The Fellaini praise all over the net is going a bit far, he's been good, but people are going on like he's having an exceptional game, he's gave away a fair few balls with majorly shit passes. His hounding them and forcing them to rush has been good.

A fair few? I'd say barring contested headers he's gave the ball away about 3 times and each of them apart from the last difficult attempt have been slide rule passes which are tricky anyway.

I love the security Fellaini brings, if he could stop giving the ball away he'll be a fantastic signing. I thought the Chelsea and Palace games led to Rooney getting ridiculous praise, he was good in them, but no more, but tonight he's been exceptional. I'm not sure where this pace has come from but I like it.

Fellaini had some problems with passing, but he was good overall, encouraging performance and as I said we haven't looked this strong in midfield for a long time.

Excellent half I thought. Fellaini has fitted in brilliantly, Rooney is a livewire and I've been pleasantly surprised by Smalling aswell

Completely agree on Smalling. I've always rated him highly but he hasn't had many minutes of late. Strong performance so far from him.

Fellaini has been great at breaking up the play but he's given the ball away a few times. Rooney, RVP and Kagawa have given us a spark up top that we've not had so far this season, they are working really well together.

OK, seems like I need a new pair of glasses. Just saw a replay of the goal for the first time. Valencia is not only standing offside, he stands just next to Leno, pushes his body into the keeper and lift his leg when the latter wants to jump. How do you not see that when you are standing ten m. away? Very lucky goal for United.

I actually thought Rooney was quite poor in the Palace game (aside from an excellent FK obviously) but he's been much more lively tonight.

I can't wait til we adopt a 4-3-3, Kagawa feeding Rooney, RVP and Nani. Carrick and Fellaini supporting.

Kagawa on the left is such a waste

Fellaini looks great next to Carrick, this will develop into a cracking midfield

How nice of you to only quote the bad things I said.
Happens all the time.

Besides I don't see what's wrong with that selection. People have differing opinions. That's the world you morons (not you), not the match day thread.

Fellaini has been okay, but I really dislike how we're using him. About the least effective way we could

And we're still so realiant on the wings its a bit worrying, especially if they play like last season. Good ball by Evra to set up Rooney's goal and Kagawa is playing nice football

Amazing the refs gave that goal. LOL. Oh well. 3 pts is all that counts. If we win this I won't be crying about it. Nobody dwells on decisions that go against us so I won't moan when we get the breaks.

Hes a 27 mil signing, you are going to be praising every completed pass.

Hes a competent decent player. But nothing has changed to make me think he will take United any higher than they were without him.

He gives us so much more steel and presence in midfield, I don't know how you can't see it all ready. His passing is also pretty tidy. Regardless of how much he cost (who really gives a shit anyway?) he's clearly a step up from Cleveley or Anderson.

Fellaini more touches and passes than anybody (including Carrick) at half-time.

Shaky first half hour by Kagawa, but raised his level. Looking forward for the second half.

We are outplaying the germans. I cant see us concede. Looking quite solid so far. Smalling has beeen brilliant by the way.

2 more goals please

Hard to have any complaints about that first half performance in fairness, solid at the back, in control of things in the midfield department, creating chances. Kagawa looks alright for a lad that hasn't played for us in a while which is good to see but Valencia looking a bit like the Valencia of old, making a few threatening runs down the wing, whipping in a few crosses is probably the most notable or positive thing to take from that first half, that and Fellaini looking like he's settling in quite well and he only in the door I suppose.

What the feck is wrong with ITV? They are acting like we have been shit.

Despite them have a little possession which is to be expected they've offered nothing. United have created about 4-5 good chances now while looking very tidy.

Smalling totally dominating, Fellaini adding solidity and Rooney playing superb stuff have been my highlights.

Keano reckons Leverkusen "controlled the game in a sense". What has he been smoking?
