----------------Hernandez

that 'knees deep in cluj' shit was so gay, please don't anyone say it ever.

Squad rotation all the way!

Vidic to start if he's in fact cleared to play. If his minutes need to be limited I'd rather start him and pull him off at halftime, for Wooton I would assume, than bringing him on late.

De Gea, for obvious reasons.

Powell, because this kid is ridiculous, my friends. Give him quality time whenever humanly possible.

Not sure why Saf said Rooneys starting, doesn't make any sense to play him before such an important game in such a meaningless game. No Vidic either.

So he will probably start.

I would think that Rooney is not really at the top of his game these days, and need to play as much as possible to really get some form. He's got a great engine on him, so playing 60 minutes probably would not do him any harm. Unless he gets injured, obviously.

That is what Fergie said in his presser last evening.

14:16 Sir Alex on Rooney: "Wayne needs to play a lot of games to get his match fitness up. He's a strong built lad and when he misses two games it takes him three games to come back. It's the way he's always been. He'll play tomorrow night and hopefully that brings him on further. On Saturday, that was his best performance of the season so far." (NC)

Well, there we go. If Fergie believes that Rooney was at his best so far this season against Reading, then we just need to keep giving him gametime to maintain/improve that level.

Hopefully he only gets 60 minutes then, would also like to see Valencia get a run out.

Yeah, I hope Rooney only plays an hour at the very most. To be fair though, City have played Hart, Maicon, Kompany, Lescott, Nastasic, Barry, Garcia, Nasri, Tevez, and Dzeko in their game. Along with subbing on Zabaleta and Aguero. The only players that played on Tuesday for City that are definitely not starting on Sunday were Sinclair and Balotelli really. You can make cases for the others but it depends on who is really 'injured' for them.

For example, Silva is apparently injured but he's guaranteed to start. Yaya Toure will come in, Clichy or Kolarov will probably be fit, while Zabaleta and Aguero would probably start again. Not sure how serious Milner's injury is (if he has one) but I'd hope he does start as he's shit. Not fully sure how City would line up, but I would guess something like this:

Hart

Zabaleta
Kompany
Nastasic / Lescott
Clichy

Barry
Toure
Garcia
Silva

Aguero
Dzeko

With Tevez, Nasri most likely to come off the bench. He might not start Dzeko but we've struggled in the air so that might be the reason he starts instead of being their super sub.

But yeah, in fairness City took their game at least moderately seriously, so we'll do the same (although I expect only 2-3 of our starters will start on Sunday, while it'll be more like 5-6 or even 7 for City).

Can imagine there will be a few empty seats (I mean against our normal standard... not to a City standard or anything) tonight... especially as it's a) a dead rubber, and b) freezing cold.

Still, I'm sure they'll tell us there are 75,000 people in attendance... much like they did against West Ham...

They sent me a text yesterday saying that there were a 'limited number of tickets left', considering that they haven't sent me a text like this for about two year - I would guess that there are feck loads of tickets left.

My prediction:

De Gea
Jones Smalling Wootton Buttner
Powell Scholes
Welbeck Rooney Giggs
Chicharito

Maybe Vermijl for Wootton, and Jones and Smalling as CB's, and vermijl at right back then. And Fletcher could start instead of Powell, that probably depends if he is fit enough.

You can tell this game doesn't matter. One hour before the game and we are not even on the third page. Line ups?

From Uefa: De Gea, Jones, Smalling, Buttner, Wootton, Giggs, Cleverley, Powell, Rooney, Chicharito, Welbeck

Lindegaard, Rafael, Young, Scholes, Fletcher, Vermijl, Macheda on the bench.

From Uefa: De Gea, Jones, Smalling, Buttner, Wootton, Giggs, Cleverley, Powell, Rooney, Chicharito, Welbeck

With the obvious exception of Giggs, that is a seriously young team! Average gotta be around 22/23?

It could be 433, but I think it's diamond again.

That midfield is going to be interesting, wonder if it'll be a 433 or a diamond with giggs holding. Pretty confident no giggs against city then, surprised the bench doesn't have 1 more youngster on it, if all goes well would have been nice to give 3 of them time.

So we know that Rooney is certain to play on Sunday and there's a chance DDG is being drafted back in with Sunday in mind.

What about Clev? Giving him some game time to sharpen him up for City?

Would it really matter who plays on Tuesday & Wed for a game on Sunday. Injuries aside I'm pretty sure they'll ALL be rested and raring to go (in both camps)

The only advantage I can see is in terms of training, ie a lot more of our players can work on a few more specifics with Sunday in mind without the distraction of a midweek match

Who plays Tue/Wed has no baring on fitness
