent imo.

Good performances all round and we did it without VDS, Vidic & Rooney.

Liverpool were extremely poor.
Even with 1 man down they could have actually tried to win the game.

Average performance from us, but it was enough against those cnuts.

were they chanting that again?

could not hear on the telly other than their dog shite YAWN.

There was one scouse prick who was definitely chanting it, ITV had the camera on him for a good 10-15 seconds and that's as conclusive proof as you'll ever need to show how cnutish their fans are.

Disgusting behaviour.

rubbish performance, very frustrating

they were there for a beating and we didn't create anything meaningful, our attacking play is absolute rubbish

poor performances, only good thing though is we won and go into 4th round of the fa cup.

They did well for a no-mark, mid-table club. Can't be easy going to the ground of one of the big clubs and expecting a win.

They were 10x better today than they were against us in the League earlier this season. And they had 11 men that day.

As always. You could even lip read the cnuts doing it on TV.

we had some very good chances early in the second. Should have been 2-0 up with Evans hitting the post.

a couple more clear pens not given.

We did not stretch ourselves.

but we got the result and that's what matters.

Bloody FSC and their pundits are just whack. Even people here on the cafe might argue and put their points across better.

I would hardly say we were rubbish, we could have scored more than one and Evans was unlucky to hit the post. The amount of times we had scrambles in their penalty area and they were throwing bodies everywhere desperately attempting to stop it going in.

That goes to show how shit they are. Becuase we weren't playing close to well. Yet we were owning them at times.

Well done ITV.Have to watch the highlights to hear SAF after match interview. Then again it's all been about King Kenny and the dippers

I thought the entire team did a pretty good job out there today, they did the bare minimal for the win and we always looked comfortable in the knowledge that we could step it up a gear if we wanted to. Mind you, I would have very much preferred if we had scored another before we started doing this.

Giggs was remarkable - to have so much drive and energy shows two things comprehensively, a love for football and a love for United. It's actually an honour to watch him play at our club. The quintessential Manchester United player who embodies everything about our club, enthusiasm, professionalism, skill and unyielding loyalty.

Rafael is absolutely fantastic and really has the world at his feet.

We quite comfortably shown today how superior we are at football, we slowed the tempo down and really never left third gear, this is to our credit, all things considered.

Liverpool were dire, they kicked us all over the park. A poor football outfit.

United are going to give someone a going over at OT soon.

I know mate, its a complete joke. Nearly everything was all about the scousers and their little trips down memory lane. We won and it was still about how well they supposedly did. :wenger:

I don't want Liverpool to go down as it would take away 2 big games to enjoy BUT a little part of me would laugh my arse off if 'King Kenny' took them down, like Keegan and Shearer did for Newcastle. Won't happen though.........

Thought Fletcher had a bad game today but Giggs was brilliant and Anderson coming on added something to our play. Rafael was active too.

Anyone see the Gerrard incident when he was shouting at Rio Ferdinand? I'm no lip reading expert but looked like he called him a w*g. Have no idea why he'd do such a thing as its his England team mate but then why would he be having a big go at him anyway, even in the heat of the game. Looked as clear as day. Glad he got sent off, it was a dangerous two footed tackle and funny how some tried to argue it a little because its him.

FA Cup fourth round draw 29/30th January: Southampton vs Manchester United

I expected to come on this forum after the game and read a few threads that offered an honest assessment of our performance today, I'm startled by what I've read so far....

Against ten men of a vastly inferior team we hardly created any clear cut chances, offered little entertainment, couldn't string five passes together and squandered a great chance to properly embarrass our biggest rivals. We had to rely on a dubious penalty to get us through yet another game by the skin of our teeth. I know I'm going to get slated for being a "moaner" but we were fecking dire today and I shouldn't be the only one on the forum willing to admit it.

I did really feel that against Liverpool of all teams, we should have taken the opportunity to really go for the throat and give them a proper pounding. The we we were seemingly content to just sit on our 1-0 for essentially 90 minutes was very disappointing. I doubt I was alone when after the penalty went in I thought "Great, we are gonna give them a right thumping now!" only to be very underwhelmed by what followed.

A win is a win, all the more so against Liverpool, but the performance was disappointing. I thought our CMs were utterly devoid of any creativity (which isnt the first time either) and that if you are going to play a 4-4-2 then you need some kind of creative input from the middle of the park. For most of the first half we just played it long and hoped someone would latch onto it, and the second half - whilst better - was just a case of getting it out wide to Giggs or Nani and hoping they would produce something.

I was also a bit disappointed we didnt change anything at half time (although saying that, I cant actually remember the last time SAF made a half time substitution - anyone know?) by bringing on a bit more creativity rather than sticking to a pretty rigid 4-4-2.

As it was we created very little despite having a lot of possession. Happy with the win, disappointed with the performance when you consider we had an early lead and were against 10 men for most of the match.

I thought we just did enough, never really in danger of conceding. Giggs turned back the clock at times today and I am really liking the Rafael/Nani combo down our right.

Shut up you spoilt moaning turd.

Scrappy first half but good win - cracking start as well. Got a ticket at the last min so had a great day. From my seat it looked a clear pen and a non-red tackle! Higgs was poor first half but brilliant 2nd. Torres has turned into stan collymore.

Oh good... City have a replay as well :)

To those criticising the performance - who gives a shit, we just beat Liverpool! It's like complaining about the number of smarties on a cookie - it's still a fecking cookie, enjoy it!

Welcome to the real world.

I'm just calling it like I see it, for the record I've watched and played football for twenty years boyo.

then you should know you don't go hell for leather for 90 minutes.

a one goal lead against 10 men is not always a comfortable situation. you have to adjust your tactics.

In the second half we were on top and should have scored. easily been given another penalty.

But as the game progressed, the man advantage was obvious. space was showing up. but we were content to keep the ball and make them come at us.

Lets also not forget we last played Tuesday...just coming out of a tiring holiday season.

They never threatened us...other than that freekick I guess, which was handled comfortably.

We were never going to go all out. That was obvious.

Shame that Howard ruined what could have been a good game. He's a clearly biased ref and has only gotten his MBE due to his favourtism with Alex Ferguson over the years.

But like I said, the game could have been a cracker with both sides probably playing better had it meant something. We'd still have lost as Manutd had better players all over the park, was particularly impressed with Rio's game reading. At least our teamsheet was correct and the subs we brought on made an impact. Noticed no Paul Konchesky or Poulson, or Miereless 'on the right hand side'. ;)
