Uefa Champions League
Old Trafford
KO: 1945 BST

Looking forward to this

How I miss the CL. It didn't help in the manner we exited the competition last season.

de Gea

Rafael
Evans
Vidic
Evra

Carrick
Fellaini

Nani
Kagawa/Welbeck
Rooney

van Persie

SUBS: Lindegaard, Fabio, Smalling, Cleverley, Januzaj, Valencia, Hernandez.

And get Vidic, Carrick and van Persie off asap once the result is hopefully secure.

----------- DDG ----------
Fabio - Evans - Vidic - Evra
----- Carrick - Fellaini -----
- Nani - Kagawa - Januzaj -
----------- RVP ----------

Make it happen, Moyes!

Wonder if Moyes might be tempted to rest Evra and Vidic with City at the weekend. Wouldn't think Rio will play.

Lets try out theoretically our best side!

Rafael Evans Vidic Evra
Fellaini Carrick
Nani Kagawa Rooney
Van Persie

I'd like him to give Zaha a run out too, as I think adrenalin will help him turn in a great performance. Hernandez needs to get some playing time soon too.

Hard to call this one, personally think we could do with giving as strong a team as we could a run out as we still haven't quite clicked into gear but then at the same time you want to be weary of injuries. Would really like to see Nani and Kagawa get a run, would be good to give Evans a game as well.

Fabio Ferdinand Vidic evra

Welbeck Rooney kagawa

If everyone's fit, this should be our lineup. Pretty much our strongest 11 minus Rafael, but Fabio is there so it's not a big loss. Pretty much all of our games in the champions league will be big tough games, so we can't afford to drop points in our home games.

Edit: Nani is suspended, feck.

*/Rafael if he's back from injury. Let's face it, when Fabio plays as well as he did today they're virtually interchangeable.

With Welbeck coming on for Rooney nice and early in the second half whatever happens (don't want to burn Wayne out as he comes back from his lay-off), and Hernandez getting a good chunk of the second half too.

Would like to see Hernandez, Nani, Kagawa and Zaha start.

If possible Kagawa should start vs. Leverkusen not alone because of his abilities, but also because he knows most of the Leverkusen players better than anyone at United.

How do you rate this Leverkusen team?

EDIT: Btw they are managed by one Sami Hyypia. Will be odd seeing him on the touchline.

I think most of us agree that Shinji and Nani have to start, if fit.

A newbie (iBoss, hopefully related to the legendary "Boss") just PMed me reminding us of Nani's red card against Madrid.

Doesn't this mean he's suspended for this match?

Put the strongest team out there, no fecking about. We'll worry about the City game afterwards.

Would be an amazing experience for Moyes. He'll be up for it for sure, hope the team will be as well.

Completely forgot about that shaggin' red card. :(

Yeah, I assume Nani's suspended. Three games or one though, I don't know.

Surely it has to be Kagawa time by now? Though I fear that Giggs and Welbeck were 'rested' to play in the Champions League. I also thought Nani would have played against Palace due to his suspension here... Hopefully the fact we're against a German team means Kagawa will play

Ferdinand and Vidic both playing 90 minutes against Palace surprised me, but they didn't really have much to do so I guess they could both play here and against City, but one of them will be rested (most likely Rio). Probably a game too soon for Rafael by the looks of it, he might have to miss the City game as well due to this sadly, but I have no problems with Fabio playing.

Hopefully bring on Fellaini for Carrick, Giggs/Welbeck for Rooney, and Hernandez for RvP if we can go 2-0 up. Expect a tough game, but a winning start for Moyes in the UCL.

Yes please. Must win, we can't afford to drop points at home against them otherwise we'll be in trouble.

Can't afford to take any chances. None of our games in the group are going to be easy, so have to go with the best available line-up.

Watch out for Leverkusen's Sidney Sam & Son - both on fire this season so far, quick, tricky players. Stefan Kießling's always a threat too.

2-1 United.

We absolutely have to get 6 points from our first two home games in the UCL.
Our last game is also a home game, so even though that's a good thing when going through gets a little complicated, I still don't want us to go in that game needing 3 points.
So lets play a strong team. Atleast have, Rooney/Rvp, Welbeck, Nani, Carrick, Vida, Evra and DDG in the starting XI.

There's zero chance that Moyes will start Zaha in his first ever Champions League game. He'll play it safe. I wish safe did not involve Giggs or Young though. Or Valencia, even. I'd be happy to see Welbeck, Rooney and Kagawa behind Van Persie.
