Manchester United vs. Coventry City [Carling Cup]

Sir Alex also confirmed that another match-hungry member of his squad has been pestering him for some involvement on Wednesday night.

"Wayne Rooney's been in my ear wanting to play," he revealed. "'I want to play, I want to be captain, I want to take the penalties, the corners, the free kicks, the goal kicks, the lot'.

"There's a real buzz about the place. We're really looking forward to it."

Amazing player

Great attitude indeed.

It will be nice for Anderson to play. He wasn't selected in the last matches so I guess he is not match fit yet.

Even if he is match fit, he'll need time to make his way into the team. Hopefully he can at least make the bench later on in the season.

It's confirmed too that Rooney specifically requested no help on the pitch. It's I v. XI. :D

Dongs got a task on his hands upstaging Torres tomorrow - I wonder if he will get four?

Ferguson Set To Give Youth A Chance

Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson is ready to give youth a chance as his team take son Coventry City in the Carling Cup on Wednesday.

Taking the lead for Arsene Wenger’s policy of letting youth flourish in the League Cup, Ferguson is ready to let the United fringe players take to the limelight.

United take on Championship side Coventry City on Wednesday, hoping to put to bed memories of the fourth round exit at the hands of Southend last season.

"I'm going to play the younger ones, but also players like Anderson, Nani, maybe O'Shea," he said. "But the younger one like Pique, Evans, Simpson, Bardlsey, Eagles, Martin, Dong, Campbell, Kuszczak - they'll all be involved,” Ferguson revealed to Manchester United Radio

"This is a really important night for these players. They all want regular first-team football and that's not easy to manage. I'm trying to get them games in the Premier League and in Europe too, but Wednesday is a great opportunity for them.

"You have to use your squad throughout the course of the season and I'll be doing that when the time's right. At the moment they might not see that, but it will happen and I know they won't let us down.

"A lot of these players have already shown great improvement. Chris Eagles has been sensational in training and the games he's played in. Young Jonny Evans and Gerard Pique have also been excellent, as has Danny Simpson.

"There's real promise there and that's what we want to see on Wednesday. We want them to play with the kind of commitment they see from the first-team players every week."

Speaking about their opponents, Ferguson was sure that Coventry will put up a spirited fight when they travel to Old Trafford.

"I think Coventry will have a real go. It will be a fantastic atmosphere, which I think will help them, with 10,000 of their fans here. It will feel like a real cup tie," he continued.

Ferguson also confirmed that a striker known for his passion for the game has been nagging for a starting berth against Coventry.

"Wayne Rooney's been in my ear wanting to play," he revealed. "'I want to play, I want to be captain, I want to take the penalties, the corners, the free kicks, the goal kicks, the lot!'

Since we're going for the Quintuple hope fergie takes it seriously. :D

I want most of our younger lads to play but with a experienced striker.

Im really hoping D. Simpson and Lee will play ahead of Eagles and Bardsley. The latter 2 have no future at the club IMO.

Eagle will most likely play. SAF seems to rate him highly, he is the only player out of those four to play in the league so far this season.

A steamy BJ for a streamy PM, lads. I really want to watch this one.

Anyone know about Hargreaves?

Northern Ireland defender Jonny Evans is set for his debut, but Wayne Rooney and Louis Saha could feature, as may fit-again Owen Hargreaves (thigh).

From BBC, Fergie will probably give him a run out sometime to regain fitness. Not sure if he'll start though.

What's the story on Gaz? Is he even ready for the bench tomorrow night ? This is surely an ideal comeback game for him!

SAF said that Gaz had started full training with the first team squad and would be ready in 7 days

Maybe he'll get a run out in the reserves tomorrow

I hope the team we send out is strong enough to avoid any fluky defeats from happening. I want the likes of Anderson, Nani, Evans and Pique to stake a claim for first team action here tonight.

Will let you know if i find anything, not looking good though

I hope for Tevez and Saha up front. Anderson in CM, Nani on left, PIG in goal. the rest can be the youngsters.

There won't be any streams for this game

Yeah i've given up looking, it's not being broadcast anywhere unfortunately. Will just have to listen to the radio i suppose, and watch the highlights later

This will be as far as I remember the first time in 2 seasons that I'm not able to watch United play, it sucks, bring on the weekend.
