I think more significantly he's being told to pass it forwards more often which I do think he doesn't do enough or well enough these days, whether it was the right thing to do then or not.

Generally, maybe he doesnt pass it forward as much as we might like.
But in this situation, we didnt need a goal and Chelsea were attacking. He didnt do anything wrong passing it back to De Gea. De Gea had the time to pick his pass without and pressure. Probably has a longer kick than Carrick as well.

On the whole, I agree. Would love him to pass forward more
