Manchester United vs Bolton Wanderers

Why's the Bolton crest bigger than United one? Sorry to say this Jez but you have fecked it all up big time. I remember when I started a matchday thread in the Newbies when we played Derby at home and the Derby crest was bigger than United crest and the people went mad. You will die once everyone wakes up and sees this thread.

And 3-0 win for us :)

Ha, it got edited by a mod I'm guessing. I had a massive United one before, and they deleted all my lineups and questions about the game as well.

I remember that Newbie matchday thread; you got a good verbal raping.

EDIT: There, edited it back myself and now the Bolton crest is smaller than the United one

I'll get called a twat if I verbally rape the thread starter for making the worst matchday thread this season. So I won't bother...

You donkey anus licking twathead!

Anyway...

If we look at the premiership predictions over at the football forum, its 100% United win for us. We all feel confident that this is the game thats going to really kick start us into the next gear.

Ronaldo's starting according to Ferguson. Rooney could get rested with Tevez getting the nod. Berbatov needs the games and i'd expect Nani to get a match. We'll probably go with Scholes and Hargreaves in the centre.

Perhaps a 442 with Nani and Ronaldo wide, Tevez and Berb up top and Hargreaves and Fletch in the center of midfield with Scholes rested for Europe.

We should really start winning now I feel, hopefully Fergie plays two natural wingers in Ronaldo and Nani and leaves either Tevez, Rooney or Berbatov on the bench. Personally I'd go with Berbatov and Tevez upfront, but I think it's pretty likely Fergie will start Tevez and Rooney, and I honestly can't see Berbatov sitting on the bench either. My choice:

Berbatov - Tevez
Nani - Hargreaves - Anderson - Ronaldo
Evra - Vidic - Ferdinand - Brown
PIG

Subs: Amos (if Edwin is still injured), Rafael, Scholes, Giggs, Rooney, Manucho, Fletcher

Based on yesterday's performance this should be a good game to watch, improve the finishing and we'll win comfortably. We were way too wasteful against Middlesbrough.

I don't care what line up we will play. Just beat the shit out of them.

Would like to see ronnie start and also would like to see berba and tevez combination. if ronnie does not start nani has to as we need some wing play.

FW: Wayne Rooney #10

Subs: Ben Amos #40, Gary Neville #2, John O'Shea #22, Ryan Giggs #11, Anderson #8, Nani #17 & Carlos Tévez #32

Damn, this is hard. I can't belive I've left Hargreaves out, maybe it's time I admit that Giggs doesn't always have to be in the 18. But he's such a good player and it's too hard to leave him out. John O'Shea is defensive cover for anywhere on the pitch, I trust him enough to replace anyone in the defence so I always put him on the bench. Neville and Brown is a coin toss really, dunno who will start but the other will definately be on the bench. Anderson has had a break in the league, so I'd expect him to be in the squad, but if not this is where Hargreaves will be. Nani and Tévez can have such an impact on the game, especially in the latter stages so I have to choose those as well.

As for the starting line-up, I'm expecting a 4-4-2, but like the team for the Chelsea game, it has the option of switching to a 4-3-3 whenever needed, like so:

Ronaldo - Fletcher - Scholes - Park
----- Berbatov ------ Rooney -----

Becomes:

Fletcher -- Scholes -- Park
Ronaldo - Berbatov - Rooney

Anyway, we'll beat Bolton.

Trotters hopeful over key duo
2008-09-24 17:11:00

Bolton hope to have record signing Johan Elmander and midfielder Matt Taylor available to face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Sweden international Elmander, signed from Toulouse for £10million this summer, suffered a hamstring injury just 15 minutes into his second game for the club against Newcastle at the end of August.

Taylor is fit again after sustaining a broken toe in the St James' Park defeat and the duo will be welcome additions to Gary Megson's squad.

The pair have showed no ill-effects after returning to training and both could feature as the Trotters tackle the Premier League and European champions.

