Manchester United vs. Liverpool

3 points to United here and maybe, just maybe a crushing defeat like a very late goal, or a walkover would see Liverpool become shaky.

We are realistically playing for the league.

Chelsea have Arsenal and Liverpool left in their final 9 games that points will realistically be dropped, if they continue their charge. And the Arsenal game is at home where Arsenal seldom do well! They have a manager who has been there done that, a team that's got league and champions league success in their pockets. .

Liverpool have 10 games left with United, Chelsea, Spurs and City. Are currently 7 points behind, admittedly with a game in hand and need Chelsea to drop at least points in 2 out of the final 9 games, this is all assuming they win their remaining fixtures. And Liverpool have no league winners and a manager with zero experience in the league run in.

Experience counts for everything as the season comes to the business end . .

Realistically, united have a better chance of winning the CL then Liverpool winning the league . .

De Gea
Rafael Smalling Jones Evra
Carrick Fellaini
Mata Rooney Kagawa
Welbeck

This. Although it's a tough call to leave Januzaj out. RVP not so much. He's not working well with the team right now and to be honest his body language isn't great.

Yep, it was Suarez's first game back. It was a tight affair and had Moses, Sturridge and Suarez not been rusty we'd have drawn at least I think.
Sturridge had scored 6 in 6 before then. 4 days later Suarez scored 2 and was MOTM against Sunderland. Moses was typically Moses.

Apart from half an hour of the last league game, it's been 5 years since you troubled us at home with fluid attacking.

There's a fair chance you'll play well and cause us problems this time, I just wanted to jog redman5's memory.

There's no way Liverpool are winning the league this year. Not happening at all.

I just remembered that we could see Valencia vs Cissokho, I almost fell from my chair.

If we play a high line with slow defenders (Vidic/Rio) we will get hammered.

If we don't give them space in behind on the counter, we'll make a game of it. I've been utterly shocked with certain teams' approach to playing LFC this season. It's like they didn't even watch them to prepare.

This is what will happen:

- In the first 20 minutes, LFC will absolutely run themselves ragged, closing down all space and attempting to free their very talented front 3 with a ball over the top or through the channels. Our midfielders will be overrun - often with niggling fouls that are never called. Carrick and Fellaini will be dispossessed in dangerous positions by a swarm of LFC players.

- After 20 minutes or so, LFC will come back down to Earth, because running around like a headless chicken on speed is unsustainable. However, they're typically at least a goal to the good by then.

- Being a goal to the good, they can then soak up some pressure and rely on the quality and pace of their counter - particularly by abusing attacking full backs - Sturride and Suarez will vacate space in behind Evra/Rafael and wait for the counter long ball.

- The half will dwindle at 2-0 or 1-0.

- LFC will repeat the starting 20 minutes, but for only about 10 minutes right after the half starts, again because they'll be knackered after that.

- The game will be done by 60 minutes, and LFC will be tired, but not concede enough goals for it to matter.

I've watched them loads this year, and almost every one of their victories follows this formula. They score early, fade late. And yet no teams seem to be able work out how to deal with it, despite it being predictable.

Decent summary, though what I will say is if we're losing or tied late on we do tend to step it up again. We've had a good few late wins Or draws this season which has been nice to see.

Rafael--Smalling--Jones---Evra
-----Carrick----Fellaini-------
Mata------Kagawa-----Januzaj
-----------Rooney-------------

Bench: Lindegaard, Vidic, Fletcher, Valencia, Young, RVP, Welbeck

Is what I'd like to see

Liverpool will probably win this and we are weak at Old Trafford this season. Let them have their phantom place this season because as soon as we sort out our manager problem Liverpool will be back where they belong, where they've been the last x years.

Just hoping for a strong lineup and some actual good football from us, a few nice moves and maybe just maybe some efforts on goal without just whacking into the box with our heads down. Result would be a bonus, even if its the scousers, we've got nothing to play for this season really.

