Manchester United vs Chelsea - Sunday, 5 August 2007 (1500 BST)

I hate that with all our new signings we stil look likely to start with O'Shea in midfield!

Play Fletch!

Should be a decent game hopefully bearing in mind its technically a friendly.

Fletch for me aswell....maybe bringing on Gibson in the second half? :nervous:

I'd like to see Hargreaves and I'd love to demolish Chelski for this meaningless bit of silver, but not enough to risk an early season slip-up or injury.

I want this side

VDS

Neville/Brown
Rio
Vidic
Evra

Fletcher
Carrick
Gibson

Ronaldo
Rooney
Giggs

And we will lose btw.

No chance in hell we will beat Chelsea with 2 big CMs like Scholesy and Hargo missing. Sorry.

I guess I'd like to see:

-------------------------VDS---------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------
Brown-----------Rio---------Vida----------------Evra
--------------------------------------------------------
Fletch--------Gibson-------Carrick------------Giggs
--------------------------------------------------------
----------------Rooney--------------------------------
-------------------------------Ronaldo----------------

i dont know why people dont care at all about this game, its a feckin game that will boost or bring down confidence on one side and the other.

If you know we have a bad record against Chelsea since Mourinho took charge and it seems u want that record to increase.

Just to remind u

Last Fa Cup Chelsea 1 - 0 United
Last League Chelsea 0 - 0 United
Last league United 1 - 1 Chelsea
05/06 league Chelsea 3 - 0 United
05/06 league United 1 - 0 Chelsea
04/05 league United 1 - 3 Chelsea
04/05 league Chelsea 1 - 0 United

It will be another reality check after the Inter game and a good gauge of our readiness for the new season. Also a chance to make our poor record against Moaninho better.

Can't wait for this one.

id love to see us win this but won't exactly be gutted if we lose. not having scholes will lessen our chances of winning this but rooney and ronaldo can make the difference here.

With carrick and flecther we'll have center midfielders more suited to chasing the ball and tracking back than keeping possesion, which will inhibit ronaldo and giggs performances. Also Rooney will find it tough with Terry and Carvalho and with his finishing not one of the greatest he'll find it impossible to beat Cech. Only way will be to nick a goal.... Hopefully Nani and anderson get 20 mins at the end...

----------------VDS----------------
-----Brown---Rio---Vidic---Evra-----
Ronaldo---Carrick---Fletcher---Giggs
----------Rooney---Dong-----------

Hopefully we throw caution to the wind and play some good stuff.

Don't want to see us play some italian style dross trying not to lose, instead of trying to win in the fecking Charity Shield.

Fergie said he expects it to be more exciting, hopefully he is right.

Im hoping for an entertaining game that wouldnt bring any injuries. It would be fun to see some of the new signings in action.

Seems like none of the new boys are playing :(
Would have liked to see Nani and Anderson play a good part of the game today.

I'd guess for this team:

-------------------------VDS---------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------
Brown-----------Rio---------Vida----------------Evra
--------------------------------------------------------
Fletch/Nani--------O'Shea-------Carrick------------Ronaldo
--------------------------------------------------------
----------------Giggs--------------------------------
-------------------------------Rooney----------------

Still have a small hope of seeing Nani though.

I prefer we win against Reading in the first game of the league than this "bonus trophy". But its always nice to beat Chelsea no matter what is at stake.

Ah. "Charley's lessons finally paid off and Roy liked what he saw," guffaws Chris Aldridge.

:lol::lol::lol:

As an aside- i was watching SSN there and they were on about the money we've spent (50m so they say) but its not that much really is it.

With Tevez (loan) Nani 7m + later add ons, Anderson 8m plus add ons, Hargreaves 17m- Players out 18.5m which leaves 13.5 million net spend- not very much at all really.

How somebody can't care or wish for a win against the rentboys?
i hope we crush them in every game we play against them.
Come on United...the beer is on cold.

Sensationalists ... SSN is like The Sun in video sometimes ....

Of course everyone would like to beat chelsea, but I really just want us to get through without any injuries, so although I think it will be more entertaining that the FA cup, i can't see it being a tough tackling game at all. Chelsea will want no inuries either since their crock list is getting bigger. It won't be over competitive. As Rio said, of course you want to beat one of your main rivals in a game...but the focus has to be Reading next week - you just can't help the different physcological approach the players will have for these two games.

I'll go for 1 - 1, or possible 1 - 0 to Chelsea (drogba 88th min ;) ). We have never had high scoring games against the renties... I feel Chelsea might be up for it a bit more, since I do'nt care what they say about the FA cup, it was the premiership they wanted and will feel they have a bit more to prove.....

Next week? Manchester United 4 Reading 1 :)

I hope Gibson plays. The guy has some serious talent.Surely way way better than O'Shea in Midfield.I fcking hope Oshea doesn't play in midfield.

I want a win and I want it to be entertaining. No fecking last minute goals from Chelsea.

Goals from: Rooney, Nani, and Fletcher :D

Let's hope to see Chelsea's new boys in action.

[
Man Utd (from): Van der Sar, Kuszczak, Brown, Bardsley, Pique, Simpson, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evans, Silvestre, Evra, Ronaldo, Fletcher, O'Shea, Carrick, Eagles, Giggs, Rooney.

I reckon that's a bit of a smokescreen, and that he'll put Nani, Anderson and Hargreaves on the bench.

If that is the squad, we've got a feck of a lot of good players not in it. Worried we'll start the season slowly, unless Rooney and Ronaldo carry us.

Not in that list, for all the different reasons:

Ben Foster
Gary Neville
Gabriel Heinze
Owen Hargreaves
Park Ji-Sung
Paul Scholes
Nani
Anderson
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Louis Saha
Carlos Tevez

According to secret pappers flown out from the bus Man Utd players were travelling in the team is;

Giggs - Rooney - Ronaldo
O'Shea - Carrick - Fletcher
Evra - Vidic - Ferdinand - Brown
Van der Sar

Kuszczak, Neville, Nani, Eagels, Anderson

It looks like a good line up. Mix of hard workers and elegant players. Can't believe we're able field such a good team with all those players gone!

And I can't believe some of you don't want to win this game.

How come this isn't on BBC this year? The tight cnuts have rugby and golf on today, but can't see any sign of the football on till 1.30am!

Hope to god that we don't have to see O'Shea in midfield again..
But, Anderson and Nani on the bench?

John O'Shea is our hero. Can't believe how you guy f*ck him all over on this forum. He is a great lad and good player in mine opinion.

O'Shea for President of USA. At least for Prime Minister in Ireland ;)

I doubt that Anderson, Hargreaves and Tevez will be involved. Nani however has a chance of making it. I for one hope that he plays against Chelsea. We could do with more attacking prowess.
