I wouldn't be surprised to see Jones start in centre midfield, Fellaini as Single-handedly dominated us in the past we seem to struggle with his strength and aerial power, I can see us putting 3 men in there to help close him down. Screw the teams playing a weakened side we need 3 points here and after last season It wiill be a sickening to drop more home points to these.

Really dreading this match, it will be very difficult. Ferguson has to pick his strongest team here. Perhaps one of Rio/Vidic could be rested, but that's about it.
With Real Madrid game coming up the following week I can see us resting a couple players. I have no idea what cretin in the FA though it'd be appropriate to put us against Everon on a Sunday evening before we play Madrid 3 days later. Of course Spanish FA won't be as daft, I don't even need to check their fixtures to know that Real will have been put on Saturday.
It won't be easy, Everton have top 4 to worry about and it's already February which means their annual raise of form for the last 10-12 fixtures is coming right up. It'll be interesting to see how far ahead of City we are - they have Liverpool at home and Southampton away before we play Everton, both rather tough games.

City could very well lose or draw away to Southampton though. That won't be easy for them either.

I think most United fans care more about getting the league back than the CL this season - and I kind of feel the players and Fergie feel the same way. I can't imagine Fergie pick anything but a very, very strong team for this.

I'd agree with this. Keep VP fresh for Madrid. Rooney and Hernandez should start. Both should be fresh and RvP gets a rest before the Madrid game. I'd even want Carrick to get some rest but I can't think of our midfield without him.

for me this season the PL is Number 1, even more so after the way City won it last season.
Our first team is mostly young and energetic, not full of old pensioners, as this place might have you believe. There's no reason why we can't field close to our strongest team. Perhaps only excluding RVP and Ferdinand. Vidic will start IMO.

We really have to play our best team for this game. No stupid Scholes and Giggs starting together tactics. City really could drop points at Southampton so if we can our game there's a real chance of us going 11 points clear by the end of the week. I've just got a bad feeling that Fergie will rest players due to the Madrid game and he'll feel he has a cushion now because of the City result today. Really hope I'm wrong.

Progressing further in the CL would be a bonus. The PL should be the priority this season.
Obviously has to be a strong team, but I expect a few of the players who are near enough certs to start against Madrid to be rested. Namely Ferdinand, Valencia, and van Persie.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jones starts against Everton either, but I'd rather he comes on for Rafa after an hour. Rooney's in good form so we need to keep that going, but sub him off as well if we get that luxury. Pretty sure Vidic will come in for this though, as Fellaini was the main reason we lost in the reverse fixture, hopefully Vidic can deal with him this time (and stay on him, without him having Carrick to hop on to).

If we do lose in Madrid, as long as we can nab a goal and not lose by much, we've always got a second chance. Any slip up in the League could give City the boost they need to put on another chase. Staying 9-7 points clear over the next five or so games is key as I believe City have the more realistic chance of dropping points again, so the League really could be effectively 'over' by March. If we're through to the next round of the UCL then maybe we'll have the option of resting one or two more for a league game depending on our opponents.
One game at a time though, as they say. But at Home, we should be winning all of our remaining games bar perhaps City and Chelsea if they turn up and play well.

We'd be foolish to weaken our side for Everton, but given the strength of our squad in theory we should be able to compete in both games. Let's see how it pans out..
Yup. CL is important, but it's also a pipe dream at the moment whereas the league looks like a real possibility. Like you say, we should be able to put strong teams out for both, but we definitely shouldn't sacrifice the Everton game just so that we're less tired for Madrid.
The squad I've selected for next week has more than enough quality to beat Everton. I'm not underestimating them but Madrid is a more important match. This time of the season is about squad rotation and keeping players fresh for the big games.
