Barclays Premiership
17 March, 2007
KO: 12:45
Old Trafford

Team will be:

GK: VDS - I hope to god

RB: Neville
CB: Ferdinand
CB: Vidic
LB: Heinze - regardless of whether Evra is fit

RM: Ronaldo
CM: Carrick
CM: O'Shea
LM: Giggs

CF: Rooney
CF: Smith

2-0 home win, Smith and Ronaldo with the goals

We have been playing so fecking shit of late. It needs to stop right now at home.

oH btw... it will be 1 - 1

We played an excellent first half against Boro, just didn't finish them off.

Hope we can carry this through to Bolton.

VDS
Gaz
Rio
Vida
Heinze
Ronaldo
Carrick
Oshea
Giggs
Rooney
Smith

3-0 to us, Ronaldo, Rooney and Giggs to score. We should keep a clean sheet.

one of two ways, bolton captiulate and with little effort and we dominate or tight game settled by the odd goal for either side

schedule at soccernet says the match vs bolton is on 16th and the fa cup replay against boro is on 18th.. is it true those matches have been moved?

The team I'd play (if everyone's fit)

-------VDS-----------
Gary-Rio-Vidic-Evra
Park-Giggs-Carrick-Ronaldo
---Rooney--Smith---

VDS

Neville
Brown
Vidic
Heinze

Park
Carrick
O'shea
Giggs
Ronaldo

Rooney

2-1, Rooney and Giggs

3-0 United, also did anyone else realize that Scholes is now only going to miss one Premiership game because of the FA Cup replay, which means he'll be back for Blackburn which i feel is certainly the silver lining of having to do the replay.

Agreed.

I expect Ronnie and Rooney to come off if we are winning by two goals come the 60th minute. Might need them come the fa cup game against the wankers

Hopefully Edwin's scan goes well, but if it does not:

PIG

Nev Rio Vidic Evra

Park O'Shea Carrick Ronaldo

Rooney Giggs

Subs: Heaton, Brown, Heinze, Richie, Smith

Would be nice to put this away early and rest Giggs and Ronnie. Lets get back on form men.

feck i hate early KO, looks like im gonna miss that aswel
anyway:
VDS
Neville-Rio-Vida-Heinze (even if Evra is fit as he is better in the air)
Ronnie-O'Shea-Carrick-Giggsy
-------Rooney-Smudger -
2-0 smith and ronaldo

----------------------Van Der Sar------------------------

--Neville---------Rio-----------Vidic-------------Evra---

--Park-------------Carrick-----OShea-------------Giggs--

------------------------Rooney---Ronaldo----------------

Prediction:2-1 Ronaldo, Giggs

Fergie has said he'd be rotating a bit for this one.

----------------VDS--------------------
----Brown-----Rio-----Vidic----Evra-----
Park-----O'Shea----Carrick----Richardson
-----------Smith-----Rooney------------

2-1 Smith, Park, Nolan.

Btw, I thought it meant bad luck to start a match-day thread before the previous game has been played

I wouldn't classify the Europe XI thing a "game."

Edwin still struggling

Edwin van der Sar is still struggling with a calf strain and looks set to miss United's Premiership game with Bolton at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime.

The Dutch goalkeeper picked up the injury during the warm-up before United's FA Cup clash at Middlesbrough at the weekend.

Although a scan has shown there is no long term damage, van der Sar has been told to rest up for the rest of the week.

"The scan showed there was a little damage in my calf, but hopefully it won't take too long to heal," he told his personal Icons website.

"I don't think I will be back in time to face Bolton on Saturday - that would be pushing it. We will see but it certainly doesn't look that way at the moment.

"I suddenly didn't feel good in the warm-up, so I decided not to play. It's always better to rest, even if it's just a small strain, so that it doesn't get any worse.

"I didn't have to go for any treatment, so I stayed and watched the Boro game. I think we played okay in the first half, we had a few chances after the first goal and Boro did too. Tomas (Kuszczak) made a great save from Yakubu early on, so that was good for him.

"It definitely put us back a little bit to concede a goal straight before and straight after half time; it was a bit nail-biting for a while there," he added.

"But it was great for us to get a goal back with Ronaldo's penalty and get them back to Old Trafford. We could have done without it, but we have another chance to reach the semis and that will make it all worthwhile."

I wonder who is the more nervous, going into this final stretch - Fergie, players or the fans?

Seems like it is the fans (a majority on this site, anyway) to me...pretty strange cause I'm sure Fergie & the team probably has more at stake.

quite ticky as i read that bolton will go for a draw, especially we are short of strikers now, i would predict 1 - 0 with ronaldo scorring the vital goal

he would probably play a stronger team in the prem wouldn't he, than the cup that is, seeing as how the prem has a higher priority. That's just my opinion though :D

PIG

Neville Rio Vida Evra

Park Giggs Carrick Ronaldo

Smith Rooney

This team is more then capable of winning against Bolton.

Out: Van Der Sar, Silvestre, Scholes, Fletcher, Saha, Solskjaer

-------------------------PIG---------------------
Neville------Ferdinand-----------Vidic--------Evra
-Park--------Carrick------------O´Shea-----Giggs
-------------Ronaldo-----------Rooney-----------

Subs: Heaton, Brown, Heinze, Richardson, Smith

I have a bad feeling about this game - especially given the way we've been playing recently.

Don't worry mate, it'll be ok.

I just hope SAF sticks with Heinze as he has played well in the last two games and is far more solid than Evra, who still shows a worrying lack of knowledge of the art of defending.
