But the Villa bookings were for cynical fouls - not dirty or anything but no attempt to win the ball. Most of our fouls have not been like that so I would not expect them to lead to yellow cards in a normal match. I'll need to see the Vidic one again at half time to see if he really was last man (though at the time it felt like we'd got off the hook).

Carrick's basically strolling around the pitch winning the ball from deep interceptions and whacking the ball inaccurately in advanced areas, Gibson would be running the pitch winning next to nothing from midfield but at least causing the goalie a problem when in advanced areas.
