Manchester United vs. Birmingham City F.C.

Foster looks very indecisive on crosses

I don't think he is ready and something tells me he wont be the United number 1 either, other keepers have failed were only certain make the grade like schmeical and van der say.

i needed that .. football is back

played well .. evra is god .. what a clearance
good goal .. dominated
fabio doesnt look ready defensively .. good going forward .. that run into the box was great

H/T. Good so far.

Valencia has been a bit quiet. He's not really taking his man on. And he's drifting infield a bit too much, needs to stay out wide. Every time fabio receives the ball, he has no option on the right because valencia's not there.

otherwise, good stuff so far.

Brilliant move by Nani and Evra for Fletch's chance.

We need to use Valencia better than we have so far. I think he's had the ball around four times this half.

Nani is going to have a bucket-load of assists this season.

Not sure if it's been mentioned before, but is Valencia the most one footed ever? Don't think he has used his left foot at all

Missed Carrick though I think even though he has been poor this season, always gives us an outlet in the middle of the park.

Berba's been a bright spot, good start to the campaign for him

if only we take our chances, we can torn them apart.

Think we should use Fabio more on the right as well.. he's been brilliant going forward and is a good scorer as well..

Part of me is glad Fletcher didn't score. I took him off my fantasy team last minute the other day. Would've kicked myself.

Fabio is a liability for us at the moment, he's diving in way too much on tackles instead of jockying the defenders. Some of the tackles being halfway up the pitch and Birmingham can then break down their left hand side.

I'd put it down more to inexperience than abilty, but hopefully it'll be addressed at half time.

It should be more than 1 really, but when Birmingham are very deep at the back it's difficult to get around them to create any form of chance.

Some good play so far. Nice combinations on the flanks between the wingers and full-backs. Neat passing and a couple of good opportunities.

Ref is a wanker who takes every opportunity to break up play for no reason at all. The Berbatov high-foot decision was a joke.

Midfield have been OK. Fletcher should have scored and he's misplaced a few passes. Scholes has been good, and looks suited to these type of games.

Make-shift defence have been alright, although I don't think Foster has taken a long kick yet. Saying that, some of his quick throws out to wings have started promising breaks.

it's still early doors. Fabios just getting used to Valencia and he's doing ok defensively

I just think we're maybe not using the width as much as we should be. We're playing into their hands somewhat and they've gained in confidence from that. (I mean valencia and nani)

Hopefully we can up the tempo in the second half.

that Joe Hart is crap, fumble at the ball, need to put more pressure on him.

First game of the season - good half from Rooney, Berba and Nani. We are are generally slow starters and the players will get sharper - 3 points from this game is good enough with a lot of players missing

Haven't seen anything from Valencia yet to suggest he should be playing at United. How old is he ?

Do we already have the miss of the season?

not as easy as you think ... ball coming across your body and having to open the foot to score as there was a defender there to block if he put his foot through. You would hope that he'd score but one could understand if put wide.

Fletch has played well, bar a couple of fancy but unneccesary passes that have been read/intercepted.

fergie taking chances fielding Da Silva vs McFadden.

he's 24

To be honest the first half looks bit boring. We need to show more attacking flair there.

Has anybody noticed Scholes' reluctance to pass the ball to Nani? I noticed it last season too...

It's probably because Nani finds himself in rubbish areas, he doesn't find space well at all.

I thought Valencia tucked in a lot surprisingly today, even when we were in possession.

Rooney's done quite well in parts, Berbatov's done well in parts, but once again it's Berbatov doing well in the build-up and Rooney doing well in the final part. So much for Berbatov playing ahead of Rooney, which is something I never thought Sir Alex meant.

Fabio's a rubbish defender.

Foster's done alright, but for that Jerome shot, one corner and one free kick he looked very shaky and indecisive. Thankfully it never came to him though.

Evra's excellent. Always.
