Manchester United vs. Fulham

De Gea
Rafael Carrick Vidic Evra
Cleverley Anderson
Valencia Kagawa Nani
RVP

Although I hope Evans makes it. Fulham are a good side. He might struggle again.

It is so important we get Evans back. Vidic needs somebody experienced by his side, after looking understanderbly a little out of sorts against Everton.

It'll be nice to have Rafael back too. I hope he can keep away from the injuries this season and make that right spot his. Too many stop-starts. He had a good Olympics too (bar the Final).

I can, and I hope, to see Anderson start this one.

It'll be a challenge to actually guess the bench this season

Do we know if Evans is likely to make the game or not?

If he does I'd go with:

- De Gea -

- Rafael - Vidic - Evans - Evra -

- Cleverley - Carrick -

- Nani - Kagawa - Rooney -

- v. Persie -

If Evans can't make it, then Carrick dropping back and Scholes coming into midfield. Guess there's always an option of bring a reserve CB into the starting lineup. Not sure Fergie would do that, likes to protect younger players.

I know Fergie knows more than us of course, but surely playing Wooton there would be more beneficial for the team rather than playing Carrick there? Wooton played a few matches during pre-season with the first team effectively, so it won't be a stranger to anyone. I understand it was pre-season, but I'm sure we'd do better by playing everyone in their rightful position rather than doing the opposite.

It won't happen I know.

Watching the Chelsea game I can see us emulating the Hazard/Mata combination in LW/AM. If you watch them they kept rotating the two roles, Mata would drift wide, then cut in and Hazard would pop up there, sometimes they both came centrally etc.

If we start with,

------Van Persie ------
Kagawa - Rooney - Nani

Then I can see us operating in a similar fashion. Both Rooney and Kagawa are better centrally so like Chelsea both will have the freedom to play in the middle, with just a general instruction to provide width on the left at times as well.

De Gea
Rafael - Carrick - Vidic - Evra
Cleverley - Scholes
Valencia - Rooney - Kagawa
Robin Van Persie

Kagawa/Rooney continuously rotating, With Hernandez to come on for the last 15 mins for RVP which ensures that RVP gets a great reception providing he scores.

Rooney an Nano should be benched. They were dreadful last week and get away with it too often.

You don't bench your best players (Rooney & Nani) if they have one bad game. They are key to our side and need more games to get their match fitness and form back, dropping them is hardly going to achieve that.

If they perform badly for 2-3 games then we can talk about dropping them.

Err, Nani isn't our best player... He's barely in top 5.

I'd say Rooney, RvP, Kagawa, Scholes, Vidic and Valencia are all better at their stuff.

Over the last 2/3 seasons Nani has earned the right to be called on of our best players. How can you say after 90 minutes of competitive football Kagawa is better, and even less for RVP. RVP had an excellent couple of seasons for Arsenal, but who is to say he will be just as effective for us? It may be down to personal preference but I prefer Nani to Valencia as well. More unpredictable, can go either side and is a better goalscorer. I understand the argument for Valencia and wouldn't argue too much against it. However, to say he is "barely in the top 5" is rubbish in my opinion.

read somewhere that rio could be fit for this game if he didn't feel any discomfort in his groin. however evans has been training for the past 2 weeks so i hope he is up for this game.

.....................DDG........................
.........Rafael.....Vidic....Evra............

...Valencia........Kagawa.........Young.
...Rooney...Van Persie....Hernandez...

Seriously :D

Herrera

Cleverley for Herrera in Jaap's line-up and it's a good team. I would prefer Carrick in midfield and Wootton in defence (Fulham at home is quite a good chance to make a debut) because we bloody need a CB in defence and a CM in midfield.

But I don't think Ferguson will play Wootton (and Carrick in midfield), he probably won't drop Rooney, too.

What I want: de Gea - Rafael, Wootton, Vidic, Evra - Carrick, Scholes - Valencia, Kagawa, Young - van Persie.

The thing is would wooton have been able to handle fellani? It's a tough one but it's easier I think to play wooton at home as opposed to away to Everton

Really want to see Anderson start this one. He looked sharp when he came on the other day. Although by then Everton began to sat back anyway.

I wonder if we'll see Rafael at RB or Valencia, I think that's the hardest call to make for predicting the line up.

Everton away is a tough game and Rafael needed something of a break after the Olympics, but surely when he's ready we need to stick with Rafael for a run of games and give him a chance to get more comfortable in the first team.

After hearing SAFs comments he seemed to think our play was fine we simply lacked a cutting edge, didn't sound to me like he would be too eager to bench Nani or Rooney.

totally agree with this team.
thought rooney was very very poor on monday
as was nani and so id play young instead.

play well and your in, off the ace and your out. thats how we used to operate

A lot of knee jerk reactions to the team. One off game and you're out! Lets be honest, De Gea, Vidic, Cleverly and Kagawa can really hold their head up high and take anything from that game.

I totally agree with dropping players who don't perform, but not after one game on the opening day of the season when fitness and match sharpness are bound to be lacking.

Not really true though is it? Both Rooney and Nani have had spells were they've been well below par for consecutive games, yet they're still on the pitch the following week. To instill that kind of security, being able to play while being shit is something I've been strongly opposing ever since I can remember. No player is bigger than the club, now with RvP at the club it is arguably the first time we can afford to bench Rooney. Nani is no huge loss, we have wingers that are equally gifted, if not more. Send the signal Fergie!

The season is 1 game week old. I totally agree that we can now drop/rest certain individuals when needed as maybe we won't be relying on them as much. Funnily enough the two players you've mentioned are the two players we've counted on time after time, and have been huge losses when they've not played.

All I'm saying to start dropping players for poor 'form' after one game is premature in my opinion.

We'll win this. Don't worry.

De Gea
Rafael Carrick Vidic Evra
Carrick Anderson
Valencia Rooney Kagawa
Van Persie

No doubt.

Some changes will be made though, I fully expect Andesron and RVP to start.

RVP I agree with, I think he'll come in for Welbeck.

The rest of the changes depends on the fitness of Rafael and Evans really. Getting Carrick back into central midfield is a must really.

Anderson to replace Cleverley?

Need more Carrick!

Why the feck are we playing Carrick at centre back when we have fit players who were on the tour who play in that natural position?

It's fecking utter madness.

I'd be devastated if someone were to PM me a link to a reliable stream for this.

Fortress Old Trafford to the rescue.

De Gea
Rafael Carrick Vidic Evra
Valencia Cleverley Anderson Nani
Rooney Hernandez

Subs Kagawa for Cleverley, and RVP for Rooney 60 minutes.

Hernandez? We have 2 better strikers than him, he's been off form too.
