Manchester United vs. Blackburn Rovers

Nanis all round game has been good but the guy really has to work on his end product

I know Fergie has promised Wayne that he won't have to play on the left but i would like to see Rooney Berba & Owen together on the pitch at some point...at east as an option later on in games rather than always bringing Owen on for Berba

Obertan on for Nani. That will bring some much needed unpredictability to our game.

If anyone is predictable it's Valencia. Take ball out to right flank, attempt erratic right foot cross from wherever. If defended, run out of ideas and toe-poke it to nearest teammate. Avoid using left foot at all costs.

Nani's been much better than Berbatov. At least the Portuguese looks like creating something sometimes, even if he does give it away a lot. Berbatov's been totally anonymous, when he's not fecking up.

Yet he still seems to be regarded as an untouchable first teamer.

Would of had two though if it wasn't for Rooney's offside and a cracking save, no one else has come closer.

I think we need one of these signs put up

Our best attacking play came from a counter attack. we need to inject some pace into our offense, instead of passing it around outside the box while Blackburn park the bus. Counting on Samba or the other defender to misjudge a header from a cross isn't the best way to win this match. And also Robinson is looking the part today.

Nani has been good and bad. Won loads of freekicks and given Chimbonda a horrid time, and heavily involved in our best move. Great pass for Rooney but unfortunately he was offside. Other than that he hasnt played the match at full throttle enough for my liking. Just jogging around instead of really going for it.

He's cut inside at least 3 times off the top of my head and has harried the opposition out of possession more than anyone else on the pitch - you actually watching the game?

The reason I saw take Valencia off for Obertan is because Obertan and Nani will be able to more around more, switch and cause more problems for Blackburn.

Valencia can't do that as he has one foot

we need to up the tempo around 20%. Blackburn, after last weeks result are going to dig in and it needs a quicker pace to unsettle them. I reckon that will will see that in the second half. We need more urgency in the midfield to unsettle the blackburn defenders...

Valencia has been breaking down their atacking play better than anyone else and that corner was cracking.

We were worth a goal somewhere there.
I like Anderson's setpiece efforts.
I actually mostly like how we're playing - unlike most people in the thread - I think we look fine until we get into the box

And a question:
How can a player with martial arts training, who does somersaults, always think he's hurt his back?

 gotta love the caf

 But he has been

He's done nothing. Touching the ball doesn't mean you've played well. Touching the ball lots, doesn't mean you've played well. He's done nothing with it.

And blimey we need to work on set pieces.

Rooneys been sloppy at times but great at others, atleast Berbas getting into the right positions, just needs to finish one of them.

I thought Rooney and Berbatov linked up pretty well by the way, they understand each other, we can see that with the flicks and dummies, no? Now we've just got to keep on at it then when we get the first go on and get another couple, hopefully. Patience.

Damn, you are one deluded poster.

Valencia slows down our play a lot, should make more passes for him to run onto than into his feet.

Nani's end product has been shit, but he has combined well with Evra down the left.

Our play is still too static for my liking, not enough movement up top

You didn't see Chimbonda try and breaks Nani's back them jojojo

Been very impressed with Evans and Brown today. Nani's looked good in patches, but our movement upfront has been woeful. Not just in this game, but in the last few games, the front two just standing there back's to goal asking for the ball and no one making a dart in behind.

Nani, Berbatov, Rooney three culprits for me.

Nani will never be a consistent match-winner for this club, but the fecker has all the tools to be top top class. His lack of end product is seriously getting on my tits.

Berbatov, needs to stop being lazy, get on his toes and play his heart out.

Rooney is abit rusty, needs to stop whinging and get us a goal.

A team talk from Fergie and we should be sorted.

Yep, that's why we won the league last season with them as our first choice partnership.

Because individually they are quality players. Its just the partnership itself which is an average one and takes some of the gloss off of their performances. If they actually suited playing next to each other they'd be scoring for fun.

If it wasn't for Nani we wouldn't have had any set pieces to work on.

That doesn't mean he's played well.

We're at a stage now completely opposite to what it was in the past - where Nani gets critisised for everything he does. Now he can do no wrong!

He could be quite good but feck me he's so frustrating.

Saw a lot of heavy touches from Rooney and Berbatov. Very surprised from Berbatov that.
Anyway, we need someone to be hit shots from the outside.
I am thinking of a very strange and somehow unpopular decision. Take off Carrick, push Valencia to the middle, and Obertan to the right.

If by lowering his head and running diagonally across the pitch equates to breaking down their defence, then yes he has done alot of that today... he can't seem to get past anyone though, or do something useful with the ball.

No one needs to come off, if we haven't scored with half hour left Owen should come on for someone. The wing play has been decent, Evra and Nani have combined well together, Valencia has put in some great crosses. Carrick's been very good in the middle, Anderson has been okay and it's just been missing the last touch, shot or pass between Rooney and Berbatov. Rooney's been great, Berbatov's gotten in the right positions. I don't see much wrong with how we're playing, other than we haven't scored yet.

Yes, he's doing well but most of his game revolves around cutting out wide right and hitting a cross whenever, even if cutting inside or moving around is the better option. He rarely darts at his marker like Ronaldo would do. And he rarely uses his left foot, except for toe-poke passes.

He wasnt great, that's true, but he was nowhere shit, creating our only big chance, giving their feckin cnut of a right back a really hard time and winning a lot of free kicks.
And where do you get this "as per usual" from?

Maybe you should watch the match, it might help you to make more informed comment.

Carrick doesn't deserve to come off.. for me it's our strikers and wingers who are letting us down, they're just abit off the pace and need to sharpen up a tad.

I agree with this. Certainly the midfield should up the tempo a bit...but really I can't see anything terribly wrong with what we are doing. I mean Blackburn are just sitting there and yes we have to find a way round that...but that takes patience and as the game goes on, they will get more nervous....it hopefully plays into our hands.

Having said that, I do think we need to win this match, ok, stating the bloody obvious, but its one of those defining matches in my mind....

No it means he's being chopped down everytime he's getting a run at Chimbona. Nice try though, keep it up.

I disagree about Berbatov, I'd rather he drops back into the Giggs style CM role when Scholes and Giggsy are resting, it suits his classy play. Anyway, he could easily have had 2 if not for saves and offsides. And 4 if his finishing was on form. No other player has looked like scoring yet.

Blackburn have defended well and shut down our wingers, Nani's done well to win free kicks despite being double teamed all day.
