Manchester United vs. Coventry City [Carling Cup]

Good stuff

Get this joke cup out of the way so we can focus on the treble ;)

Half-time. Our season hangs in the balance!

This cup is nothing for me, its just a good chance for the youngster to have games cause they probably wont play a lot in the whole season.

this is the chance for the young guns to show what they can do and who is capable to stay on the first team

for those who are interested we are playing awful and can barely string 2 passes together by the end of the half.
Coventry have had 3 clear chances, other than the goal, and the post has already saved us.
Anderson started brightly but then faded, Nani and Martin have caused problems but with one striker on the pitch, in the shape of Dong, we have never looked like scoring and cant seem to retain posession.

The only option is to bring on Carrick and Campbell, inject a bit of pace and creativity.

Forget it. It's no fun just hearing. I'm off lads, I'll be watching the Chelsea game!

We should bring in a real striker. Our forward line is a laughing stock.

Micheal Mifsud proved once again that he is truly a good striker.

Seems Dong, Eagles, Martin and the defenders have been shite.

Anderson has been a bright spot.

What a pointless competition. Although this season it is important that we progress so that our huge squad of youngsters can get games. Last season I was almost happy when we went out to Southend.

Man Utd sign Dong

Sir Alex Ferguson will have to wait before seeing Dong in action
Manchester United have completed the signing of teenage Chinese striker Dong Fangzhou from Dalian Shide.
But because the youngster does not qualify for a UK work permit, he will begin his United career next season at Belgian feeder club Royal Antwerp.

United will pay £500,000 for the 18-year-old - which could rise to £3.5m depending on appearances.

If Dong is a success, United would benefit from an explosion of interest in the world's most populous country.

But he faces several hurdles before he becomes an Old Trafford regular.

He could either apply for a Belgian passport - which would allow him to play in England - or have played in 75% of China's international matches during the next two years to qualify for a work permit.

Under the terms of the deal, United are reported to be sending two or three coaches to work with Dalian Shide's development squad.

Dong, who was also linked with Real Madrid and Inter Milan, emerged as the cream of a crop of youngsters sent by China's top clubs to England for trials in August.