Like it or not, they are improving and will continue to do so with Champions League football.

DDG

Smailing Evans Vidic Evra

Valencia Fellaini Jones Mata

Rooney - RvP

Will be a boring match, we will aim to cross, limited to one-two chances all match, Moyes will bring Hernandez and Januzaj near the end. Liverpool will nick a goal or two and Moyes will say "Unlucky with defeat, it was a hard match"

Carrick and Rafael will start instead of Jones/Fellaini and Smalling. I think that the most likely lineup will be:

De Gea

Rafael Jones Smalling Evra

Valencia Carrick Fellaini Mata

Rooney RVP

I would prefer Adnan/Shinji instead of Valencia, but I doubt that Moyes will go with two attacking players in the wing.

For some strange, irrational reasons, I am expecting a win this time.

I'd keep the same line up, but change Welbeck for Adnan. I don't agree with everyone wanting to swap Shinji for Adnan. That would mean literally no pace at all in the team.

Is Kagawa slower than Adnan? I think that they have arorund the same pace.

He is in my view. Adnan also a direct runner. We would only have one type of threat with Mata, Persie, Rooney and Shinji.

This should be Moyes' defining game for this stage of the season. He has a fit squad with almost all players available so has no excuses not to go at them. If he loses the game poorly, especially after cowering and opting for Valencia/Young then he should be gone by the end of the season.

Providing we dont have 1 of Young, Cleverley or Valencia in the starting line up - I can only see us winning this match.
Players will be pumped up (apart from RVP) and we shown signs of some real nice football against West Brom to take into this game.

It could be a big week for us. Win these clowns this weekend - Feel good factor improves, Knock Olympiakos out midweek and we will have a buzz amongst the players that hasnt been there all season (the main reason for our crapness IMO)

It would be good if a win for us this weekend starts a spell of patchy form for Liverpool. It would be funny to see them crumble during squeeky bum season.

It's been a while since we've taken two steps forward.

It would be nice if we could do so on Sunday.... still think it'll be a draw or loss though.

Again, will state its a weird game. Liverpool win, we rub your noses in it and keep our title charge alive (though Chelsea would be stupid to lose it from this position). Man Utd win and Moyes' job for next season is safe, he WILL spend that £200m in the summer. No top 4 for Man Utd again next season. Job done. :)

I reckon a draw will be my worse case scenario.

Moyes....make it happen.

For this one Id be tempted to put RVP on the bench, give him a pair of Agger's undies to sniff in the first half, like an attack dog picking up the scent of its intended prey, and then let him loose in the second half.

Id line up the same way as we started the WBA game, but start Welbeck instead of RVP. But I havent thought this one through particularly, maybe dropping our leading striker for this game isnt the best idea I ever had.

You really think Moyes' position will be determined one way or the other by this game? Sounds like you are just hedging your bets so it doesnt hurt so much if you lose.

I'm afraid you read his post incorrectly....

For me it's...
David
Rafael Christopher Phillip Patrice
Michael Marouane
Adnan Shinji Juan
Wayne

SUBS: Anders, Jonathon, Thomas, Luis Carlos, Robin, Daniel

Same team except play only one of Rooney/RVP and I'd like to see Nani on the bench...

I forgot how irritatingly arrogant you lot are when things are going your way. God help the footballing world if you won a trophy this season. Thankfully that won't happen though.

Or playfully joking? But hey, no you're right, as you were...

Well his playful jokes are irritating then. I'm sure that many will agree if Liverpool end up winning this weekend and this place is flooded with playful jokes from them.

Errmmm.... I'll take a draw thanks. We lose and it's 8 points over united with matches against Chelsea,City, and Spurs left. They have City and Everton. Too close for comfort.

Now this is what you call a playful joke. :)

You lot were more bearable when you went into hiding for the last couple of seasons. Guess I best wait for next season when the Scouse hibernation comes around again.

I wouldn't. We need to win as many as possible and keep our momentum going for as long as possible if we want the title.
