Manchester United vs. Liverpool

Welbeck and Jones in CM are our big game players IMO. Lot of work rate and physicality from them both, like we used to get from Fletcher and Park in the past.

Play Januzaj on the right. We need someone to go at their left back. Playing Mata there would be silly as he cuts infield. Bollocks to defensive wingers!

Heard a strong rumour from my mate that Welbeck is starting this..

He's a season ticket holder and lives near Bridewater Canal...Not my word, just passing it on. Could be wrong

Tactics, formations etc...are less important with this match than heart, the team needs to play with belief and passion and pride in the shirt, as long as they do that then what will be will be. Hopefully we can get an early goal and settle in, Liverpool's high pressing game will be difficult for us as we never do well against that style, but if we can frustrate them and counter with accuracy their dodgy defense can be exploited.

The Theatre of Dreams will live to its expectation... bring it on

Good luck to everyone... i prefer drinking till kick off :)

Hope Wellbeck plays behind RVP with Mata and Rooney tightly tucked in as I don't think Gerrard will be able to match his energy (a bit like his role vs Madrid)

Gerrard will have his levels up an extra 20%. He's also coming in off the back of 10 days off.

Best game of the season, Barney. And the best thing is we get to do it twice, at the very least.

No other game like it.

P.S I'd wish you luck today but you know I wouldn't mean it!

Indeed. England's finest going head to head.

This will be a hard fought draw. Some here will be encouraged by the fight and vigour. Others will call for Moyes' head because of lack of aggression to win the match. Status quo. No questions answered.

Haven't felt like this for a game in a while to be honest.

Need to make the whole of Old Trafford a singing section today, absolutely no excuses. Been difficult at times but we need to or our bit today.

I should really go to bed for a few hours now as I was working last night but I doubt I'll sleep, I can't wait for this to start, hopefully the lads will be as up for this as we are and will go at them from the start.I predict 3-1 United.Come on you reds.

Yep Giggsy has had 3 months off too but doesn't change the fact he can't run like he used to. Gerrard is a pale imitation of what he used to be and one of the weak links in this Liverpool team defensively imo.

I think you'll be surprised if that's what you are expecting.

Really hope Moyes doesn't piss on my excitement for this game by starting Young or Valencia or, God forbid ,both.

I think its almost certain Young will start from the left as Januzaj will be rested for the CL game.

Barney Gerrard was brilliant but his legs are gone now and he walks about most of the game. IMO he is weak defensively as he can't match runners.

He might well start but I doubt anybody knows, apparently the players don't even know until a couple of hours before the game (Moyes way of doing things)

After RvP's speech in midweek Id expect him to be well up for this, hes got to start either way his record against them is superb.

Fear not, enjoy the match. We'll win. I've placed a draw-no-bet on Liverpool to ensure it happens.

Unlikely to be a problem considering he's going to be up against Carrick and Fellaini

Defeat is not an option today. As small-time as it may sound, we must stop Liverpool today and give ourselves a decent chance in our European bid. Moyes must not play the likes of Young, Valencia or Cleverley. feck resting players for the Champions League, this is the one now. Come on UTD!

Got a feeling this match will live up to the hype.My heart says a convincing win my head says a score draw.

I'm so up for this game now but there's a nagging fear that the team sheet is going to demolish my excitement.

Feeling the same way, such a long time between games, good news about RvP, better presser and a bit more positivity on here gets me excited for the game. I'm thinking, maybe if we can put a run of games together, you never know we might make 4th after all, and we could put on a show at OT in the CL on Wednesday, you never know.

Then I remember that SAF isn't the manager any more and if he was we wouldn't be in this position anyway.

Then there is the Valencia/Young combo fear at the back, no the forefront, of my mind, and the team sheet for this and/or Wednesday.

On form and quality in 2013/14 Liverpool should win this game and I actually think they will but I'll happily be very wrong today.

My issue is counter attacks. We can't defend them and Liverpool seem to score from one every week.

I think the fact liverpool not playing a competitive game for 2 weeks could work in our favor

Liverpool has lost to Arsenal(x2), City, Chelsea, Southhampton and Hull. If we analyze those teams we see that Hull is the only team who don't play football who managed to get a win against Liverpool. Swansea managed to get a draw as well, so basically most teams who are known to play their game and especially possession teams has done incredibly well.

So I think we really need to go in to this game with an idea to play ourselves. Falling back and hoping Suarez/Sturridge won't score will be suicide.

I think it is key to have players who are great in possession in the central midfield because Suarez is brilliant at stressing forth mistakes.

If we start Valencia in either game, I might punch someone.

Sadly, young is inevitable today I reckon.

The last 2 midweek games I've heard the line ups driving home from work, both times I nearly crashed the car.

I'm planning on walking to pub for this, just in case. The sun is shinning & I need the fresh air anyway :nervous:

Nothing is more important than Liverpool. Moyes could potentially lose his job if we lost today as the home crowd will turn on him. He'll put out our strongest team.

We're winning this 2-0 with Welbz getting a goal.

Felliani will be man of the match. Mata will play well and we will end Liverpools title challenge.

3-1 United

First time I've felt like they'll beat us for many a year.

Me too. I can't remember dreading a game like this in many a year.

It's such a shame that not only are united hitting a bumpy road but also that Liverpool have seriously gotten their shit together. Most other seasos and we would be at worst just level with then in the table!

What I am hoping is that we can at least give them a similar sting in the tail like they have us in 92 in the title run in when Leeds won the league!
