They'll do us 0-2. Always happens when they're perceived as struggling

Park always like's a goal against the Arse doesn't he?

Can't see much wrong with that side, apart from feeling bad for Welbeck. Wouldn't surprise me to see Berbatov not in the squad and Welbeck in.

we have been successful playing 4-5-1 against arsenal over the last few years. the last time we played them, we line up 4-4-2, got dominated in midfield and lost the game. no matter how poor arsenal's form at this moment, i still think we need to start with 3 central midfielders.

barring any fresh injuries we will have players like welbeck, hernandez, giggs, carrick on the bench. even fletcher and valencia could be in contention for a return to the team. and by the look of things berba might not even make the bench!

Blimey, I actually forgot about him for some unexplainable reason. And yes that is probably most likely, poor Berba though!

I have a feeling we might come against a wounded animal (is that the correct metaphor?) and a team with a point to prove this weekend.

Wouldn't take anything for granted.

It'll be a good game.

Question for me is whether we should base our line-up on the performance on the last 30 minutes or the first 60 minutes of the Spurs game? I'd say the latter, because I'm the cautious type; therefore:

Evra

Cleverley

Nani
Rooney
Young

Bench: Lindegaard, Welbeck, Hernández, Giggs, Park, Evans, Berbatov

------------------De Gea---------------
Smalling---Ferdinand----Jones-------Evra
Nani------Cleverley----Anderson----Young
------------Rooney---Welbeck-----------

Subs: Lindegaard, Evans, Carrick, Park, Giggs, Berbatov, Chicharito.

Hard to fit 7 subs in now, has Owen even made the bench at all since the start of the season? Shame for him, but he knows the score I'm sure. I would field this team.

I've been excited watching these lads since the season started, and I feel they should keep being played together as much as possible. We have experience on the bench if needed.

Continue to field the same team, aye, but it would be incredibly harsh to drop Evans after last night's performance.

4-1 United. Rooneyx2, Cleverly, Hernandez

It will be 1-0 though in all seriousness, a dirty game too I bet.

I don't understand people thinking Sir Alex will revert to a 4-5-1 formation against Arsenal. If he didn't do that in the run in last season at the Emirates, he didn't do it against Chelsea at the same point in the season, he didn't do it against Barcelona at Wembley and has thus far refused to budge from 4-4-1-1 this season as well why would he change now? For the first time in a few years the Boss has taken the stabilisers off why would he choose now to put them back on?

Erm because we lost to Arsenal and lost to Barcelona maybe?

It's all very well having the attitude that let them worry about us but against Arsenal we had god knows how many wins against them matching them up we then naively stick with 4-4-2 last season and lose without ever looking like scoring (IIRC).

Granted it seems that since last night they've now lost Wilshire for the game and Nasri to City so their midfield should be there for the taking even if we do go 4-4-2 but it's certainly not out of the question that we should go back to tried and tested against them

Because we've consistently outplayed Arsenal by using that very formation. When we changed to 4-4-2 against them last year we got beaten. We've had a blue-print for success against them for years and it's worked.

You can definitely see the logic in a 4-5-1 but it all depends on how vulnerable Fergie thinks Arsenal is. I don't have a bloody clue what we'll do.

I am being hugely optimistic but when I watched em at home vs pool there was times when the game was so open liverpool never really took advantage of their frailty.

I was very confident going into the game against liverpool toward the end of last season and we were very poor
This is at home and it'll be a huge factor, but we really cant afford to get complacent.

What one earth is their midfield going to be with no Nasri, Fabregas, Wilshere, Song, Diaby or Frimpong? They can't play three in the middle can they?

I'd imagine they'll hope Rosicky is fit and they'll go him, Ramsey & Lansbury. Arshavin could also come into the midfield 3 and they chuck AOC into one of the wide areas

Might see Wenger recalling Coquelin early from his loan spell. I'd trust him to do a job for us in the middle.

Crocked Wilshere set to miss England qualifiers

Jack Wilshere looks certain to miss England's Euro 2012 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Wales next month.

The Arsenal midfielder is expected be out for another two to three weeks, Gunners manager Arsene Wenger tonight.

Wilshere yesterday suffered a setback in his recovery from the ankle injury that was initially expected to rule him out for a week, but now appears likely to sideline him for a minimum of six weeks.

The 19-year-old's absence would be a big blow to England manager Fabio Capello, who is already set to be without Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard for the matches away to Bulgaria on September 2 and at home to Wales four days later.

It is also more bad news for increasingly beleaguered Wenger, who said tonight: "I don't know if we are back to square one or for how long he will be out.

"He's in a boot again, so that means he will at least be out for two or three weeks."

Really hope we revert to the tried and tested 4-5-1 vs Arsenal and not try to go 4-4-2 like we did at The Emirates.

Remember last season when we had injuries up the ying yang and we played the twins on the wings?
I honestly think we'll win comfortably, but I'd never write Arsenal off.

Well, at the Emirated it worked fine - the 4-5-1 - but at home, we used two strikers when we played them in the FA Cup, which we won 2-0. However, the home game, where Park notched the winner, we line up like this:
Van der Sar - Rafael, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra - Nani, Anderson, Carrick, Fletcher - Park, Rooney, Nani

I actually want to see in-form players and that's the team we put out last night - apart from Jones, who will make way for Vidic - or even Welbeck for Chicharito. I think Fergie will have Arsenal's injury list in mind too.
