Barclay's Premier League
KO 15:00 GMT
Saturday, 23rd January 2010
Old Trafford

Let's kick their ass so we will be in form for the City game.

23rd is saturday :p .

Looking forward to this game.

 I just copied/pasted from the City thread, so I overlooked that.

I hope we score a good bit in this one as we need to catch up with Chelsea's GD. Also, the lads can get a bit of confidence from this game and if the team plays well, there is actually a chance that SAF will play the same team against City.

Team should be...

GK: VDS

RB: Rafael
CB: Brown
CB: Evans
LB: Evra

RM: Valencia
CM: Fletcher
CM: Carrick
LM: Nani

CF: Rooney
CF: Berbatov

Subs: PIG, Fabio, Neville, Gibson, Scholes, Diouf, Owen

3-0, Rooney, Berbatov, Valencia with the goals

I see a second or a secondish string coming up, with several players rested for City and Arsenal.

-------------VDS------------
Rafael---Vidic---Brown---Evra
--Fletcher--Carrick--Anderson
-----------Rooney-----------
--------Owen---Diouf--------

Be interesting to see.

Top of the league if we win...which is all the incentive needed...Im praying Rio and Vida can at least play a part and we can finally get this feckin season up and running!!

Based on the City game our team should be

-------------Rooney------------

Rooney--Rooney--Rooney-Rooney

Rooney--Rooney--Rooney-Rooney

---------Rooney--Rooney--------

------------------VDS----------------

Rafael-------Brown---Evans-------Evra

Valencia----Scholes--Fletch-------Nani

-----------Rooney----Diouf------------

Subs: PIG, Neville, Fabio, Anderson, Carrick, Park, Owen.

If Berba is feeling his knee slightly, I wouldn't even include him in this. Rest him and he could be included for the City game next week. I'd like to see Diouf being given a chance at starting alongside Rooney.

Any win and we're top of the league, come on.

We have an incentive same as what we had when we played villa and brum. Don't mess up this time.

Surely this is the game we should give the Rooney/Owen partnership a chance?

Vidic will be back for this too so i'm hoping for something like:

VDS
Brown Vidic Evans Evra
Valencia Fletcher Scholes Nani
Roney Owen

4-0

Seeing as Rooney and Owen had more link up and threat about them in 10 minutes against City i'd start them together for this game. If we play 4-5-1 against Hull i'm gonna go spare, Rooney was so isolated against City.

I feel that we waste Rooney up front alone. Have him up top with someone otherwise if you are going to play 451. Rooney can't be up alone!

Nani and Berbatov to play, Giggs and Anderson rested. If Vidic/Rio is fit then give them a run out otherwise i'd stick with the same team tbh.

Yeah true same as you. In europe I understand 451 and some big games but that does not mean play Rooney up front alone. At home I think it has to be 442

-------------VDS------------
Rafael---Vidic---Brown---Evra
--Fletcher--Carrick--Anderson
-----------Rooney-----------
--------Owen---Diouf--------

Be interesting to see.

this is what we need with berba and owen pushed up and rooney in free role

2nd string is fine by me. With the big guns on the bench. Big week coming up!

VDS

Neville
Brown
Evans
Evra

Nani
Fletcher
Carrick or Scholes
Valencia

Rooney
Diouf

Thats what i'd like to see start

I want to see Diouf but don't anyone think Owen deserves a chance.

Starting XI:------------- Van Der Sar -----------------------
Neville ------ Ferdinand ---------------- Vidic --------- Fabio
Nani --------- Scholes ---------------- Carrick ------ Obertan
-------------- Rooney ----------------- Owen ---------------

Bench: Kuszczak, Brown, Evra, Fletcher, Anderson, Valencia, Diouf

VDS
Rafael, Rio, Vida, Evra
Park, Carrick, Fletcher, Nani
Rooney, Owen

Do not play Berbatov even if fit - we can beat Hull without him at home and the way he is going right now, playing every other game or two, rather him be fit for City or Arsenal.

Rio/Vida a chance to gain match fitness - even if they aren't ready for City having just played 90 minutes after a lay off, then perhaps Arsenal game.

feck patience - get at their throats from the off and rip them apart.

-------------VDS------------
Rafael---Vidic---Brown---Evra
--Fletcher--Carrick--Anderson
-----------Rooney-----------
--------Owen---Diouf--------

Be interesting to see.

Actually I have a feeling that would work really well, let's face it the defence will be drawn to Rooney as he is our stand out world class attacking talent, imagine Diouf and Owen running off of him, creating space, the defence wouldn't handle that at all. Rooney bursting into the box, spraying the passes around while Ander and Fletch bomb around. Carrick will run around the middle wondering what the football is for (I jest, I jest!...but he does look abit vacant doesn't he? Really? Frankensteinrick.) Anyway. Yeah.

Am just praying Vidic or Rio are fit to play alongside Evans. Wes has been just utter dog shit of late.

VDS
Rafael - Vidic/Rio - Evans - Evra
Valencia - Fletcher - Anderson - Nani
Rooney - Owen/Berbatov if fit

Would love to see Nani given another chance.
A clean sheet and a couple of goals to United.
2 - 0

I would want to play Owen BUT when we are up by two, sub him with 20 to go and give Diouf a chance. That way Owen is in prime shape to take down City again.

4-5-1 works fine when your outside players are in shape enough to make it 4-3-3 in attack. Valencia did it but wasn't passed to and Giggs couldn't keep up so we lacked anything. However we did dominate their midfield in the beginning.

van der Sar

Neville
Brown
Vidic (Evans)
Evra

Valencia
Carrick
Fletcher
Park

Rooney
Berbatov (Owen)

SUBS: Kuszczak, Rafael, Fabio, Anderson, Scholes, Giggs, Diouf.

We rarely see Rooney behind another striker.

I'd go as far saying that Rooney should actually play behind 2 strikers.

Would love to see this:

VDS
Rafael Vidic Evans Fabio
Fletch Scholes Anderson
-------Rooney
-----Diouf Owen.

Won't happen though
