Manchester United vs Arsenal

What happens if a defender twats someone in the box whilst waiting for a corner to be taken, would that be a pen? I don't know the rules well enough, but Almunia was daft to dive in & once he made contact a pen was on the cards with that ref. I don't think it was a dive though, it looked like Roon was trying to stop to me.

Red card to the defender and the corner is still taken since hte ball was out of play.

Once happened in a sunday league game of mine, Striker touched past the keeper, keeper twatted the player and the referee gave the keeper a yellow (shoulda been red for the late hit) and a goal kick because he ruled hte ball had travelled out of bounds before hte keeper hit him. Didn't deam it enough for the red card but talking that night to a NSW Premier league ref it was definately worthy a red.

This thread made for very amusing breakfast reading. It was about as stonewall as a penalty comes for Rooney. Anyway, 2-1 - 3points United, off we toddle, see you at the Emirates Gooners.

Can't believe how some thick twats are trying to make out it wasn't a penalty.

Perhaps it is to take the emphasis from Eboue and Eduardo.

Why would I? I'm pleased you won.

Forwards, and especially Rooney, get clattered all game long so contact with the goalie is nothing new for him....IMO the crucial thing which probably convinced the ref to give a pen was that Rooney touched the ball...after he had pushed the ball past the goalie Rooney will have known he no chance whatsoever of getting to the ball again and seeing Almunia coming at him he chose to go down.....it was a little early for my liking.

We're pretty close to agreeing there... Seen them given 8/10 so I guess I'll always see it as a pen.

can someone post a video of the disallowed goal? including the big mistake by rooney that has a result arsenal to score this goal
