Manchester United vs Aston Villa

Only good thing about that half was going in HT at 1-1... Defending is just shocking. I will eat my humble pie and agree with Lot 49 that Neville should have started as RB but deary me every time they attack i see a goal, every time we attack it looks to end in a villa goal!

Agree. Were making Villa look like Barca. Cant we bring someone on for Neville and replace NAni with Park and play him on the right to cover for Young and ronaldo on the right. Also, Tevez needs someone to play off of.

This has been unbearable to watch. I can see us losing to ANYONE playing like this. They could have been up by a few goals. Fergie work your magic at half time.
 
We have been average.Talk is cheap and for all the talking the players have been doing leading up to the game nothing seems to have changed.
 
Both fullbacks are terribly exposed.

This is why you can't play Ronaldo and Nani at the same time.
 
Fletcher has looked up for it but he's been the only one. Giggs has been a bit dissappointing with his final pass from some very good positions.

It looks like the players are just a bit nervous. We've played some really good stuff, some good link up play in the middle of the pitch, but everyone's scared to death of making a mistake because we've lost that feeling of invincibility (and looking at the back four, with good reason). They just need to relax a bit and keep pressing. Keep the faith.
 
listen mates its not lack of effort that causing the issues. We are giving the ball away cheaply and putting ourself under pressure. Sort of like the inter game at home. THe players now have a half working together and they should get it sorted.

The only thing that matters is the result not the performance at this point

Bring Welbeck on, we could do with some pace up front to stretch the Villa back four. They're strolling at the moment because there's no risk we'll get in behind.
 
Well we cant be too hard on the outfield players, i mean our defense has been so poor we have needed our midfield players to get back to help out this means we havent got enough numbers forward.
 
I honestly don't know what to change the team has been so bad, Id look at bringing in Park. Only VDS had a good half IMO..

very average. but we can do it. I expect 20 mins in the second half when we are on top. lets hope we get the breaks then. otherwise I can see villa getting stronger later in the game

The last few games (and today) we have looked half the team of old.

We also do not even look like scoring of late.
 
Well its half time, i don't really know what to say after that. We need to get back to basics and do what we were doing so well before. Massive 2nd half this, play porto, Sunderland and Everton in Semi final all in 2 weeks. So in 2 weeks we could be 4 points clear in the final of the FA cup and semi final of CL or it could all fall apart.

Just need to get back to winning ways again and it has to happen in 45 mins! Come on United!

Unfortunately you can't have a great response when the good devices are missing.
 
we are basically playing with a reserve side or a b team if you like against a team fighting for a champions league place.

this was never going to be easy but right now i am furious with rooney and scholes for not being available
 
Can't remember us being this bad at old trafford for a while, it doesn't help that we are missing key players but there is only Fletcher and Ronaldo looking like doing anything very poor from the rest. At the back its just shocking very disappointed so far.
 
we definitley need more goal threat. there is no one stretching the villa defense. we need someone for the last defender to worry about. right now everything is being played in front of them and they are not being turned. villa are not great at the back. tevez is not the answer it seems. maybe we have to throw the young lads in

And Vidic. He would have made a massive difference.
 
Blaming Tevez and Nani is slightly harsh, the team as a whole hasn't been playing well. Neville is past it unfortunately, lost Carew completely, will struggle against Young at right back. Need more penetration from all the attackers, as long as they can continue playing as before we conceded I think we'll win.

Forget that. Our attacking players have been hit and miss all season. We've done well because we keep the ball well and are difficult to break down. We've lost THAT. We can barely keep the ball enough to harm the opposition, have no patience in possession and are defending like a championship side.

Just be solid this second half, thats all we have to do. We can always the nick a goal at the other end. I cant believe how we've defended. Bring Park on, get some protection on the right.

And i cant believe Neville as centre back when they have Carew. Shocking decision.
 
I'd be tempted to put Eckersley and Gibson on for Carrick and Neville.

The pair of them are so much of a fecking liability it's laughable.

At least Neville has the excuse of being old, unfit, and not a centreback, Carrick's just been pathetic

Why?

Why is it ok to single out our worst defender (Neville) but harsh to point out that Nani and Tevez are playing poorly?
