Manchester United vs. Fulham

.........................DDG..........................

Rafa..........Vidic...........Evra.........Buttner

..............Carrick..........Scholes............

Valencia............Rooney...............Kagawa

..........................RVP...........................

A solution to the defensive crisis that SAF hinted at today.

I wouldn't call that a solution personally.

De Gea
Rafael Vidic Evans Evra
Carrick Anderson
Valencia Rooney Kagawa
van Persie

Bench will be 7 out of Lindegaard, Buttner, Young, Welbeck, Cleverley, Nani, Chicharito, Berbatov, Scholes, Giggs ;)

Ok Evans won't be fit. So, I would play:

----------------De Gea-------------
Rafael----Wootton----Vidic-----Evra
-----------Carrick----Anderson------
Valencia--------Rooney------Kagawa
------------------RVP---------------

Subs: Lindegaard, Buttner, Scholes, Cleverley, Nani, Welbeck, Chicharito.

No more playing Valencia or Carrick in defence. I know they've done decent jobs there before, but I'd rather give the likes of Wootton a go because he's an actual CB.

And another thing.....please win ;)

it WAS the solution. that was because a poor rooney was still a better option than we had. with kagawa and rvp that is no longer the case.

That's a bold prediction to me, it's not like all 3 can't play together. I'll be shocked if Rooney is benched for a series of games this season for anything but injury, SAF seems to prefer to play him on the wing if he wants someone else up front and a 3 man midfield, I see that as more likely than benching him.

In the last 5 seasons we've amassed 22 points from a possible 30. The last time we dropped points at home to them was way back in the 2003/2004 season when we lost 3-1 at home. Djemba x2 started that game alongside Nicky Butt!

The last time Fulham scored a goal at Old Trafford was the season opener in the 2006/2007 season when we won 5-1 and totally destroyed them. One of the best displays I've seen us put in, we were beautiful that day.

Past Results:

2011-2012:
Utd 1 - 0 Fulham
Fulham 0 - 5 Utd

2010-2011:
Utd 2 - 0 Fulham
Fulham 2 - 2 Utd

2009-2010:
Utd 3 - 0 Fulham
Fulham 3 - 0 Utd

2008-2009:
Utd 3 - 0 Fulham
Fulham 2 - 0 Utd

2007-2008:
Utd 2 - 0 Fulham
Fulham 0 - 3 Utd

Will we keep up the clean sheet streak and push it onto 6 seasons? I'm doubtful, I think they might get a draw this time, they looked very good going forward. It's whether or not Jol will decide to go for it, if he does then we're going to have problems at the back.

Rafael-------Carrick-----Vidic------Evra

Valencia----Cleverley----Anderson-----Kagawa

-----------Rooney-----------RvP

Subs: Lindegard, Scholes, Welbeck, Young, Nani, Berbatov, Wootton/Chich

Personally, I don't really want to play Carrick at CB again, but I think SAF will. Evra to provide width on the left as Kagawa will most likely drift in field.

Still feels a bit weird putting RvP in our pre match predicted lineups.

As Fergie said, Jones trained today but unlikely to feature; as did Ferdinand and Evans. Evans has been training for nearly two weeks now so I wouldn't be surprised to see him feature tomorrow (but I didn't know about his 'setback' when I made this post).

Nice to have a 3pm kick off again.
I can't believe it's our first Saturday game since the one against Liverpool with Evra & Suarez handshake (11th Ferbuary).

And frst 3pm on Saturday kick-off since 14th January (Bolton, 3-0, Scholes' first goal after his comeback).

Are you sure he mentioned Evans? I didn't hear his name come up. I believe he said the squad available would be the same as against Everton. But of course you can't put it past Fergie to throw up the old smoke screen.

I read that Fergie said he might play Evra at Centre Back. Are people worried about that? I mean Evra is a short chap, I can see it being a big issue.

I don't like the idea at all, I can see fulham taking a hint from the Everton game and start banging crosses in. Have they got anyone of decent height upfront? I know they got rid of Zamora.

On set pieces they have Hangleland who Vidic will be marking. I'm hoping there's noone else who is strong in the air because we have noone else to challenge strongly.

Regarding Evra, I'd keep him out wide. He makes too many mistakes these days and at cb they'd be even more costly.

