.................Van der Sar

O'Shea - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra

..............Carrick - Giggs

Valencia .........Park............Nani

...................Rooney

Roast them on the counter attack!

O'Shea ahead of Rafael purely for his extra height at set plays of which Chelsea will be a threat from especially if they bring Alex back into the side.

van der Sar

Rafael
Ferdinand
Vidic
Evra

Valencia
Carrick
Giggs
Park
Nani

Rooney

SUBS: Kuszczak, O'Shea, Smalling, Anderson, Scholes, Berbatov, Hernandez.

Is what I'd go with, although it would seem that Fergie wants to start Hernandez again.

Same team that bet them at Stamford Bridge isn't unlikely, maybe a minor tweak or two.

van der Sar, Ferdinand, Carrick, Giggs, and Rooney are almost certain to come back into the side, while Vidic and Evra will definitely keep their places.

If Rafael is fine, he'll probably get the nod - but O'Shea may keep his place.

Valencia, Nani, Park - I can see all three starting. Hernandez might sit this out unless we need a goal.

van der Sar
Rafael Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Carrick Giggs
Park
Valencia Rooney Nani

I wouldn't be surprised to see Nani, Valencia, or Park start on the bench, with Anderson getting in the middle.

Evra improved defensively towards the end of the game but he's still making far too many mistakes for me. I'd play O'Shea there with Rafael at right back.

Nervy 4-4 see saw game, with sending offs, and a last minute equaliser from us

I think Park will play. So some big decisions from Fergie. Should he play Valencia or Nani on the right? Both are in excellent form. The withdrawl of Valencia today seems to indicate that he will play.

Or he could always go for Rooney as a lone striker and play Park, Nani and Valencia.

All in all a healthy variety of choices.

You can pretty much guess what the team will be by looking at what Fergie selected today and by who he subbed off when the game was won.

Van Der Sar (Rested)
Ferdinand (rested)
Vidic Auto selection
Evra Auto selection
Carrick (rested today)
Giggs (rested)
Park (rested)
Rooney (at home swearing)
Nani (subbed off)
Valencia (subbed off)

Are all certainties in my book, the only question mark is who plays right back for me.

I'd rather play a 4-5-1. With not conceding a priority and hitting them on the counter but Hernandez not playing any part today suggests Fergie will play 4-4-2..

You say Hernandez was rested too. So it isn't clear cut.

As for right back I am fairly certain O'Shea will get in.

True but i dont see us going 4-4-2 on Tuesday, one we have no need to and two i think given its almost certain Chelsea will go back to their 4-3-3 Fergie wont risk getting outnumbered in midfield in a tie we are bossing.

I agree on O'Shea to, purely for he height.

Any chance of Fletch making it?
Wasnt he training this week

We're 6/5 to win this, with a home record this season of played 23, won 20, drawn 3, lost 0. Screams value.

Well done VidaRed, you just ruined sammsky1's birthday.

I would take a 'boring but comfortable' 0-0 really.

With such a fantastic record at home we really should be avoiding defeat. A nervy 1-1 I reckon.

I fear that too. I fear a 1-2 Chelsea is absolutely possible
Can't get rid of that feeling. Fecking nervous for this one

Get a grip and man up FFS. We have the best home record in Europe this season, got the crucial away goal and won the first leg and have been able to rest all our key players this weekend. Sure, the chavs can never be underestimated are are fully capable of scoring twice at Old Trafford, but i cant see how we could be any better prepared for the game on Tuesday.

I think we will win 2-1 (3-1 agg) or at worst 2-2 (and so win 3-2 agg).

Chelsea will be a different proposition. Back to 433. Torres on the bench. Anelka and Malouda back in. Maybe even Essien at RB.

So that would be what?

Cech
Essien Ivanovic Terry Cole
Mikel
Lampard Ramires
Kalou ----------- Malouda
Anelka

I would absolutely fancy our chances against that side and if we played Nani against Essien he'd tear him to pieces.

I'm with Excal, would love to see 4 wingers just running at that defense.

Giggs the playmaker, with Park being industrious and Tony V/Nani supplying for Rooney.

Press their asses off and lets hope we keep tight to Drogba and not let him have enough space to utilize his strengths.

That would hurt

Torres being one of the best strikers in the world, I don't think his goal drought will continue anymore. And besides he will have Drogba or Anelka by his side and Ramirez, Zhirkov assisting them from Wings.

We are doomed.
