Manchester United Vs. Aston Villa

Good game so far, thought owen, park, berba and evra played great first half, am gutted owen has had to go off cos he was looking better than he has in a long time and could have been very useful these next few weeks, hopefully its nothing too bad.

The foul on Owen could have been a last man foul as well. Owen had the break on everyone if he hadn't been taken down.

It is definitely strange that Vidic didn't get sent off but, then neither did the Villa player.

Here is hoping that Rooney turns this game in our favor. Feel bad for Owen.

HT Thoughts:

However much Shearer is frothing, Vidic had to be sent off, but Dowd totally bottled it. Since then he's failed to book at least another 3 that were nailed on yellows and was rapidly losing control of the game at the end of the half.

The pitch is dreadful, absolutely dreadful for the showpiece "home" of English football.

Park & Berbatov have been great.

Vidic, Evans and Carrick have been dreadful.

As i am watching a stream i wont argue that vidic should have walked. It looked to me that he was holding gabbys shirt outside the box the play continued and he still had a slight grip then gabby fell over just before vidic slid in with his tackle. i guess if he was sent off we would have no complaints but seriously outside of the pen and our suspect defending at the back villa have been what villa is.

We should win this game although you get the feeling something weird is going to happen.

Seriously, I think my blind hatred for Ji Sung Park is clouding my judgement. Other than miss two brilliant chances, what has he done of note?

To be fair, I don't rate him that high, but think he has been very good today. Certainly the best I've seen him in United shirt since long ago.

certainly could have been. I just hope owen is ok

I just hope Vidic wont get a red card. If this goes to extra time and we have only 10 men, then it is going to be real hard to win. His defending has not been the best for us this year.

Park has been every where today, looking to link up with the strikers and put it about as always. Has been wonderful in his last few appearances, after a slow start to the season.

No more Carrick taking set pieces today, he has been awful.

He wasn't last man though, there was another Villa defender level in the middle. It was a definite yellow but never a red (who thinks that was a genuine goal scoring opportunity?).

owen wasnt bearing down on goal
no point comparing the two incidents

bbc keep mentioning wazza having the flu, i hope all the bbc staff catch it too

Park has been wonderful today. Looks wonderful when he is galloping through the middle on the way to the goal.

I agree, and with that kind of form, he could be an important player for our remaining CL games

If Owen had controlled he walks in on goal. The other defender was a good ten yards away on a level plane and would not have made up the distance in time to stop Owen. It would have been a one-on-one. But I guess IAW the law there was another defender "back there."