Valencia----Cleverley----Carrick-----Kagawa

-----------Rooney-----------RvP
3-0
RVP 2 Kagawa 1

Fulham played really well last week so I reckon it will be quite tight. However, if Fergie playes Scholes then watch Fulham take a leaf out of Evertons book and try to force a quick pace through the midfield in an endeavour to limit the time united have on the ball. Scholes, a legend I know, needs too much time to orchestrate things in midfield.

Bolt and Rutherford are going to be at the game as our special guests.

Yes! I'll be there to chant 'Fergie, sign him up'.

MUST have tonight claimed that the green and gold protests will continue this season and will start with tomorrow’s game against Fulham, with the away supposedly joining in.

“At the match tomorrow – assuming the Glazers’ security don’t try to suppress free speech – a significant number of Fulham fans will be taking Green & Gold scarves into the away section,” said Duncan Drasdo, chief executive of MUST.

“Due to increased ticket pricing Fulham are only expecting to bring about 500 supporters but we expect one fifth of them will be attempting to bring in a Green & Gold scarf. That is an incredible gesture for away fans who naturally, first and foremost, want to support their own team. We didn’t ask them to do this. They approached us with the idea. It is is a tremendous show of solidarity. If a group of away fans can do this United fans should use it as a spur to up our own game and rebuild the powerful Green & Gold campaign over the coming season.”

Communications and Media Director of Fulham Supporters Trust, Dan Crawford, echoed this sentiment.

“Fulham fans are grateful for MUST’s support during our campaign to return Fulham FC to Craven Cottage,” he said. “Our own campaign has reached a successful conclusion, with the club being granted planning permission, expanding the stadium to 30,000. Like fans at many clubs I’ve become increasingly concerned by the activities of owners like the Glazers – abusing our clubs and the loyalty of the fans for their own ends. The fans are the lifeblood of any club and parasitic owners like the Glazers are draining that lifeblood away. Supporter participation in ownership is the way forward to protect our clubs and fans from exploitative owners. MUST has run a fantastic campaign so far drawing admiration from likeminded fans of rival clubs all over the world. The Green & Gold colours are such a powerful symbol – with their historical link going back to the roots of the club and showing fans’ desire to defend their club and its history. While we remain rivals on the pitch we wanted to show our solidarity with this campaign and encourage United fans and indeed all fans at all clubs to support each other in the fight for fans to reclaim their clubs.”

I may be mistaken, but wasn't the lack of transfer funds and the debt MUST's main issue with the Glazers? How can they even still talk about making a scene? The Glazers have spent heavily over the last two seasons and are doing the IPO to lessen the debt. What more do they fecking want?

And:

assuming the Glazers’ security don’t try to suppress free speech

feck off.

Evra is by far the best in the air out of Clichy and Cole at least (in terms of % of aerial challenges won and he's definitely better defensively than Carrick etc. People just don't like Evra now ;/

The berbatov goal he scored last season was so beautiful.

It was, but the Rooney goal was by far the best. It was mapped out; curled around the defender into the post and in. If he'd shot it straight into the top corner it would've been blocked but he got it around the defender and into the corner. Peach.

It'll be a bit cringe worthy if away fans start wearing G&G.

People just don't like Evra now ;/

Rubbish. Anyone who doesn't agree is biased, right? What has Evra done to go from one of the most liked players of ours to "disliked"? It's not dislike. Evra's level has just gone down a good few notches. He has mistakes in him pretty much every game these days. It's amazing that people don't see this despite him getting caught out of position consistently and then lazily jogging back slower than the winger playing on the left.

They don't give a feck about transfers. In fact they'd rather united won nothing. They want the club to go the way of Rangers in the belief that they can take ownership. If its ownership in the 8th tier so be it.

What does him being better than Clichy or Cole in the air has to do with whether or not he should play at CB for us? Are they the other options we have?

He's not even close to being as good as Carrick defensively, forget about being definitely better.

The problem with playing either at CB is that Vidic gets dragged everywhere trying to deal with all headers. Playing Evra at CB wont change that, it would mean giving us a better CM with Carrick there though.

I can't even, I don't even..... ugh.

Agree with all of that. Not sure why Clichy or Cole are relevant to the discussion either.

We won't win in that shirt. Never been a better time to bet against us. Well, I suppose if it rains throughout the match and both teams end up drenched, things will even themselves out somewhat

Hooray for rain!
