Manchester United vs. Everton

I think things will click into place in the new year. I really think the team can start grinding out results again. It may not be pretty, but that's a problem for further down the line.

norivers?

I honestly thought this was today. Night ruined now.

 what decent midfield? Ours is far better.

Fellaini wouldn't get into their midfield with martinez there. He doesn't get into Uniteds midfield either though, but comparing the options available, they have a better midfield for this game. They also have confident midfielders which make a huge difference.

With everyone fit we'd have a better midfield, yet there would not be a world of difference between the two.Fellaini hasn't really been an Everton midfielder for a while though, and he'd make their first eleven in the same position he played last season.

I agree, apart from Fellaini. The way Martinez has them playing, Fellaini definitely wouldn't start because they wouldn't use a target man like him as they did in previous years.

Is Lukaku not a target man?

He's a striker though. Fellaini isn't, and were he to play there, he would probably be shit. He's also too slow. Complete difference with a striker being the target man for a club and a midfielder being the target man, as in Fellaini's case it encourages defenders to lump it forwards.

Fair point, although Fellaini was played almost as a second striker.I think after Lukaku returns to Chelsea or wherever, Martinez will search once more for another forward player with similar attributes.Maybe over time he can change the way Everton play but for now, a lot of their football is centred around feeding the big guy.

Do you think we can get something like 22-24 points out of the next ten games?
Everton H
Newcastle H
Aston Villa A
West Ham H
Hull A
Norwich A
Tottenham H
Swansea H
Chelsea A
Cardiff H

Win the next 4 and I wouldn't rule it out. I'd like to think that we'd win all the home games.

Yup, the only game that you realistically can't expect us to win is the Chelsea games. Our home games aren't too hard for the most part, and we've already dropped a lot of points at home so it's time to get some consistency there. Our away games are Villa, Hull, Norwich (and Chelsea). Hardly a tough group of games? Last year I'd be saying we can and should be taking 25 points at the very least from them. If we want to challenge for the title, the same standard applies. 25 points at the very least from the next 10 games is what we should be expecting. A loss away to chelsea then a draw against one of them, and winning the rest. It's not like we're alone with a crazy schedule, and we should deal with it better then the smaller teams because of our squad size.

25 points would hopefully bring us back to the top 4 and really close to Arsenal.

I think it would put us in second place right behind Arsenal. I put in the title race thread a comparison of each of our fixtures until new years for Arsenal, City, Chelsea, United and Liverpool, and we have by far the easiest schedule. I could easily see the others each losing over 6 or 7 points, whereas we should realistically be winning all of our matches.

Got tickets for this and really looking forward to the match, first United game at Old Trafford in a while for me. Should be a great atmosphere too. Bit of a rarity having so many league games in midweek at the same time.

we should get at least 10 points from the next four games. winning 3 of the next four games will mean that we are generating some kind of form. things will start looking brighter, moyes and the team will feel more confident and possibly start playing a more fluid kind of football.

Genuinely think Everton will stroll this one....And I'm not on a wind up

I don't think they'll stroll it, but I certainly think we will find it difficult. Kind of not looking forward to it, which is weird.

It'd be a hard defeat to take, considering we poached their acclaimed manager and arguably their best player.

With Carrick and RVP missing, Jones suspended, Microphone head, Cleverley, Our wingers and certain parts of our defence out of form, it's going to be a long night.

Everton have won the midfield before the game has even started so it's going to be the usual over reliance on crosses from the wing, which seem to be dealt with quite easily. Up front, Lukaku will tear our out of form defence a new one

If we do lose this, Moyes is seriously in the shit! Struggling to win a game in the league, another loss against his former club who have now leap frogged him...Things will not be pretty

Everton stroll it? Oh behave.

There's always chance of losing a game in the league, but they will not stroll it.

Only BT are showing matches, why aren't Sky showing anything with all those channels they can't all be filled up with other stuff, can they?

I don't think that Sky chose to only show certani matches because there is no room in their schedule for more... surprisingly enough, they can't just decide to show as many as they want, you know.

But it is ridiculous that this match didn't end up on either channel, when it's Moyes first match against Everton. It's a fixture that would be on TV in 9 out of 10 seasons anyway, and it's not like there's some other top pick match on. Swansea v Newcastle FFS.

Shitstreams.com here I come.

I'm going to waste a tenner on Fellaini to score at any time.

Hopefully this match will see him become the player he was at Everton, surely if he needed any motivation ( which I doubt ) this has to be it.

At Everton, I thought he was quite good, without being a world class player, I would be very happy to see him reproduce his Everton form at United.
