Manchester United v. Tottenham Hotspur MINUTE BY MINUTE

Free kick bounces right in front of Gomes and he can only flap at it, recovering it on the second attempt.

Lennon loses the ball and then screams feck which is audible on the tele

Ronaldo picks out Nani on the left hand side, his cross meets Ronaldo's run into the box but he heads just wide.

Great ball in from Nani, Ronaldo heads it wide

Free kick won by Nani, probably 28 or so yards out; Ronnie time

Ronaldo's free blocked by the wall, with strong suspicions of handball from Darren Bent on the edge of the box.

Hand ball Spurs not called by Webb though, United keep the ball

Nearly by Fletcher

Then over the bar from Rooney from outside the box

Berbatov cushions the ball down for Fletcher in the box, perhaps by accident, but his attempt at a shot is shut down immediately by Assou-Ekkoto.

Nani sends a low ball in from the right hand side, but once again Gomes is quick off his line and collects before Ronaldo can meet it.

Replays show that United did indeed have a case for Bent's handball, but it would have been harsh.

Goal for Tottenham!

Corluka sends a cross in, Vidic misses his header and while Ferdinand forces Bent to then miss his header, he scores on the second attempt from 6 yards out. No chance Van Der Sar. A poor goal to concede. Ferdinand could have done better.

Darren Bent scores on a mistake off a Lennon cross

Spurs' only threat has been off Lennon/Corluka crosses on the right thus far but they have created good chances

Goal for Tottenham!

Oh dear. Two goals in three minutes, from right hand side crosses. Lennon beats Patrice Evra and his cross is met by Modric, who chests it down and places past Van Der Sar. Awful defending. Huge problems on the left hand side.

Poor freekick given to Spurs on a non foul by Rafa on Keane

This isnt the first time Evra has struggled against Aaron Lennon, and with what is likely to be a similar threat on Wednesday in the shape of Theo Walcott, you cant help but worry.

Poor touch by Nani on off a light cross by Ronaldo

Good shot by Rafael from 25 yards, well saved by Gomes

Rafael with a left footed shot after cutting in from the right, but straight at Gomes who secures it comfortably.

United now have a free kick in another good position, with Woodgate booked for a foul on Ronaldo.

which taken by Gomes

Ronaldos freekick smashes off the wall, and his dipping volley from the rebound is saved magnificently by Gomes who tips it over for a corner.

Rooney rifles in a shot from the resulting corner, Gomes flaps at it low down and Woodgate clears.

Good response here from United.

Nanis shot after a clever one two with Darren Fletcher looks goal bound, but is blocked by Corluka in the box.

Great interplay by Nani and Fletcher, the formers shot is blocked by a defender, United have a throw in

Jenas carded, just before Rio picked up a knock on a rough tackle by Bent

Jermaine Jenas booked after a tough tackle on Darren Fletcher. Rio limping slightly after an awkward fall.

Intricate work by Berbatov and Ronaldo in the box but its all too close-knit to fashion a proper shooting chance.

Ronaldo put through by Berbatov but its called back for a handball by the Bulgarian.

This game has strong shades of the 4-2 win versus Everton last year, which incidently, is the last time Man Utd came from behind to win a game in the league.

Once again, Lennon and Corluka causing problems down the right hand side. Lennon gets to the by line but his cross is cleared.

Once again, another chance, Corluka and Lennon finding Palacios outside the box whos shot sails over Van Der Sar's crossbar.

Cheap corner conceded here at the end of the first half which will be the last action we see before what you would hope is a Sir Alex Ferguson hairdryer treatment.

Half Time.

Well, a thoroughly disappointing first half.

Lennon and Corluka have wreaked havoc down the right hand side. It looked as if Evra was getting help from Ronaldo early on, but the Portuguese has now been moved over to the right wing. Two very cheap goals to concede. From an attacking point of view, its all been a bit flat. Clever little bits of build up play but really no chances fashioned apart from Ronaldo's opportunistic volley. Was it really such a surprise to see Gomes put in a good performance?

Very similar to last years Everton game, although they waited until the second half to add their second. It looks as if the combination of two flair players (Ronaldo and Berbatov) and only one grafter (Rooney) is falling flat again.

Its an uphill struggle now, and I cant imagine theres many United fans out there who wouldnt bite your hand off if you offered them a draw now. If we get back to 2-1 or even 2-2, it could be set up for Carlos Tevez to secure his future at this club. Or that young Italian kid, whatshisname...

Expect Spurs to batton down the hatches now.

Disappointing first half, one that United had the upper hand in for the most part but are two goals behind. It must be said when Spurs got the ball in United's half they kept it extremely well, and most of the times played Lennon in from it. Wouldnt mind seeing Anderson come on to harry their CM and mark Modric, reckon United still can and will come back, but it is extremely important that they get an early, especially if they have aspirations of winning the match.
