Manchester United vs. Celtic

Definition of a small club...

Truly pathetic.

I agree, lets hope we get some champion league action against celtic, so we show them our real firepower!

Djemba and Smith playes both good matches! Hope to se Kleberson and Djemba alot this season!! :P

Typical manc sour grapes - the jocks LOVE doing the big English teams over no matter what the game - let them have their moment for fcuk's sake !!

And by the way, I would suggest that Keane, Howard, Giggs, Neville P, Neville G, O'Shea, Djemba, Forlan, Smith are NOT reserves!

Stick to Liverpool forums. You magically appear only when United lose.

BTW, the normal starting XI for United is:

Tim
Gaz-Rio-Micky-O'Shea
Ron-Keane-Scholes-Giggs
Ruud-Saha

Only Keane, Gaz, Tim, and O'Shea started tonight. Giggs played the last 14 minutes.

Phil, Forlan, Djemba, and Smith are backups.

As I wasn't able to see the game can someone do player ratings -ta?

Sounds as though Bellion had a nightmare

Were any of the yougsters fit to back up the first team - imparticular how did Djemba, Richardson and Eagles do?

look I dont know what type of crap you are, you may be a gooner or a scouser, but dude this is pre-season. Most of the players dont give a s@#t about these matches. Only little clubs like pool or celtic actually celebrate these insignificant victories.

Not bad from the youngsters. Bit disapointed Bardsley didnt asset himself a bit more.

Key performers:

Smith - played very well, especially 1st half. 2nd half he faded somewhat but he seemed to get more frustrated as he dropped deep into midfield to get the ball.

Djemba - Passing is sometimes way-would but very strong in the middle of the park.

Eagles - grew as the game went on

Spector - Brilliant, again. Nailed on first team prospect.

Bad performers:

Bellion - apalling.
Forlan - he wont be here long. Simply terrible.
Giggs - poor when he came on.

Milan game should be a bit better with Ruud, Scholes etc., otherwise, not a bad run out. G'night.

They were total SHITE! What exactly were you watching? Only Richardson looked worthy of a place out there. Smith doesn't know where to play, wandering all over the place (and so out of position) and as with Leeds, he makes the wrong decisions with his passing and lay-offs - he was crap!

You sure those guys are traveling to the US for one match? I did see one article that Saha is here and will play but nothing about Ruud or Scholes or Micky.

Bellion, Djemba, McShane, Spector, Bardsley, Chadwick, Richardson, Eagles, Forlan - All second string.

Total WUM here. Smith was once again the best player on the pitch for United. He was creating space with his strength, scored a good header, held up the ball quite well. Sheer class the guy is.

Howard should have stayed on his line for the scond goal
Gary and Phil were Gary and Phil
Eagles is too small
Richardson looks really promising
Djemba got stuck in and was wrongly penalizrd for many good tackles
Keano was out of position
JOS was out of position
Bellion was shit
Chadwick never touched the ball
Giggs had no affect
Bardsley missed a sitter. Total inexperience
Smithy looked good. Class
Spector looked good. Some good touches and good defending.
Forlan tried and shot at goal at every opportunity. His best effort Bellion got in the way
Celtic fans look like they've just won the European Cup
I almost went to this game......soooo glad I didn't
Fergie could not have been happy with this.
50,000+ at this game must be very disappointed......I would recommend United don't do this again for many years. Nobody will pay this money to see them again fielding reserve team like this. I know it's not totally their fault but they should have realized this when they set this up.

Fergie said that he will probably call them out for the Milan game, probably because our youngsters will get killed by Milan otherwise. Also its a commercial thing, the Yanks will want to see the big guns.

Richardson is getting better it seems, hopefully he can break through and support giggs this year
i hope so
that would mean we have giggsy's replacement with us

would prefer someone from the youth ranks to take over from the wing wizard than somone who's bought over the summer/winter

Mozza said:

I hope he does too, for the club. But I also would like to see an United left wing playing for England in the World Cup.

Still surprised SAF didn't sign Milner when he signed Smith. Would be a good battle between Milner and Richardson to be Giggs successor.

Has he sorted his hair out, silly haircuts are a no no for me, Spector also needs to visit the barber.

This is the same Alan Smith from Leeds right? The man EVERYONE on here hated more than life itself.. said he was shite, a dirty c.... yeah, him right? Pure class you say?

I see.

p.s. Van - Forlan & Smith make up 50% of your strike force whether you like it or not... oh, that's if you don't count Bellion

Alright.. had me fun for 6 months.

