Suppose it's good to have a game so soon after a defeat to get back to winning ways. West Ham are on the up but shouldn't go away with anything. Should be a good game for Vidic to come back into. Ferdinand is back from suspension too.

I like the Fletcher/Anderson combo, as it gives Scholes a rest for the final, but is there any chance of Anderson going straight into the starting lineup when he hasn't been in the match day squad for weeks?

Rooney and Evra need a rest IMO. feck knows who'll play on the left instead of Evra though, maybe Fabio or DeLaet...

3 points and nothing else will do.

I agree about Evra and Rooney, they were out of the game today.

Evra and Rooney surely need a rest. They have to be fresh for the CC final. I mean Owen and Berba can do the job and Fabio or De Laet can cover for Evra. Evans and Brown should not be playing - they have been worn out. Obertan should start and give Park a rest too and it will give us a chance to see what this lad can really do. Scholes is definitely going to start and it will be interesting to see who Fergie plays along side him in midfield.

Team for West Ham:

--------------Rooney----------------
Nani--------------------------Valencia
-------Scholes-----Fletcher-----------
-------------Carwreck----------------
Evra-----Vidic-------Rio-------Rafael
---------------VDS--------------------

Team for CC Final:

---------Berbs-----Owen-----------
Obertan--Gibbo---Anderson--Valencia
Fabio-----Evans---Brwned-----Rafael
--------------Kuszsack-------------

Manager: Fergie
Assistant: Phelan

It's called prioritising.

I think he will start; having had a game in the reserves Thursday, didn't play today, and will hopefully be fired up and ready to give us that injection of urgency and pace we lacked today.

I think Fabio's injured, if I wanted to rest Evra I'd consider maybe Evans, but like after today.

If West Ham attack twice as good as they at Upton Park against United doesn't matter who plays in defence, probably could play Giggs at leftback in cast and get away with it. I say seven man midfield time.

This is one of the few games where a Scholes-Anderson combination wouldn't be a bad thing.

But Obertan played 90 minutes on Thursday, Ando 60 minutes, yet Obertan makes the bench and comes on.

From past memory, Scholes and Anderson have rarely done well together.

Well we dont really have a choice now do we? Gibson maybe? But Fletch and Carrick need definitely need a rest. They have had a long month full of tough games - twice against Man City, one against Arsenal, Aston Villa, AC Milan and now Everton plus a couple of games against bottom sides like Hull and Portsmouth.

From past memory Scholes and Anderson demolished West Ham at Upton Park with Gibbo for good measure. Fletcher and Carrick having fairly quiet games in defense. Keep the ball, expose their defence and their frustrations will be exposed as well.

Valencia - Scholes - Anderson - Park

Berbatov - Owen

Foster; Evans; Neville; Fletcher; Gibson; Obertan; Diouf

Evra, Fletcher, Rooney, and Carrick definitely need and deserve a rest... I think the above line-up should be enough to see off West Ham. 2 - 0 United, Owen and Valencia to score.

No Vidic at all in the squad? Even though he was on the bench today.

Sorry, but we need to win this match. Evra must play, as should Fletch & Rooney. I wouldn't start Carrick, and maybe not even have him on the bench.

Evra, Carrick and Fletch DONT have to play. Like I said earlier, this has a tough month for the lads and they should be rested. They have another tough month coming up in March with Liverpool and Milan coming here and us traveling to Bolton.

West Ham will be bloody easy, Man Utd don't need to rest anyone but fresher legs might help tear Man Utd this West Ham side appart.

With our current position not looking too good with regards to the title race, I'd rather play the best players from the start and make changes when we're a couple of goals up, rather than risk changes from the beginning.

Fair point. But then again Obertan hasn't allegedly had a rift with Fergie for missing training :p. Also, the fact he gave him time in the Reserves does indicate a return for Anderson fairly soon.

The best players in general might not be the best players for this game i.e. Fletcher and Carrick are best for most games, but even fresh they couldn't destroy a side like West Ham the way that a fresh Anderson and Scholes could. In other games you might need more physical players. It's alright for the likes of Birmingham, Villa and Liverpool to boast about how they don't need to make changes, but look where they are in the league.

Need Vidic and Rafael at RB

We absolutely need the likes of Vidic against certain relegation contenders? Manchester United beat them comprehensively on their own ground with only two recognised defenders for most of the game. No matter how badly Neville, Brown and Evans are doing they can handle this extremely overrated West Ham side even at less than peak fitness. Are West Ham with Carlton Cole in their side better than Wolfsburg ... I think not.

That said Rio, Vidic and Rafael would be ideal, but Man Utd should be able to keep a cleansheet without them.

I don't think SAF would drop Wayne for this game. Owen-Berba makes a lot of sense, but Rooney shouldn't be dropped after one bad game.
Fletcher-Carrick need rest though. We could do just fine with any other 2 midfielders. I wish Evra would get some rest
Definite starters for me are VDS, Berbatov, Valencia, Scholes, Vidic, Wes, Rafael

As much as I want for Fergie to start Rooney for my FPL (as he is my captain) I don't think he will, he would want to rest him for the final next weekend.

Honestly, I think Wayne will have enough time to rest, but whether he starts or not, the midfield needs rest. For me, more important is Fletcher and Carrick to recover and quickly. Now, I don't like Anderson-Scholes duo for many reasons, but this may be one of those game, where we could play them.

I think we need Scholes for the Villa game. He was brilliant in Milan, and he definitely won't recover enough to play on the weekend if he starts on Tuesday, Fletch on the other hand can start both. So I would go for Ando-Fletch.
