We have 4 actual midfielders fit, and it's Giggs-Jones....If there was anything to look forward to from Fergie's retirement, it was the excitement of a manager who thinks a bit differently, has a different outlook etc. but what we're being served up is exactly what the whole forum has been complaining about for the last 2 years.

Exactly. He's put his head down and worked his socks off every game of the season, and he can lead. He's not as hotheaded as he was when he was younger, I agree with this choice too.
Rooney playing is the reason I feel we will win. Glad he is captain. He should be the captain long term.

Nothing good can come out of playing Giggs/Jones as a CM pairing today. They either play Shit because they shouldn't play there together or they play well and David thinks he's found a good formula.
I was going to say why is everyone so whiney about Jones and Giggs and then just saw the Liverpool lineup... really hope we don't lose because Kagawa/Nani et al get punished, when the midfield is probably going to be the real issue. Either way I'm more excited about this lineup than the one v City, we'll produce some decent moments going forward... but lets just hope this doesn't get ugly.

If Anderson can't get a start in midfield over Jonesey and Giggs, there's something radically wrong.
Every now and then giggs puts an excellent performance in CM, let's hope it's one of those days.

Maybe because Giggs is coach now? Just a thought, only reason I can think of.
It's all part of the plot to keep him here. I said ages ago that Rooney should be captain and, despite the summer shenanigans, I stand by that.
