Manchester United v Sunderland

We've been excellent and frustrating in equal measure imo.

The times when we've looked like destroying them have been when we've been a bit more direct in our approach. The times we've looked sloppy is when we've tried to be over intricate and over elaborate.

They've shown absolutely nothing and yet they're still fully in the game.

Fergie will be having words at half time - second goal for us is imperative.

Outstanding first twenty minutes from us though.

Such a brilliant performance for 30 mins. But typically wasteful performance from us since that Blackburn game. We just can't seem to be able to take our chances anymore.

Berbatov could have a hat-trick, Rooney could have a few, as could Anderson. Giggsy could have one too.

We really need to start the 2nd half the way we started the 1st, and let's hope we actually take our chances this time around.

It should be 7-0 tbh.Sunderland are dreadful and then we accuse La Liga teams of making it easier for the big 2 whereas Sunderland are just inviting United to ass rape them

Sunderland beat Chelsea 3-0 at The Bridge.

Their missing 7 players today.

Just got home, had to listen to the first half in the car, sounds like we're absolutely battering them but should have scored at least 4 and are wasting far too many good chances, is that a fair reflection of the first half or should I know better than to take radio commentary as at all accurate?

edit: last few posts suggest it's pretty accurate...

Absolutely brilliant first 20 minutes by the whole team, overall an excellent team performance. We must take our chances though, can't believe we're only one up. That's a dangerous scoreline even though Sunderland didn't even have one shot (off or on target)...

Spot on.

None of the misses were bad, but you get the feeling that we need to be a bit more clinical... It's a common Fergie gripe.

So what ? Missing 7 players and performing like that is ok ? I'm happy that United are dominating the match and boy I'm happy not to be a Sunderland fan.The way their players are playing is a disgrace
More goals please and Rooney wake the feck up

Just watching Rooneys chip again, feck me that lad has been inches away from some wonder goals of late, think the effort against Valencia, the chip against Arsenal and now today.

He just loves the chip. I don't think anyone today tries the chip as much as him

Aye, hopefully we'll take more chances in the 2nd half.

The radio commentator nearly jizzed in his pants at that effort, I think if it'd gone in he would have made a right mess. He tries to lob keepers quite a lot but very rarely pulls it off, always looks good though.

Good first half performance from us, Anderson looks to have continued his current form which makes me really happy! Rooney seems to look good in the build up but as soon as he gets into the box is not threatening. Really hope we get a early second otherwise this will turn from a brilliant performance to grinding out the win

He's been very good.

Could someone please send me a decent media link or Veetle stream please? Had an annoying time changing streams during that first half. Thanks in advance.

He has though, hasnt he? One good moment with the chip but the rest of his game looks off, finishing, passing, he's broke down countless attacks so far.

And if any other player gave the ball away so many times i'm sure the reaction on here would be a little different.

Some of the comments in this thread really make me question whether some people know anything at all.

Orton - only one good moment with the chip? What about the delicious ball for the goal?

It was jizz worthy material in fairness, id have dropped me y-fronts and bashed one out if it had gone in to!

Didn't he set the goal up? He sounded pretty involved on the radio commentary...

Yeah he tries it a lot, will never forget that one against Pompey at OT over James, thing of beauty.

Yes that and the one against Boro in the Cup in 05

He's been a bit poor in the box but other than that his buildup play has been fantastic.

1-0 thrashing at the moment.
A bit too season-of-good-will out there in front of goal.
But not all matches have to end at halftime.

To be honest, I think it's safe to say Rooneys been the worst of our attacking players so far.

The worst of a pretty good bunch.

Why the need to negatively rate at least one person.

Bar the lack of a second goal, there is nothing wrong with this performance.

Wake the feck up in terms of finishing chances. His overall play is good but more is expected from him.He has a tame and shy shot, he should hammer the keeper.
Show no mercy

True that. He rarely looks like scoring nowadays tbh. But he's playing so well that you can forgive him that for now.

Which of the chances would people say were instances of bad finishing? Perhaps Berba's into the side netting. The rest have been bad luck and long range chances...

"Cleverley has looked a cut above at Wigan over the past few months. Out of depth at Utd possibly though."

I'm not saying he's been bad, just the worst. Still a bit sore from the whole Rooney saga though to be honest.

And yes, very very good performance so far. Could do with another goal soon though.
