Manchester United vs. Fulham

Feels like this is our first game of the season as well.

Expecting the fans to be in full voice. The first chance to let it all out since the dissapointing last day give-away by QPR.

What's the weather like in Manchester today?

Looked like it was going tobrain when I checked yesterday. But hope not, the last 5 matches i've been to (including other teams) its rained, fed up of it

I'm looking forward to this game. Couldn't watch the Everton one, so it will be good to watch United play a competitive game again.

I never got the idea of playing our most important midfielder in defence. It weakens the defence and midfield alike.

Scott fecking Wootoon to partner Vidic, in the central defence, Carrick - Cleverley in the fecking Central midfield. And wingers where wingers should be.

Why do I have the feeling Welbeck will start? Which ultimately means RvP wont.

I don't see why we wouldn't start RVP today, he needs game time and what better way to give it than a full home debut against Fulham. We play Southampton away next and then its international break again, start him today and give him 60-70 minutes.

Twitter rumors(and I emphasize) only rumors that Wayne Rooney is dropped today. Would anyone have a problem with that?

My fantasy team would, but I fail to see any illogic in that.

I wouldn't mind for today but I think it wouldn't motivate Rooney like it would other players and may cause more harm than good.

He looked unfit, yes, drop him, and bring him on around the 70th minute mark to get some game time. He just isn't fit enough to start games right now.

i agree

he needs to turn up for pre season in better shape

saw him chase a ball and be beaten to it by Distin last week - definately not as sharp as he was 2 years ago

Carlos fecking Tevez came back looking fitter than him. Drop him until he sorts himself out if we have to.

Today I'd play

De Gea - Rafael, Vidic, Carrick, Evra - Valencia, Cleverley, Scholes, Nani, Kagawa, RVP

I really think it's a bit quick to drop players, even if Rooney or Nani don't start, or one of them doesn't, I'd be surprised if Fergie intimates to them that they've been dropped. If you drops players based on one game then you set a standard. If they players that come in don't perfrom great are they dropped for the next game? Hard to get any consistency like that. I could understand after a few games but 1 seems harsh.

Sometimes you need a kick up your arse and I think it's important for Wayne to have proper competition from someone who's also considered a world star. Hopefully it will reignite his hunger and motivation to work towards a higher consistency level.

The players around him right now are of utter quality so it's up to him to make the most out of it.

I was disappointed after his last game (I even thought he deserved to be dropped vs Fulham, but that was on Monday night). I agree, he wasn't great at Goodison, but some of those posts above are pathetic.

And he's gonna start today, you'll see. With Kagawa, Valencia and van Persie.

i wouldnt call it dropping

I'd call it using the squad effectively

I'd not drop Nani anyway - 1 poor game means nothing

I just think our best side at the minute doesnt include Rooney as he is lacking a bit of match sharpness

Surely if Rooney is lacking match sharpness than Rvp is even more so, given he's played even less. Plus he's only going to get sharper by playing. Anyway that was part of my point, if it's for tactical reasons than fair enough but i'd be surprised if Fergie went to Rooney and/or Nani and said he was dropping them after one poor game. That said got a feeling that Nani will be benched.

Which will come how if he's on the bench?

I'd be horrified if someone would be so annoying as to PM me a good stream for this.

Which will come how if he's on the bench?
through training hard, developing sharpness and losing any excess weight

when I've seen Rooney in pre-season he doesnt look in his best shape

we can't use Premier League games as a fitness exercise for players

RVP deserves a start and Kagawa deserves to play - from what I've seen of Kagawa he is most effective in a deeper free role so I would play him there with Nani/Valencia on the wings

if we start well he can always come off the bench

RVP, Welbeck and Kagawa should play, to fight off the zombicity.

The general consensus is always to play fit and form based players. Last year, there wasn't much option in Rooney's absence. This year, looks like the options will be utilized as seen fit. :)
Would be interesting to see how the team is shaped with both Welbeck and V.Persie in Rooney's absence. But I doubt he will be dropped.

What?

That will probably mean Welbeck goes out wide again, van Persie is worse at quick passing than Rooney, and Kagawa played against Everton but was on another level to everyone else. These players playing won't sort out that shit at all :/

If Rooney isn't playing, it's only Kagawa replacing him IMO as the second striker and we're playing two of Nani/Young/Valencia out wide. Carrick/Cleverley/Scholes in the middle is best in terms of passing and keeping the ball.

Rooney should play IMO, he just needs to play with a bit more urgency, he basically stopped dead when he had the ball nearly every time against Everton. You don't get the time to do that in the Premier League, he knows that as much as anyone. It was odd to see.

I'm really looking forward to this match, I wasn't able to see the match on Monday so this will be the start of the season for me.

As for the lineup I would like to see someone else than Carrick as CB since he's needed in CM, but not sure if Evra's the right choice, maybe Wooton will do the job as someone mentioned above. I'd also like to see Rafael on RB and Valencia and Nani on the wings. It'd be interesting to see RvP from start as well along with Rooney.

Rooney will start an will score today giving a big FU to all those that seem separate to have him dropped.

You make it seem like we hate him, did you watch the Everton match? What did you think about his performance? I'm not saying he's shite, I'm saying he's not match fit.

It's as though some do! He had a shit game. So did a few others. It happens in football. Especially in such a tough fixture.

Can anyone help me out with a stream for the match? Mac friendly please and thank you