I have the 5-1 game from the other night (which I flew 3000 miles to be at) if you want to see how to score goals. Oh, you'll see fans in Red actually singing at that game too!

1 in two games.. tut tut

See yous mid-season.

Actually our strikeforfce consists of Ruud, Saha, Smith and Scholes. You know Paul Scholes? Scored 36 goals in the last 2 season playing as striker....Im sure you'll get it in a minute.

pssst... mozza.... I'll whisper it.... Scholes is a midfield player. And you're goalscoring stats are wrong too mate.... don't embarrass yourself. Sneak away quietly while no-one's looking. I won't tell... promise.

Bellion, if he plays atall next season, will play as a winger. He is shocking though, he was a gamble on what Fergie thought was a free, he's just...fast.

Forlan is off anyway.

And Smith is very promising, I was fiercy objected to his move to United but he's impressed me so far, I look forward to seeing him play with our first teamers because he did very well with predominantly reserve players so his service wasnt great.

Oh, and we'll probably have Rooney too:

Ruud Van Nistelrooy
Louis Saha
Alan Smith
Wayne Rooney

doesnt look all that bad to me.

no... wrong again.... Cisse, Owen, Baros, Pongolle. Diouf doesn't even hav a squad number.

Smith ahead of Owen huh???? Ok, that's not even worthy of a response it's so pathetic.

Well look at this:

My my, out by 2 goals, Im shocked a pool fan like you would pay such close attention to the goals from a man united player. Scholes is not a midfield player, he plays best in the hole behind a striker, thats where hes been most sucessfull for us, something Im sure your aware of seeing as you can remember his goals tally by heart.

So Smith... playing the EXACT same way he's always played for Leeds, is now impressive - yet he was shite playing that EXACT style for Leeds!

God you lot are sad!

Ok, let's have a poll... an easy one. Is Scholes:

a) a midfield player
b) a striker

There you go. Nice and simple. Let's see what we get shall we.

Beasley is about the same weight today as he was at 19. We don't know if Eagles will grow. I like the kid already though. Tenacious and has a deadly cross. Reminds me of someone that used to send in corners and now plays for Real? Can't remember the guy's name though.

But even Fergie says that Eagles MUST bulk up to survive the whole of an EPL season, and to be fair to Becks, he's bigger than Eagles is, although the playing style (the good parts) is a little similar.

Glad to hear Richardson and Eagles did well. Both may get a chance in the 1st team this season.

My player reviews:

Smith - amazing. The doubters are going to have to shut their mouths.

Bellion - summed up best by Howard: "David... David..David...David...David, get in the wall...David, get in the MOTHERfeckING WALL". He totally didn't seem to be aware of the game going on around him. He looked very lost. This could have been his worst performance. I still think there's hope for him, and that he has grown in a year, but he took a step back tonight.

Richardson was excellent, but Eagles was pure class, especially considering the fact that he was being assaulted on the pitch after his unfortunate tackle.

O Shea was very out of place.

Djemba was fantastic, really dominating, and if the official had eyes, he would have been even more dominating.

Gary, Phil, Howard all were business as usual.

Keane looked a little more fragile in defence than he previously has, but other than getting outpaced the one time, did fairly well.

Spector had another great performance, but not as good as his vortuoso performance against Bayern. He was unlucky to have conceeded the penalty, his two biggest lapses happening in the span of 7 seconds.

McShane, Bardsley, Giggs, and Jones came on and did give some sharpness in their positions, but perhapsG Giggs had less of an impact than he would have prefered, I'm sure.

Forlan looked way better than Bellion.

Chadwick can't seem to keep the ball. The second he starts a run, a defender leads him into a blind alley and easily strolls off with the ball.

Hmm.

Hmm what you idiot? did you see the players SAF used? he used inexperienced promising players! he didnt use van nistelrooy, saha, scholes, ferdinand, silvestre, etc. While celtic played their starting XI. So dont start comparing our result to liverpool's or chelsea's. BTW most of our youngsters played great the problem was team coordination. and it is pre-season it doesnt count! Oh and your pathetic enough by using the word soccer in your nickname, its football you cnut! Come on united!

you seem to be getting AWFULLY agitated considering it was only a friendly.

Calm down my manc friend.. you'll burst a blood vessel :D

Losing 2-1 to the mighty Celtic was a good result considering you only played Roy "who was it that just ran past me... kick 'im will yer cos I can't catch him no more" Keane, Giggs, both Nevilles, Howard, O'Shea, Forlan, Smith and Djemba...
