Never mind Kippax - but as Mancs this is the most important game - we shut the door on everything outside the gates of the greatest city on earth and let battle commence - feck the scousers - we Mancs are human beings (if you detect an ever so slight grudging respect for you lot then your right - me best mate is a city fan - but all my family are red - I would have drowned my kids if they'd been anything but United - but you wouldn't have it any other way either Kippax - would you).

you are right i would not.

tomorrow its war, then hopefully sunday we are mates again :)

i love the greatest city on earth bit :) :) :) :) :)

At the end of the season which closed Maine Road I had sex outside the ground :D :D :D Oh the joys of being young

Tomorrows game should be a blinder, can see at least one red and a probable booking for Rooney too. My heart says that we'll route them but my head says it'll probably end a draw.

Derby matches are special you cant predict them as its all about pride - form gets thrown out the window - its who wants it - And I dont care what other reds say they haven't got a clue what derby day is if they think its a forgone conclusion ewtc..etc.. just remember Liverpool at Everton earlier this season no problem the bindippers said didn't they!

 Strange bit is, the girl I was with was a city fan

But no KK... I doubt it ;) I still haven't got over the place being torn down really though, not many top grounds with real history left and whether we always admit it or not Maine Road has a place in a lot of red hearts as well. COMS won't ever be the same.

we have the capacity to suprise but we should not be good enough to beat you on form, but as you say in a derby form counts for nothing.

i just hope we play with pride and passion for 90 minutes tomorrow, that is all i ask on derby day.

true

your record attendence was there

i think although i may be wrong your record victory was there too.

you played many semi finals there.

i miss it, the atmosphere at COMs rarely matches maine road, but at least at COMs i can dare the loos:nervous:

Dare say not just these things (and yes I think your right with record victory). Personally it was always that bit more of an 'adventure' going down your end when it was up there. You got a feel for the city, its hustle and bustle (I love the curry mile :D ) on a match day. Where as now I don't feel that, just a bit... empty.

Ah well, I was brought up believing that the blue and red sides of Manchester were all one really. My folks weren't football people and until I hit early high school I used to follow both sides, in fact... though I say it quietly I once went to a City game... and cheered for the blues :nervous:

I was only ten at the time though of course :p

KK, without trying to take the piss or anything, but looking at that team, and even living in Salford, I had to look hard to see some of the names I could recognise as City players. Apart from Barton and Richards, the others are almost no names! I recall being able to name the City team as well as the United team.

Well I've not spoken to a Blue since last Saturday, as is the norm for my Derby preparations, and won't speak to one till after the game. First derby I'll have missed since Cantona's debut way back. Still I think we've got enough to win this game, and hopefully United won't be trying to hard to win. If anything over the past couple of years United have shown more "local" passion on the field and this has left us open to often for City to break us down. If the players play there normal games then City have no chance.

good post :D

i miss the hustle and bustle of rusholme, we used to go in the albert, the nelly and the clarence all time and often went for a curry after games, then into town to maybe the cypress tav or the hac.

around COMS is getting better, there are some good pubs and there is an indian opened outside the south stand

 I might just have to try that place out then. Might bring back some kind of nostalgia!

have to ask though KK, why is it that you now see a draw as a good result? There was once a time when your lot had more pride in yerselves than that :)

there was once a time we were better than you and expected to win derbies, at the moment you are better than us so we dont.

it is 1974 since we won there, although we should have a couple of years back when goaters header was dissallowed.

most blues would be happy with a draw, and if we won, well....i would be ecstatic:cool:

I'm glad someone else remembers this, I was begining to think I'd dreamt it up. KK likes to wind us up about our scouse hating, but there was a time when City felt the same way. I can remember Bank Holiday games at Old Trafford when United were playing Liverpool and City were playing Everton & if the half time boards showed City were winning, the Stretford cheered!

Anyway, you're the enemy tommorrow KK! Let battle commence. Can't wait.

Honestly don't know why this doesn't happen anymore, the enemy of our enemy and all that? All this bravado about which side of city is better should be put to one side on a day like that ;)

probably because in the last 15 years or so, liverpool v united games have been overhyped.

as a man city fan, i can go to liverpool and have no problems, in fact be welcomed, united cant do that

To all you non Blues, this is due to the common factor of hatred for United, though I do find it strange that anyone from Manchester and Liverpool can get on together. City are the enemy within, whilst the enemy of the city of Manchester is Liverpool.

I prefer the word "mature". Though it's not very accurate. Anyway, spill the beans about noodles, if he bans you we'll get a petition up. Probably.

This is what I was thinking to be honest, I don't go down to Liverfool very often and whenever I do I try and do it without the better half cause I always end up in some kind of trouble from it. Now I don't always mean fighting but there have been a fair few heated debates when I've had to go down... hell I don't even need to do that anymore. I book tickets for Everton at work so I have to put up with the second tier scum all day

Don't know about overhyped as such, it was just feckin dangerous and not just in the last 15 years!

but we have our derby day breakfast tommorrow and hopefully my brother is stringing me along and he has me one :)

he did it a few years back, the :o  :o

haha bastard. Well i hope he comes through for you

Hope we start with Wed. nights starting 11, but in our ususal 4-4-2 formation. City will defo raise their game for "their cup-final", as they have done in recent times. If we play in the formation we did at the begining of the Benfica game, I admit I will be a little edgy !
However, I feel sure SAF will send out the tried & trusted 4-4-2 ! So Im confident we'll do it....I go for 2-0 !
