Manchester United vs. Fulham FC

Thank feck for that. 3 points on the board.

Awful performance though. I hate to see us perform like this at home, it needs sorting out, especially as most of our remaining games are at home.

Slightly concerning.

Didn't really get going.

Was a definite penalty for Fulham at the end so off the hook. But onwards and upwards, 3 points in the bag. ;)

Should have brought Berbatov on... If he's on the bench then why not use him? If there's no chance of him getting any more minutes then whats the point? Hernandez is no use at keeping the ball.

It was a pen, i wont lose sleep though, City fans will :)

What a fecking horrible performance.

3 points, christ.

Was surprised to see us taking him off. I felt that Giggs should've been the one to come off instead.

Thats what I thought. We just lost everything going forward. THere was no middle man, Giggs looked shattered by the end

Thank god we won. Crucial 3 points but you have to wonder why we put up such a shocker of a performance after a 8 day break? Keeping Giggs on and taking off Rooney was a mystifying decision as well.

Evans MOTM. Brilliant performance!

 I know Fulham were thrashed at Craven Cottage but we should have had 2 pens down there, so please feck off with the big clubs get all the decisions at home shit. Referees feck up all the time, it doesnt always benefit us

should have been a point that.

worth it just to see the scousers and bitters kill themselves.

Not really, game should have been dead before that, we weren't good but we still did enough to win that game overall.

Ashley Young has to learn to keep the ball better. Pissing around like that is alright at Villa, but not here.

Stonewall penalty. God knows how we got away with that one.

Giggs and Rooney were awful. How Giggs lasted the 90 minutes I don't know.

Giggs was guilty of that as well. I know it's the way he plays the game, however he's got to learn to be more reserved at times when he's in the centre of midfield.

Again, the handball in the first half wouldve been a soft pen. Same for the Carrick incident.
Murphy had overrun the ball and slowed down, Carrick was always going to run into him then.
Contact doesnt mean a foul. It wasnt a foul.

Thank god for that. How nervous did we make that at the end after spending a lot of the game, certainly the first half, lazing around. Definitely a pen but happy the ref didn't give it!!! Hate that dipper twat Murphy, always tries hard against us and just wants to be a hero to his friends and family.

We looked petrified by the end. The amount of misplaced passes that even our experienced players were playing...the nervousness was obvious. With some of the younger players you can expect it because they've never experienced the run in and they don't know what the pressure is like. I ascribe Welbeck's performance, for example, to run in jitters. But in those circumstances you need your experienced players to reassure the others and it wasn't happening at the end. The replacement of Rio and Rooney didn't help the situation but still some of the senior members of the side who you would've thought might steady the ship looked just as nervy. This run in looks like its going to be really difficult if the players are already so wound up...

Poor performance by our standards but 3 points are in the bag and that's what matters. Winning ugly gets you titles and most imoportant today was to get clear of the City and put pressure back in their yard so well done to players although they underperformed.

My thoughts exactly. Not just for this game, but for countless others. Its a complete mystery. Yes I've heard the argument that "he doesn't suit our style of play" but I just don't buy it. Even if he is not a perfect match, he is still, in many cases, the stronger option.

That was an utter shambles and I'm placing most of the blame at Fergie. Giggsy was clearly having one of those games where nothing comes off for him (sadly not his first this season) and he was offering no protection whatsoever when Demeble and Dempsey ran through the middle - leaving Carrick a bit of a problem.

Why take off Rooney? At least he can run the 90 minutes. I didn't think he was playing badly either.

Some of that pissing about at the end was ridiculous. I hope Fergie tears them a new one. Evra and Chicarito playing 5 yard passes to no one - it's worse than Sunday league stuff.

Yep, lucky on the pk...But deserved 3 pts, United were the superior side on the night

I wasn't taking the piss earlier, btw...I honestly am trying to understand the tactics...The game became frenetic late, as far as I could tell, because everyone was sooo gassed...They had been running all night and then the fireworks broke out as the legs got heavy, right?...And Fulham looked like were playing possum for 60 odd minutes, like they were a boxer just absorbing jabs for round after round and then decided to play when they figured United would be tired

It was fascinating really, I was getting annoyed with Fulham early trying to understand what they were doing as they looked entirely disinterested...And United looked comfortably superior that it just looked a matter of time...And then everyone got tired...I figured the pace of the league was like that for 90 minutes but it's not is it?...Not every week anyway I guess

I would imagine lots of clubs would go out to absorb wave after wave of attacks for 80 odd minutes to then spring their gameplan too then, eh?

Agreed.

I can't believe Chico is ahead of Berbatov, the two goals last week when the game was dead masked another poor showing.

United are so frustrating when we do this. I'm not asking for us to be coasting every game, but to play such a good intelligent game of football for 75ish minutes and then disintegrate into a maelstrom of bad passing, poor decision making, sloppiness and nervous play is so so irritating!

Every time!

I know theyre only human and it could well be an effect of the pressure, but experienced players like giggsy and evra playing diddly silly passes when an easy ball is on is maddening.

Evans had a good game, carrick played well apart from the stonewall penalty!

Valencia is a filth monger

Evra not even attempting to have a shot from that cross was ridiculous. We were only 1-0 up. He should have at least tried!
