Manchester United vs. Blackpool

rediculous comment / assumption. blackpool need a win to stay up. even if we played our strongest side it is an uneducated person who would predict that at some point we wont be heavily under pressure.

Not just a baseless assumption. Backed up with how we play at home (and have done all season), and how much possession we keep ourselves at OT.

It doesnt matter if they need a win to stay up or not, they will not dictate possession. (If they do end up doing so, then it will go against all other games thats occurred this season at OT)

Whats a ridiculous comment is going along the lines of "Oh look, they need to win so they will just do what nearly every other team has struggled to do and attack United and put pressure on our goal". Theres no evidence to back this up that they can do this.

TBF the way they play means they will get chances, especially if players are rested/not interested (as is likely)

Also they don't need to win to stay up, that's a downright lie by yer wan.

well they do dont they?

they will not be sure about other results until the end.

I really am excited about this weekend. Not just our Trophy celebration an all. But all this relegation matches.

Well Stoke have to play for pride and are playing Wigan, so Wigan will probably lose and Spurs are trying to get into Europe, so will probably batter Birmingham, should they concede less than Birmingham they will stay up.

Don't forget there is a very real chance of ours being a draw.

They're in Europe now irrespective of their result (unless they get some 10 red cards)

If the players we consider as definites for the final are rested the lads that play will be playing to secure a place on the bench in the final. They will be interested alright.

think we will beat them mate. I like Blackpool an all. But Fergie will be wanting to keep that fantastic home record going...making it a permenant thing almost going into next season.

whatever team we put out will be good enough. The other things is it would be disrespectful to the other teams not to try and beat Blackpool.

Must win this game for a several reasons which have nothing to do with other clubs.

1) Whichever players take the field will take confidence from winning - if that is to help them prepare for the CL final or for next season, matters not. A winning mentality is all that matters.

2) When we go into next season and the stats say we haven't lost a game at home since April 2010 - that fosters confidence in our players and at the same time adds to fear factor of teams coming to OT.

3) The people at the game - yes many will be more chuffed at seeing us lift the real trophy but, am sure they aren't there to watch United lose (or even draw).

4) Team on the whole doesn't want to go into the CL Final on the back of a draw and a loss(draw).

5) Rather win the league with 80 points than sub-80 points (this is a bit of my own silliness in that i think it looks better)

Screw all other clubs, let United take care of United which is all about winning every game in front of us.

van der Sar should start and be substituted so he can get his standing ovation, I hope that happens anyway.

Either that or he should come on as a sub in the 2nd half. I'd prefer the second option to be honest because he will get to play less minutes and hence less chances of injury. I have a feeling he might play a little while in the testimonial match as well.

The shitstorm the press are whipping up about our lineup is pissing me right off.

You'd get a more commited performance from fringe players than you would established players who won't dare put a put in for risk of an injury pre Barca. fecking numpties!

Why? Enjoy it.
I'd love it if fergie took the piss and fielded a reserve side. Wont happen, but the reaction if it did would be brilliant
something like
---------------Amos
Vermijl-----Reece----Wooton-----Gill
b3b3--norwood-james-Fletch-Obertan
----------------King

All on professional contracts, all Man United players
Eat shit FA

Wolves owner can feck off, who is he to say what we should do or not to do? Steve Morgan = Idiot.

rioferdy5

Who was moaning when we changed all of our team vs Shalke in the CL semi final(and won)??

rioferdy5

What's the point of having a deep squad if its wrong to use them all??

Steve Morgan, Rio Ferdinand says shut the feck up.

It's a bollocks rule as they limit you to 25 players (plus youths) and then decide which players you should be playing.

Most of the Barca team will play in either this game or against Juve (Fergie said that), therefore I think 3-4-5 players from the Barca team will play against Blackpool. Hopefully not the most important players, don't want anyone to get injured.

But of course, your team is good enough to beat Blackpool, no question about that, I just don't think we'll line up like that in this game. ;)

Really looking forward to it! Got my testimonial ticket today too!

Is it me ? I'd want us to lose this... Because statistically, we hardly EVER lose 2 games straight....

chelsea and liverpool away ring a bell?

that said, i don't want us to lose, I am proud of our long unbeaten home record and long may it continue.

They want our 'best eleven' to be injured and tired when we face Barca.

feck the ABU media..

He is completely right. He said that if Wolves got a suspended fine, so should we. A punishment like that should not exist, but if one club, then two, received it, so should everyone. It's only right.

I'd happily take a second choice XI and a fine, of course.

2 - Only two away players have scored at Old Trafford on the final day of a Premier League season (Tevez 2007 & Les Ferdinand 1999). Uphill.

Fair point, but the two go against each other as well. They will play against a bunch of players with something to prove / aim to get involved in CL final squad. A team who will be more up for it than the actual players who are going to start the CL final.

But yeah its true they dont need a win. A draw is good enough should Birmingham fail to win, but if they are going for a draw, that goes back to the whole they wont be going suicidal in attacking which means that VDS wont have much to do. I still believe he wont have much to do. The way he organises his defence and commands his defence means that he wont be relied up (kuszczak on the other hand would probably have more to do imo cos he cant command a defence like VDS can)

IF that makes sense ¬¬

Anyway, cant wait for the match. Ticketless for this game much like the last one I went to. All on the OU card...

So the starting XI for the CL final won't start/play this weekend. What predicament would SAF have faced had United wrapped up the league prior to the Blackburn match? Because he'd probably have sent out a reserve/youth mixture for Blackburn and Blackpool, which would have seen the CL starting XI facing a three week layoff. In that retrospect, was the club better off having not won the league before the Blackburn match?

I think Nani will start with Valencia/Park starting the CL final.

I'll go VDS - Fabio - Smalling - Evans - O'Shea - Nani - Fletcher - Scholes - Ober - Berba - Owen

When Nani starts, we haven't lost a single game so hopefully he'll start against Barca...

Field Bebe' Obertan and let Owen + Berbs have their deserved play time and I think we should be cool.

Raf--Small--Evan---O'Shea

Bebe'--Gibbo--Fletch--Ober
