FA Cup Fifth Round
Old Trafford
Saturday 16th February 2008

I won't predict this one, but I hope to God we beat these over-celebrating queens.

-------------VDS-------------

Brown-----Vidic---Rio------Evra

Ronaldo--Carrick--Scholes---Giggs

---------Rooney--Tevez--------

We'll do them 2-1.

1-1

We'll beat them in the return leg 0-1

Highly unlikely. If we don't win we're out, given all the fixtures piling up and having important CL games to think about.

we´re overdue a good performance after the shower of shite we´ve had to watch in our last 2 games.

3 - 0, Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez.

Team Should be....

GK: VDS

RB: Brown
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Vidic
LB: Evra

RM: Ronaldo
CM: Carrick
CM: Anderson
LM: Giggs

CF: Tevez
CF: Rooney

That's right drop Scholes! Other than against Pompy (where admittedly he was breathtaking) he's been shit since he's been back, granted he's proberly still finding match fitness but we need to win this one so we should go back to the team that was getting the results for us, besides him and Hargreaves would proberly be the better paring for the game against Lyon. I would say drop Giggs as well but both Nani and Park are looking shite at the moment as well so at least he's got the track record to maybe turn something out for us.

Having said all that I'm fairly confident of a victory, 1-0 Rooney with the goal.

I could see United getting more than two depending on who the Arse play

Our midfield MUST be Scholes and Carrick.

That is all.

Well, not really.

I say start with Anderson and Hargreaves

No, just no.

All this tinkering has proven that it doesn't work. We play a proven combination, and that is Carrick and Scholes.

Anderson and Hargreaves are a proven combination though.

Errm, in a couple of matches, Scholes and Carrick won us a Premiership.

Face it, we need to go back to basics and stop messing with the midfield, because that's what has cost us most this season.

Like it was between October - January when we lost every game without Scholes?

Muppet

No, like it was between August 2007 and May 2007, when we won the title by 6 points and when, at this time last season, rather then being 2 points behind, we were 6 points clear.

Muppet

we will scrape through just barely

1:0

ronaldo (pen)

Heres a list of how our midfield has looked this season (comparing the 4 midfield players, took Fletcher out for pity as it didn't make for good reading).

United v City : lost
Villa v United : won

Scholes/Hargreaves Points: 4 Played: 2
United v Sunderland : won
Spurs v United : drew

Carrick/Hargreaves Points: 3 Played: 2
Reading v United : won
Bolton v United : lost

Carrick/Anderson Points: 12 Played: 4
United v Newcastle : won
United v Birmingham : won
United v Everton : won
United v Derby : won

Hargreaves/Anderson Points: 13 Played: 5
United v Middlebrough : won
United v Fulham : won
United v Blackburn : won
Arsenal v United : drew
Liverpool v United : won

Carrick/Scholes Points: 14 Played: 6

Might give you a few clues who will be playing against Arsenal.

Carrick/Anderson or Carrick/Scholes.

Carrick should play more, he's quality.

2 - 0

Ronldo plays as a winger, puts in crosses.

Rooney to score twice.

Hopefully we'll play Carrick and Scholes. I think Anderson should be used only as an impact player.

Team for the match:

VDS

Brown - Rio - Vida - Evra

Ronaldo - Scholes - Carrick - Giggs

Rooney - Tevez

1-0

Tevez with the goal !

And the decline of the Gooners begins ..

Im not saying Scholes/Carrick isnt good. But given Scholes has just come back, id rather see him eased into games especially given how good Anderson has been for us (pretty much making us not miss Scholes) and Hargreaves is a brilliant partner for him.

Personally, id rather see us go Scholes/Carrick home games as teams will play 5 in midfield against us. Their variety of passing will open things up (provided we use the wingers, which we failed to do against Citeh) and Carrick can cut things out.

In away games, Anderson/Hargreaves to give us the pace for counter attacks (provided we have Rooney and Tevez / Saha up front as well)

Just IMO and preference.

good to see carricks finally getting the backing he deserves on this forum

At the end of the day, Carrick helped win us a Premier League crown and is proven with Scholes, Hargreaves and Anderson haven't and aren't.

VDS
Wes - Rio - Vida - Evra
Ronnie - Scholes - Carrick - Giggs
Rooney - Tevez

WE're due a win over Arsenal, they ddi the double over us last season, drew that 'title winning' match at their own ground so I think we'll win this 2 - 1

It's very hard to predict the Arsenal lineup, because of injuries and Wengerisms (I don't think, though I could be wrong, of course, that this match is a priority for him). But I'll give it a shot:

Lehmann (definitely -- FA Cup is for the 2nd keeper)
Sagna Toure Gallas Clichy (Toure could use the rest, but right now Senderos is injured. He won't play against Fooking Blackburn, so I bet he'll lose his place.)
Eboue Cesc Flamini Hleb (Rosicky'll be crocked)
RVP Ade

On the one hand, you'd expect Wenger to play a 451 in this match, because that's his style. If he did that, I'd replace RVP with Diaby, assuming fitness. But on the other hand, I figure that this will be the game AW uses to give RVP a run out to recover some match fitness before featuring in the league. And RVP won't do in a 451.

meh, probably all bollocks. Very excited for what should be a fun game.
