Manchester United vs. Arsenal

the missing of penalties this season is becoming a nightmare, anyway a good first half though we should have scored more.

If we'd stop passing behind the player in the final third we'd be a few up by now.

Generally comfortable but frustrating at the same time.

Shit pen, but wasn't a pen for me anyway.

"His right foot is as good as his left to some extent".

Er, shut up, Jamie.

It's a comfortable performance don't get me wrong but i don't feel Fergie would be happy with that half so as fans don't see why we should be either.

I think Fergie will be pretty pleased to be honest, minus the penalty miss.

Good play, comfortable in possession and had some good chances.

More of the same next half but more clinical in the final third, would be the message from Fergie. IMO.

Rooney needs a kick up his arse, his concentration has been rubbish - some of his passes have been embarrassing.

Young is just a mediocre player.

The pass he played to put RVP through was the best pass of the half.

That's such bollocks. No-one seems to appreciate a game that isn't a strategy-free defenceless goal-fest these days. It's been cagey, but our football's been very good indeed.

The only one talking bollocks is you with horrid assumptions based on nothing. Our football has been good...yes...the game has still been dire because Arsenal have no threat.

THe confidence this'll give Arsenal now worries me. Wasted chances and then the penalty, need another goal fast.

We played well. Rooney should have put us 2-0 up. Awful penalty. I'd take Young off. I'm not sure what he's offering at the moment apart from trying to win the "frailest man in football" award for 2012.

Cleverley so far outplaying Wilshere is nice to see. I've always thought of him as Wilshere-lite but maybe that's not true any more. (Of course Wilshere's fresh back from injury, we're playing better in general etc etc.)

A game of this magnitude and Rooney has gone and missed a fecking penalty. It wasn't just a miss, it was beyond a terrible miss. At the very least he should be getting it on target and working the keeper.

My goodness what a half. If we just stepped it even half a gear.

Yesterday was even thinks who would take the peno? Guess I know who will take the next one. Would have seen a completely different Rooney had he made it. Now wondering if it is going to be one teetering on a sending off

Nani or Anderson will probably replace Young. I can see Rooney playing the whole game even if he's shocking just for the defensive work (and ability to go and play left side). Hernandez will get on at some point, probably for van Persie. Probably Scholes on for Cleverley too, mainly due to the booking.

At the moment, I think we've been pretty average to be honest. Arsenal being so poor has made us look better than we have been, but if we were a bit more clinical we'd be two or three ahead. Arsenal will be better in the second half, but that might make them even more open, so if certain players can keep hold of the ball better / find the right pass more often I'm still confident we'll get all three points.

He missed one a couple of seasons back against Arsenal too. 1-0 up in that one as well and he skied it.

This. Bring Ando on for Young. But don't push Rooney wide, the job he's doing shutting down Arteta is probably the biggest reason their midfield hasn't got going. Hard to overestimate how important it is that he keeps concentrating on that. It's the difference between this game and what happened vs Italy when he failed to do the same with Pirlo.

I miss Scholes, we haven't seen him in three games. Unacceptable.

Rooney hasn't been shocking from what I have seen. He and RVP look quite dangerous however the service in to them both has been hit and miss.

... he made Arsenal come across like they're Stoke.

It gives Arsenal a second breath, rather than taking what little breath they had left. If Rooney put that penalty away, then I would expect an easy second half and Arsenal to roll over like they did last year.

I won't get over that pen until we score the second, feck sake! Please give RVP the responsibilities from now on, no more changes.

Our first half was meh. Not sure how anyone can see it as good. I'd be surprised if Fergie was happy with that half.

Rooney should have let RVP take that penalty kick. Van Persie would know Mannone's weakness more than anyone else. The kick was horrendous - Apart from that, our wingers have been really poor with the delivery....They should be doing better with the crosses....

The general game play has been good but we need to be more tactful in the final third. I am worried about the yellow cards to Cleverley and Young....Theo Walcott's pace would worry us when he comes on - we need to drop Arsenal's morale with another early goal in the 2nd half! All i just want is 3 points and an Anderson cameo!

Piers Morgan "Just seen tape of Santos getting #VanPursestrings ' shirt - utterly disgraceful. I want him sold tomorrow. "

Yeah I think Scholes could have made a bid difference today. Certainly to our composure

Scholes would do well here I believe, there's lots of space behind Arsenal's back four.

Doubt it.. but o well lets hope for a good second half and 3 points.