Megson told the club's official website: "Johan's had this hamstring strain and everybody seems to be comfortable with the way that he has trained over the last week so we are hopeful that he will be out there.

"Matty isn't very far away at all."

Megson will also be able to welcome back young defender Gary Cahill, who has completed a three-match ban following his dismissal in the Carling Cup defeat to Northampton on 26 August.

Cahill is expected to step straight back into the first XI despite his lack of match action, with his manager confident he will be able to handle the challenge of keeping the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Dimitar Berbatov and Wayne Rooney under wraps.

Megson said: "I think any team would miss that quality because I do happen to believe that he is the best young centre-half in the country.

"We have missed his qualities - he has got pace and he's good in the air. He's not the finished article yet but we were bound to miss him and it will be great to have him back. We need our better players out on the pitch because we haven't got a huge squad.

"He's been training all the time and he has done his work - he trains like a demon. It's probably not the ideal place to get chucked back in but I'm sure he'll relish it."

Who I feel will surely start:

Kuszczak (because VDS has been shaky so far)
Evra (Mainstay at leftback)
Ferdinand (Our defensive brain)
Scholes (because he will not play many this season on age factor)
Ronaldo (because he has already opened his account for the season)
Berbatov (because its his home debut)

Choices for other positions:

centerback
- Vidic (our defensive rock)
- Evans (proved his worth against Chelsea, Drogba was a mere pedestrian)

rightback
- Neville (get more game-time)
- Brown (solid in that position to 2 seasons now)

midfield
- Nani (pace, skills and good control, but often wasteful in front of goal)
- Park (our workhorse, deserves a place after the Chelsea display)
- Hargreaves (defensive cover, but not quite up to premiership pace yet)
- Fletcher (have done really well so far when called upon)
- Anderson (ball control, skills, asserts his authority on the field)

attack
- Rooney (relishes playing behind the striker, had some good interchanges with Berbatov against Chelsea)
- Tevez (how can we leave this guy out when he absolutely give 110% always)
- Manucho (home debut maybe?, looked like Adebayor when he came on against boro, we might have a gem here)

I'd pick these at the moment.

I agree with your choice but I just feel that Evans should get a start.

This kid is really good.

He reminds me of Ronnie Johnson (excuse the spelling) who was rock solid in his partnership with Jaap Stam.

He is coll and calm under pressure.

Ronny Johnsen.

Sean Ronny Johnsen to be exact.

I like that, except I feel Tevez should start this one. Whether it's for Rooney or Berbatov I don't know (and don't particularly care). I'd also like to see Hargreaves and Evans on the bench, but it's hard to see how to fit them.

Why is everyone dropping VDS?
I can tell you now, if hes fit, he will play

Also, would be interesting to see Tevez and Berbatov together, but Fergie may reunite Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez...or play all four?

Either way, I think we will destroy Bolton, and scores of 2-0 are inaccurate

More like 4-5

think scholes should get a rest for this one, maybe fletcher and anderson in the middle? i dont think its been tried before though

Scholes and Anderson in a midfield two? Won't ever happen again as long as we've got Hargreaves and Fletcher fit, I reckon. Well, maybe cos it's Bolton at Old Trafford this time around..

Yeah, i think Anderson-Scholes will work for some reason. Anderson deserves a start against Bolton because he played awesome on Tuesday. Either that or Hargreaves/Fletcher with Ando i say.

Sorry everyone, but on recent form Rooney easily outstrips Berbatov. I'm shocked at the number of people on this thread who are starting Berbatov ahead of him. Maybe some are still caught up in Transfer Forum hysteria.

Tevez - Rooney
Nani - Scholes - Hargreaves - Ronaldo
Evra - Vidic - Rio - Brown
VDS

Yeah, i think Anderson-Scholes will work for some reason.

Past three Scholes-Anderson pairings in a midfield 2:

Zenit 2-1 United
Derby 0-1 United
United 1-2 City

Iffy to say the least.
